☀️🍻 PLAYERS vs PARTNERS 2026 🍻☀️

Well… what a brilliantly chaotic couple of hours THAT was! 😂🐾

Players vs Partners is always one of our favourite Wildcats days — sunshine, rounders, plenty of laughs and, naturally, the men contesting absolutely EVERY rule. 🤣

This year we even came prepared with an actual umpire… and despite being told they were obstructing nearly every ball — sometimes while our players were literally on the floor 😂 — they STILL tried to argue their case!

A MASSIVE thank you to Summer for coming down to umpire and somehow keeping control of the chaos. We’re not sure you quite knew what you were signing up for! 😂❤️

It was a close one, but the Partners eventually took the bragging rights…

For an incredible SIX rounders! 👏🔥

For some incredible work in the field, including THREE catches one after another — although apparently each catch required its own dramatic turn and tumble. 😂🤸‍♂️

🏆 Partners’ choice – Frankie
For absolutely smashing it at backstop AND with the bat, getting some brilliant rounders along the way! 💪🐾

And obviously there were beers in the sunshine afterwards… and, let’s be honest, during the game too. 🍻☀️😂

We LOVE days like this, especially watching the husbands and partners slowly realise that rounders is a LOT harder than it looks… and that those balls are actually bloody HARD! 😂💥

Lots of laughs, plenty of questionable tactics, a bit of rolling around on the floor, even more arguing with the umpire and a fair few beers. Pretty much a perfect Wildcats afternoon. ❤️🐾

Congrats to the Partners… enjoy those bragging rights while you can. 👀

That’s why we’re getting behind this fantastic event, raising vital funds for Bradford Hospitals Charity and supporting patients, families and staff across Bradford Teaching Hospitals.

🚴‍♀️🏃‍♂️🚣‍♀️ 24 hours. 3 machines. 1 big goal.

Taking place 18–19 September 2026 at Bradford Royal Infirmary, the Therapy Dash is all about coming together, getting moving and making a real difference.

☀️💙 WILDCATS TRAINING REPORT 💙☀️

This week’s training focus: batting while temporarily blinded by the sun. 😎

A niche skill, perhaps, but Wednesday night gave us plenty of opportunity to practise it.

With the sun positioned perfectly behind the bowler, the general technique became:

☀️ Squint
🏏 Swing hopefully
🙏 Pray
😂 Listen for clues as to where the ball actually went

Somehow, some absolute belters were hit. Others… were less successful. But in our defence, being able to see the ball is usually considered quite important in rounders.

Actual useful training aside, we laughed, chatted, caught up after the summer holidays and generally remembered why Wednesday nights with this lot are always a highlight of the week. 💙

Huge thanks to Yeadon Cricket Club for giving us a home for training — even if someone did apparently arrange the sun directly behind the bowler.

WHAT A SEASON! ⚡️💙

Wharfedale Wildcats finish Division 6 feeling incredibly proud. Seeing how far we’ve come in just one year — both as a team and as friends — is pretty special. And now… Division 5, we’re ready for you! 🔥

A huge thank you to Spen Valley Cricket & Bowling Club for hosting our home games throughout the season, and to Yeadon Cricket Club for giving us a home.

Thank you to all the umpires who give their time, energy and dedication to keep our brilliant women’s sport going. 💙

Our FINAL game of the season… and WHAT. A. GAME!

We went in focused and did what Wildcats do best — played loud, played proud, supported each other and soaked up every moment. And the best bit? WE WON! 🔥

Having so many supporters travel over to cheer us on made it even more special. We heard you, we appreciated you and we put our heart and soul into that final game. 💙🤍

🏆 UMPIRES’ POM — JO
After injury meant Jo hadn’t batted all season, she finally got her chance… and absolutely SMASHED IT! Incredible batting and scoring earned her a very well-deserved POM.

We couldn’t choose our own Wildcats’ Girl of the Game because every single player brought something brilliant, but Jo deserved a special shout-out — not just for tonight, but for being a top supporter from the sidelines all season. A true Wildcat on and off the pitch. 💙

For throwing herself around between first and second and a cracking performance in the field! 🔥

🦇BATS v CATS! 🐾

Last night saw the Wharfedale Wildcats take on Brighouse Bats, and the Cats came away with the WIN! 🙌

🏏 FINAL SCORE: WILDCATS 15½ – 11 BATS

We mixed things up in the first innings, trying out a more defensive strategy and some different tactics with one clear mission: STOP. THOSE. ROUNDERS. ✋

In the second innings, we went back to our bread and butter, tightening things up and working hard to stop those sneaky half-rounders too. It paid off! 💪

The Wildcats brought energy, communication and proper teamwork. As always, an absolute joy playing alongside a team we love so much. 🫶

🔥 UMPIRES POM- Heidi– fantastic bowling, brilliantly vocal and managed the team superbly.

🏆 GOG – Griff!
Wildcats Girl of the Game AND Brighouse Bats’ opposition Girl of the Game! Griff pulled off an absolute CORKER of a catch out in deep. The bruise she’ll wake up with was 100% worth it. 😂👏

🤦‍♀️ DOD – Sharpie
For confidently standing her ground on second… despite having already turned the corner to run and therefore being OUT. Didn’t know. Didn’t move. Didn’t have a clue. What a wally. 😂

What a night! 🌙⚾️

A solar eclipse 🌑, a friendly with our besties Horsforth Hawks Rounders Hawks Red and plenty of laughs — what more could you want?

We started with our usual training session in the baking heat ☀️, working on some key skills including directional batting, long barriers and catching high balls.

Then our mates from down the road arrived! After a slightly delayed start while we stopped to watch the very interesting solar eclipse, we got down to business. 😂

A smashing game that felt really close in the first innings, before Hawks rightly took the win. An absolutely brilliant game of rounders from both teams — great gameplay, big hits, rapid throws and some cracking catches! 👏

🏆 Hawks’ Girl of the Game — Nic
Nic was chosen for her amazing performance in the field, with 2 catches and some seriously speedy work getting the ball back exactly where it needed to be!

🏆 Wildcats’ Girl of the Game — Rhi
That girl can WHACK a rounders ball! ⚾️ Rounder after rounder, alongside some amazing work in the field and some rapid throws whenever the Wildcats managed to get the ball anywhere near her.

And of course, no friendly is complete without the post-match celebrations… 🍕🍺
We headed to Against the Grain for a pizza and a pint — the perfect way to finish the evening!

🎉🌍 Celebrating World Rounders Day! 🌍🎉

Today we're celebrating everything that makes rounders so special.

At Wharfedale Wildcats, based at Yeadon Cricket Club, we're proud to be part of a sport that brings women together through friendship, fun, and a shared love of the game.

Rounders is about so much more than hits and catches. It's about supporting one another, building confidence, creating memories, and finding a place where you can truly be yourself.

From the first swing of the bat to the last laugh after the game, we've built a team that feels like family.

Here's to grassroots rounders, women supporting women, and everyone who makes this incredible sport what it is.
