Moment of self reflection: Me 6 years apart. The difference strength training with weights (& loving yourself a little more) makes …..
1st photo: Me 7th Aug 2020 up one my favourite hills, a size 8 and my clothes hanging off me. I wasn’t eating properly and was in a dark place in my head after a personal heartbreak. I thought I had to (and wanted) to be skinny to be attractive at the time… in hindsight I looked really ill.🥺
2nd photo: Today. 9th August 2026 with 3 years weight training behind me. I’m not as lean as I could be but that’s a conscious choice because I’ve been enjoying life a lot lately going out lots etc and haven’t been concerned about watching my nutrition closely, but I still know I could drop some body fat if I wanted too. But that’s the thing …..I’m happy where I am. And that’s a big mind-shift. I’m a size 12 & far healthier looking, far stronger and have had no complaints from anyone about me having a few more curves than before 💁🏻♀️
It’s been something that’s dawned on me the last few months as certain chapters in my life have closed - just how much happier and more confident in myself I am since joining the gym and training weights, which has then led to me being able to find far more positive connections in life too …. plus I’m able to enjoy the added bonus of all the health benefits of it has for a 40 year old woman. So it’s really a no brainer for me now to train to be strong, not skinny. 💪🏻
