Happy 60th Birthday to one of the most special people we know, our wonderful Jayne Cross Bunning ❤️🎉
Sometimes, the most incredible journeys begin with the smallest moments. In 2017, you walked back into the rink after more than 20 years away, simply to sell a pair of boots. None of us could have imagined that one decision would bring you back to the ice, lead you to competing at the British Championships, and, most importantly, bring you into our lives.
As one of the original four members of Dreigiau Dawnsio, you've been part of this team's story from the very beginning. Through every challenge, every performance, every competition, and every new chapter as Ice Phoenix, you've been there with your unwavering support, infectious smile, and the biggest heart.
The thing that makes you special is the way you make people feel , you have a gift for lifting others up, believing in them when they don't believe in themselves.
Your kindness shines brightest through your work with the Deestars inclusive team with Deeside Synchronized Skating Club and our regular disability skating sessions with Deeside Ice Skating Club. The patience, compassion, and encouragement you show to every skater are a true reflection of who you are.
This team wouldn't be the same without you, and neither would our lives.
We hope you know just how loved and appreciated you are, not just today, but every single day.
Happy Birthday, Jayne. Thank you for being exactly who you are. We love you more than words can say, and we can't wait to make many more memories with you, both on and off the ice. ❤️🥂✨

Congratulations to our Development Team member, Nikki Sibeon!
Nikki recently took part in the World Inclusive Para Skating Championships, competing in the visually impaired category. She achieved an incredible result, bringing home gold medals in both Free Skating and Free Dance, along with personal bests in both categories.
A fantastic achievement - well done, Nikki! 🎉

✨ Exciting times ahead for Ice Phoenix! ✨
Our synchro sessions have been paused for a few weeks while the rink undergoes essential maintenance, but we’re using this time to prepare for an amazing new season.
We’re in such a strong position moving forward - not only have we welcomed new members to Ice Phoenix, but we’re also proud to have launched a development team too! ⛸️
The future is looking bright, and we can’t wait to get back on the ice when the rink reopens.

Giving a big shout out to Nikki Sibeon as she prepares to skate in Milton Keynes this week where she will compete in the inclusive British championships.
Nikki will be skating at Level 3 for the first time in free skating on Wednesday, and on Thursday she will be showcasing her new level 1 dance routine which incorporates a lot of backward skating.
It’s difficult to ice skate in normal circumstances but when you are visually impaired the challenge is on another level! We have the utmost respect and admiration for Nikki and can’t wait to see where her journey takes her !! Go girl ⛸️⛸️🌟

We’ve had a fantastic few weeks at our synchronised skating trials, meeting some wonderful new skaters and welcoming them into our growing synchro skating family ⛸️
It’s been great to see so many people giving synchro a try, supporting each other on the ice and enjoying the team spirit that makes this sport so special.
Next week is our final free trial session, so if you’ve been thinking about coming along, we’d love to see a few more new faces on the ice!
Come and experience what synchronised skating is all about. ❄️💙

We wanted to share with you an inspirational journey by our team mate
🌟Sarah🌟
Sarah’s daughter first asked to go to the rink in May after going to a friend’s skating party. Sarah got on the ice too – mainly to keep warm – with her son , and the pair of them sharing a penguin skating aid 🤣
In September , after a few group lessons for Isla and the occasional lesson for herself when there were cancellations, their coach , Laurel suggested synchro for Isla… and somehow Sarah was talked into trying it too while working on Skate UK Level 7. …. And what a journey that has been, from never stepping on the ice until December 2023 , Sarah took part in the Britannia Cup in January 2026 and the Steel City Trophy in March !! ⛸️
What an achievement- one brought about by sheer determination and hard work, and now the team wouldn’t be complete without her !
Sarah has said that the team were incredibly supportive and encouraging, and synchro really helped develop her skating. It also brought something she’d never experienced before – being part of a team – along with a lovely social side 🥂, relaxation, and improved fitness.
It’s hard to believe that someone who could barely stand up on the ice two years ago is now competing at this level!
So if you’ve ever thought about getting trying synchronised skating this is your sign to give it a go …. Just look what is possible !!! 💕
🌟🌟🌟🌟Come and try for yourself 🌟🌟🌟🌟
