Great turnout for our Ladies Lucky Dip on Friday evening. Six rounds of doubles, different partners each time. Lots of great tennis and very close at the end. Well done to everyone who played.

What a fantastic turnout for the Somer Valley Tennis Club Mixed Doubles Championships, with an impressive 24 entries taking part!
The competition was played in great spirits, with plenty of fun, laughter and, of course, some fiercely competitive tennis. There was even a few bumps and bruises along the way — including a black eye for Kathy, who showed great determination and persevered right through to the end!
Congratulations to our finalists Liz and Randy, and Naomi and Sam, who put on a great display of tennis. A special mention must go to Naomi, who has made a fantastic return to the court following a long period away and numerous operations on her feet. It was wonderful to see her back playing and competing.
A huge thank you to Patrick and Ffiona for their terrific organisation and for capturing the event with some great photographs.
Well done to everyone who took part — we’re already looking forward to the next championship!

Research shows that exercise improves your health and wellbeing. Somer Valley Tennis Club, based in the indoor courts at Dragonfly Leisure Centre, Writhlington, with the aid of Avon Tennis are offering FREE (one hour) TENNIS SESSIONS to any adults new to the game or has not played for many years.
Choose any six weeks from 2/9/26 to 10/2/27 10-11am Wednesdays
(excluding 28/10, 4/11, 22/12,30/12). Jenny will be there to ensure that you are having fun and guide you through the basic rules. (Please note that this is not a formal coaching session).

An excellent ladies social tennis afternoon at Beckington Tennis Club, really well organised by Helen and Andy. Some fantastic tennis and the round robin format saw Kelly come out as top player with Beckington just pipping SVT by 97 games to 95. Men’s Doubles Lucky Dip – 4th September 2026
What a fantastic competition the men had in the lucky dip doubles. A great atmosphere on and off the courts with a barrage of great points and banter. Well done to everyone who took part and thank you to James and Ffiona for keeping the event flowing so successfully. Not forgetting Patrick who works tirelessly behind the scenes working out order of play for each event.

An Extremely competitive yet fun evenings tennis was held on the indoor courts at Join us at Writhlington and Midsomer Norton! , Writhlington to start off this year’s club championships. Only one win separating the top 6 pairs in the ladies’ doubles, in the end the 2 pairs qualifying for the final were Christine and Rachel and Jenny P and Louise, with Jenny B and Janie only losing out with third place by 2 games. Congratulations to every who took part, and a special thank you too Rich for keeping everything running smoothly!!
