Bulldogs U10 v Middleton FC U11

Despite an early 8am kick-off, the Bulldogs started brightly and quickly took control of the game. Louie opened the scoring after being set up by Nate before Gabriel added another following a free-kick rebound. Daniel then found the net after more excellent work from Gabriel and Nate, while Stan produced a brave save to preserve the Bulldogs' advantage.

Middleton responded early in the second half, but the Bulldogs reacted immediately when Felix turned home from close range after good work by Louie. The visitors threatened at times, but the Bulldogs continued to play with confidence and attacking intent.

The team produced some outstanding passages of football throughout the second half. Louie completed his hat-trick following a flowing move involving Ollie, Gabriel and Nate, while Ollie scored two superb goals after moving into a more advanced role. Nate also got the goal his performance deserved after being played through by an unselfish pass from Daniel.

It was an impressive all-round display from the Bulldogs, who played with energy, teamwork and quality throughout.

Man of the Match: Ollie, who was solid defensively before moving forward in the second half and scoring two well-taken goals.

SUN MYSL CHAMPIONSHIP - ULTRAS Vs BURY FC

First day back on astro after a summer of grass and unfortunately we couldn't handle the pace of it. We just lacked shape and got overrun on the wings and outnumbered in our final third which is my fault and need to look at a new formation!!!! Work to do for me and lew .

Commitment always there as usual but after holding out for 15mins the game slowly slipped out of reach. Scored a belter but was too little too late !

Proud of all the boys they have put a shift in all weekend and passing is coming on so so much just the pace today what killed us! Onwards and upwards MYSL league starts 15th October so plenty of practice from then on in ! Glad to be back 😎🤣💯

MATCH SAT NBJFL - ULTRAS Vs WESTBURY

First game back with a new adventure for the boys in this league. First impressions was ' this is proper football' especially on the grass pitch, and what a game it was!
We started off with a 1 4 1 formation and this style at 7 a side with the CDM sat in front of CB really worked 💪. They took an early lead against the run of play , but we weren't phased by it with a great attitude from the boys ! Running havoc down the right and left wing we had chance after chance until Blake cooly drew us level ! We passed extremely well from there on in work rate brilliant pressing from the front and commitment from every single lad. Bossing the game from late first half hat trick hero Blake took us up with a few close chances for our opponents in the dying minutes 😨 but we held out strong with some warrior like defending from our new CB 👏👏👏
Overall really pleased with the performance super proud of the boys with only 7 players we dug deep and it paid off 💯💯

MOTM BLAKE DISLEY - hat trick hero cool finishes and thriving in new CAM ROLE wonderful to watch 10/10

BEST EFFORT A***N ATHA. Actually believe he ran a half marathon today tracking back and running riot on the RW always a threat and 100% commitment ❤️it 👏👏

Lions Vs JL Foundation Blue (U8)

Season opener for the new look Lions. Four players making their league debuts and a few missing players made it a nervy start and we were soon a couple of goals down.

Once the shape of the team settled we quickly pulled one back but we're soon pegged back and headed towards the half time break.

Defensive and midfield changes saw Lions take control early in the second scoring two in quick succession and we levelled up looking the most likely team to win it.

However, as the half went on and Lions chased the win, silly mistakes crept in....ball chasing, half clearances, lack of concentration. We were punished repeatedly.

With the game out of our reach we added a deserved goal before the game was rounded off by our opponents.

A great start to the season despite the result. More game time and the return of some experienced players will see those mistakes corrected.

Radcliffe Tigers 1 Vs Prestwich Diamonds 0

The first game back this morning and our first game in the higher division, with one of the teams that joined us in promotion. We’ve played Radcliffe more than any other team and they tend to be incredibly close games.

Like last season, the league has chosen to run the first month of the season as friendlies and so these games don’t count towards the table. It gives us a good chance to try a few things out tactically and with positioning which we did a bit of today.

After a superb show of football at the tournament last week we were very sloppy to start today. Lots of misplaced passes, slow reactions, and a lot of booting the ball in any direction.

We did have a few glimpses of good passing in the first half from the defence in particular. Audrey was superb all game with her calm intelligent passing, as well as her physicality.

Half time talk was to get the ball on the floor and start passing it and we did improve in the second half. We always struggle on Radcliffe’s pitch as it’s very short and the ball just runs away on astro so our pace in attack can’t be used as much as usual.

Although we played the better football and had more chances throughout the game, Radcliffe were more physical and reacted to everything quicker to us. The main positive today was in defence, both their anticipation and physicality to win the ball back, as well as their passing including some great distribution from Nellie.

Eva took a great corner that no one could get on the end of, and we had a few shots that the keeper spilled but again our reactions were too slow to get to the loose ball. Eve had a good game battling on the left and showed a great instinct with her shot.

The last fifteen we tried Alice out in midfield and we thought her linkup play was brilliant, calm and composed and created a few chances for us. We moved our attackers positions a lot today to try some things out before the competitive games start.

With a couple of minutes to go we were unlucky to concede with Radcliffe’s only shot on target of the game which shows how solid we were at the back throughout. It was this goal that seemed to wake the attack up but it was too late with only a few minutes left to go.

Overall not a great performance by the diamonds standard, but it was expected after a few months away from matches. These first four games give us a good chance to get back into our rhythm and try different things out. We were so impressed with the defence today and that’s a great sign going forward.

Girls of the Game:

Iyla - Great game from Iyla at right back. She was physical as always, read the game well, but we were most impressed with her calmness on the ball which is what we have been asking her to do. Superb Iyla!

Teagan - Absolutely superb at centre back once again. Great anticipation, strong clearances, and some brilliant marauding runs up the pitch, taking players on and picking out a pass, but always having the intelligence to get back into position. Well done Teagan!

