🏏Rawtenstall’s Under 15’s shine bright on a gloomy September night!!🏏
Ribblesdale wanderers were our opposition in this must win game to see us finish league champions.
We were put in to bat and soon found ourselves 4-3 from first 2 overs.
This time of year the ball stays low but credit to their opening pair the ball seemed to be moving around.
➡️Asa Tinker and Ollie Ford dug in and managed to build a partnership putting on 31 runs between them, Asa 10, Ollie 21.
No one else apart from the extras managed to get double figures.
We ended our 16 overs on 65-6.
I had a chat at half time and made them realise that if they wanted to win this game then they needed to be positive, believe in themselves and be unbelievable with the ball and in the field.
Thankfully they didn’t disappoint, I’d go on to say that collectively this season that is probably the best bowling and fielding display I’ve seen from them all.
Moments of magic change games and inspire others… I’m pleased to say we had many moments of magic last night.
➡️Seth O’Connor’s wicket the very first ball of their innings.
➡️Asa Tinkers wicket in the 5th over with the score already on 26 was crucial.
➡️Adie Tinker bowling a tight line and length deservedly picking up 2 wickets clean bowled in his spell 3 overs 2 for 8 just what we needed fantastic.
40 for 4 at the half way stage, it was going to be close but Ribblesdale still had the edge.
➡️Alfie Egan and Ollie Ford linked up well for our next wicket, getting us a run out, well done lads.
One of their batters was starting to play himself in hitting the ball with ease.
➡️Up stepped George Hoskin, 2 wickets in his first over just narrowly missing out on his hat trick.
A brilliant spell especially given the circumstances, 3 overs 2-4, wickets tumbled and their main man was gone..
Oden Ball on debut for the under 15’s bowled the best I’ve ever seen him bowl, a mix of pace and accuracy tied the batters back further getting us another wicket.
‼️Austin Riley-Howarth’s catch in the deep was next level, well done Austin, a massive catch.
57 for 8 going in to the last over, Ribblesdale needing 9 from it to win.
Who should bowl this vital pressure over…. Non other than Henry Shellard.
Henry plays in our under 11’s team and played for us last week but with the scores so close he didn’t get chance to bowl.
I turned to him and asked if he fancies it…. A nod of the head and the ball was in his hand.. it was great to see all the lads backing him and really encouraging him.
The bails were sent flying on his fourth ball, Asa held on to a catch on his fifth ball.. get in..
Ribblesdale were all out for 58
‼️Henry 5 balls, 2-1… what a way to end, he’s on a hat trick ball. Superb.‼️
➡️Zak was solid behind the wickets and Romeo pounced on everything in the field.
An unbelievable total team performance… delighted for them all…. League winners!!!!
What an ending to a fantastic season, the team spirit is superb, all backing each other up and constantly encouraging each other.
The lads have all worked hard this year and deserve to lift the cup.
