Littletown u13 Lionesses v Linthwaite u13s

Without a doubt this was the most exciting game involving Littletown U13 girls so far this year ⚽️

An uphill struggle from the start with only 10 players against a well organised Linthwaite team with a starting 11 and our girls found themselves 0-5 down at half time 😔

However, Littletown girl’s spirit with a 'never give up' attitude shone through when the game kicked off after half time as they played the best second half of any team anywhere in 2026.

With Orlaith poking the ball home from a Macey M corner, followed quickly by Macie L with a run into the box and finish in the top corner, followed by Gracie getting on the scoresheet with a pass from Orlaith, a brilliant turn in the box before slotting past the keeper…… but that wasn’t the end of the scoring Brooke S picked up a loose ball, played a great pass to Orlaith who controlled the ball and ran at the defenders before passing the ball through to Gracie to score, 4 goals in 8 minutes which had the game turned on its head.

However there was no equalising goal, instead Linthwaite scored a goal against the run of play, which ended what could have been the greatest comeback since Lazarus!

Every girl deserves a medal for playing the full match with one less player, no subs, a hard task for any team, but none of them complained they just got on and gave it their all.

Lily Rose received Opposition Player of the Match for an outstanding performance in defence and then in goals 🏅

Orlaith received the Manager's Player for an epic game, managing a goal and two assists 🏅

Maicey and Macie ran their legs off trying to seek out that elusive equaliser.

Lily G covered every blade of grass working hard for her team, as always.

Brooke S had a great game, placing some unbelievable passes with her powerful kicks.

Brooke R played well in defence, marking players and blocking shots.

Isla pulled off her best performance yet, much stronger in tackles and clearing the ball well, she is really improving week on week and never fails to turn up for training which is really paying off.

Gracie was a game changer in the second half, with her fresh legs she really brought the energy back in to the game. Driving forward all the time and her determination to turn the scoreline on its head really paid off.

Our unsung hero was Daisy who just wants to play, never complains, she’s given a job on the pitch and she goes out and does it, she battled away in defence and midfield, trying to plug two gaps for the team, she got her tackles in and kept going to close down the opposition with the ball.

Thanks to our resident referee, Caitlin Flanagan as always. To our amazing group of parents and carers for their continued support and for the fabulous teamwork setting up and packing away at our home games, it's very much appreciated ♥️