Radcliffe Juniors Vs Pikachus ⚡

In our team talk we discussed the importance of reacting quickly to set plays in attack and in defence and I was very happy with the reaction from all the girls.

Grace - 2 amazing quarters in defence! Showing great natural awareness and determination to win the ball and clear the danger! Also, very impressed with how you bounced up from getting clattered by Liv in the warm up!

Holly - great work up front passing and moving, creating space and always making the right runs! And reminding us how cool she is in defence - no way past Holly in her stint at the back today!

Scarlett - some great passing today and very impressed with her reactions during defensive set plays, finding a girl to mark and battling for the ball! Also enjoyed the Pikachu cheerleading with Grace and Freya on the sidelines!

Freya - putting us in the lead with a classic Freya goal pressing the keeper. Radcliffe then went 3-1 up, but Freya had other ideas, bagging another 2 for a hat-trick! Compliments from opposition coaches "No.5, great footwork in tight spaces".

Alba - lightning speed up and down the pitch in midfield! Some great dribbles and passes today before a quick stint in defence to see out the draw! Compliments from opposition coaches "No.8 is very fast!"

CeCe - so impressed with CeCe's understanding of the game! You can see her brain working on the pitch and she is becoming more and more vocal on and off the pitch, dictating play and helping and encouraging her teammates! Keep this up! This is captain vibes!

Milan - great energy as always! A great pass to Freya for her second goal to get us back in the game! And a determined dribble towards the end could have won it for us! Keep doing what you are doing, well done Milan!

Player of the match - it's the cheat code... Liv 🏆🎮! Before the match we spoke about the importance of dominating her penalty area and using her bravery to gather the ball in her hands and use that amazing new big kick to get us down the pitch! Fully switched on for the whole 40 minutes, making diving saves and crunching tackles face first! Liv, you were on top form today and when you play like that you are the best goalkeeper in this league! Compliments from opposition coaches "Wow, your goalkeeper is amazing!"

Prestwich FC 12 -1 Tintwistle (U21)

A superb start to the season with a statement victory. The hard work in preseason, whilst being behind where we were last year, undoubtedly contributed to the gulf in standards on display today.
Prestwich were highly organised, pressed well and passed the ball intelligently when they recovered possession. It helped us that Tintwistle were poorly prepared and structurally disorganised, but for the first 10 minutes the game ebbed and flowed evenly with both teams getting forwards and both keepers being drawn into early saves.
The deadlock was broken on 10 minutes with Leo connecting to free kick from Elliott. It was doubled minutes later when their keeper spilled a shot and Leo was on hand to hammer home from close range.

There were 10 other goals to come, and I am not going to commentate all of them.

In total we had 8 different scorers, 1 hat trick (Leo), 2 braces (Jack and Ryan) 2 debut goals (Cam & Luca) and solo efforts from James, Luke and Tom Carroll.

Earning a shout out, again, is new goal keeper Jake who was 90 seconds away from a clean sheet. Jake had less to deal with than the opposition keeper, but made numerous saves that would have let them back at key moments throughout the game. He even got himself an assist with a quick, accurate counter attack goal kick that Jack was able to control and drive past their keeper in 3 touches.

Not every game this season will be this straight forward for the lads, but we couldn't have asked for a better start to the campaign and an opportunity to put in to practice everything we have been working on in the summer.

We couldn't agree on a POTM - there were so many superb performances on display and so we agreed this was a team effort.

PFC U14s 5-2 Rammy Dodgers - Prem Win in first game!

Great 3pts today! Dominated large parts and moved the ball really well. Should have been 8-1 on another day.

Got a bit complacent last 15 mins which we need to cut out — we don't give cheap goals away after dominating like that.

Everyone played well:
Midfield Cian & Theo excellent. Back 4 Zachary/Norman, Tiosa, Henry, Tom/Nathan solid. Shalom, Eden & Mia pressed brilliantly from the front. Lucas a livewire with 2 great finishes. Zach great as CAM with a lovely assist. George solid in goal and great distribution vs their press. Norman Mr Versatile again.

MotM: Alfie - Unlucky not to get a hat-trick. Decision making and passing top drawer. Wearing the wrong kit (away instead of home) made him majestic 👀😂

Scorers:
Lucas ⚽️⚽️
Norman ⚽️
Nathan ⚽️
Tiosa ⚽️

Sharks 5-3 Radcliffe Hurricanes (U15)

⚽️ Harrison 3, Mason, George
🅰️ Mason 2, Harrison, Bil

Great first game of the season at Heaton Park.

First half - worst possible start conceding an own goal in the first minute giving Dexter no chance. Not long after it was 2-0 and it looked a long way back. However after a couple of near misses Harrison scored after a cross from Mason just before the break. 2-1 at HT.

Second half - We started well and looked like getting back into it only to concede another OG against the run of play! 3-1 down but plenty of time left.

A good move down the left side, ended with a pinpoint cross from Mason, headed home by Harrison for 2-3. We were now on top and drew level with a superb finish from Mason across the keeper into the bottom corner. We kept the pressure on and after being clearly fouled in the box for a pen, Harrison calmly scored the spot kick for 4-3. We didn’t sit back and extended the lead, long throw from Harry M and clinical strike from George for 5-3. Amazing second half!

Overall - A really strong team performance. Pressed well from the front. Good aggression in midfield from Ethan, Alfie, Rory and Aaron, strong defending from the back four, Joe, Max and Ben dealing well with tricky wingers and Bil and Harry solid in the middle. Also great keeping from Dexter with much improved distribution.

Man of the match - Mason, 1 goal and 2 assists on his debut and worked very hard all game. Well done 🥇
