Huge well done to all the girls — finishing 2nd in the group stage, making it through to the top cup, reaching the semis and then coming away 3rd overall in the whole tournament is a brilliant achievement. You should all be proper proud of yourselves.

The improvement, teamwork, and effort shown over the last year has been class to see, and it really showed throughout the tournament. Keep working hard, supporting each other, and enjoying it — roll on the next couple of galas 😂⚽👏

Proud of the girls again for their efforts today.

We had to make changes to cover the goalkeeper position, and we’re so proud once again of Lily, Ava, and Mya for stepping up.

A few lucky goals went against us today, but we came out fighting in the second half and switched to a more attacking formation. The scoreline didn’t reflect the performance, but we loved how the girls battled right to the end, eventually getting a goal back with Lily pouncing and pinching the ball from the goalkeeper to score.

Coaches Player of the Game went to Maya!
We asked Maya to play more of a CDM role in midfield, and she did exactly as instructed winning tackles and playing some great balls forward into attack.

Opposition’s player went to Mya!
Mya did a great job up front and was worked hard down the wing today. Her goal keeping experience really helped at the end of the game to keep to opposition out.

What a way to finish the season — absolutely brilliant from every single player. From the very first whistle to the last minute, the girls worked tirelessly, pressing hard and showing real determination throughout the game. It was a proper team performance and a cracking match to watch.

Annabelle, Shearipo and Layla were tremendous in defence. The opposition struggled to create clear chances because the defending was so organised and focused all game long. You three were outstanding, and you’ve built a fantastic partnership at the back — well done.

Neave had a spell in goal and made a couple of crucial saves, then went on to play brilliantly up front and out on the wing. A fantastic all-round performance.

The midfield worked incredibly hard, keeping the line tight and completely controlling large parts of the game. We really played the opposition off the park in midfield.

Maya was excellent, holding the ball up brilliantly when needed. Sophie made some really important clearances and played some great passes out from the back. Hettie’s pressing caused problems all game, and her throw-ins were superb. Mya showed some brilliant dribbling, played some excellent passes through the middle of the park, and also did amazingly in net.

Ava scored a brilliant equaliser at a crucial moment, while Jess delivered some great throw-ins that led to an assist, alongside some fantastic pressing work. Lily once again did amazingly in goal and also contributed really well up front.

An incredible effort from everyone involved and the perfect way to end the season. So proud of the whole team.

A big shout out as well to all the parents for being amazing supporters throughout the season. Your encouragement every week has meant so much to the girls and the team.

POMs: Neave & Jessica ⭐
Opposition Player of the Match: Shearipo 👏

Today’s game was always going to be a challenge with Evie out due to her ankle injury. The girls rose to it brilliantly and created most of the chances in the first half. We were unlucky to concede from a high shot that found its way into the net.

The goal didn’t affect the girls focus, and Lily levelled the game after capitalising on a mistake from the opposition’s keeper.

In the second half, we were caught out by a through ball that allowed the opposition to score again. The girls kept battling and never let their heads drop, showing great character throughout.

Coaches Players of the Match went to Lily and Mya, who both bravely stepped up in Evie’s absence. They did brilliantly well, with some great saves, confident catches, and strong goal kicks.

The Opposition Player of the Match went to Layla. She did a fantastic job limiting the opposition’s chances, showing real defensive strength and determination throughout the game.

Referee of the Match went to Robin! who stepped in and did a brilliant job. Thank you Robin we really do appreciate the help
Well done girls!

Today was a beautiful day for football, and the pitch was in perfect condition. We faced a team four divisions above us, and we felt this would be a valuable experience for the girls to better understand the areas we need to improve as a team.
Although the match was competitive, the opposition proved stronger, particularly in their ability to strike the ball over long distances. This is something we can take away and work on in future training sessions.
The opposition’s goal kicks and corners were especially impressive. Despite this, the girls worked hard throughout the entire game and never gave up. Every player put in a strong performance, and I hope they all enjoyed the experience.
Grace was awarded Opposition Player of the Match, while Mia received Coaches’ Player of the Match. Mia has attended every training session, and her commitment is clearly reflected in her performances. She also did an excellent job of applying what Gavin has been teaching in training during the match.
Overall, I hope the girls enjoyed today and can take plenty of positives from the experience.

Match Report – Stanningley Albion Girls

Today the girls handled themselves exceptionally.

Despite going a goal down early, we kept the ball well, made strong tackles, and refused to let the opposition build on their lead. The girls showed real character, coming back with confidence and controlling large parts of the game — even in what was easily the hottest match we’ve had this season.

Players of the Match

• Sophie – Outstanding work rate from start to finish. She constantly cut out dangerous attacks, covered huge distances, and showed real pace and determination throughout the game.
• Layla – A rock in both defence and midfield. She controlled the play, read the game superbly, and prevented the opposition from driving forward.
• Lily – Although not announced after the match, she absolutely deserves recognition. After a huge clearance from Evie that travelled most of the pitch, Lily chased it down with persistence and scored a goal with real skill and composure. She’ll receive her medal on Wednesday.

We are extremely proud of every single girl today, they’ve shown how much they’ve grown — in confidence, in ability, and in how they handle tough situations. Their progress this season has been incredible, and they should be proud of themselves.

Match Report

Today we faced a very strong Div 4 team, but the girls absolutely held their own and came out looking like the better side.
They took every challenge, cut out the opposition’s chances, and matched their intensity at every step. Each and every one of them should be incredibly proud of their performance.

We created some fantastic chances going forward, with Lily, Neve and Layla all unlucky not to score — especially after some of the brilliant runs they made in behind.

Coaches’ Player of the Match: Neve & Hettie

Opposition’s Player of the Match: Evie

Hettie was a real force down the wing today, causing constant problems and finishing off a superb solo run with a clean, well‑taken goal.

Neve controlled the middle of the pitch with real precision, winning the ball, keeping possession, and creating several dangerous attacks.

This result marks five games unbeaten, a brilliant achievement that shows just how far the girls have come this season. Their confidence, teamwork and resilience grow every week.

Keep up the fantastic work, girls — you’ve earned every bit of praise today.
