A simple way to get started. For Top Spin notice we start with the racket head below the racket handle and for slice we start with the head above the handle. Just starting with the racket in these positions can help the child find the correct swing path for top spin and slice.

Zack is right handed, you may see us getting your children to hit left handed forehands during tennis classes! Please don't think we've forgotten what hand your child plays tennis with! When hitting a double handed backhand it is the left hand that should control the shot! This is great practice to make the backhand stronger! Also I believe as tennis evolves in the coming years there will be top players that can hit two forehands! Either way this practice is a win win!

Massive congrats to Rayleigh Tennis Academy player Sofia Nice and her Rayleigh Club mate Kyla Eves who represented Essex Under 18 Girls and both won all 3 of their County Singles Matches!
This was the first time Sofia has represented the county which is an amazing achievement for someone who has just turned 15!
Sofia won her first match 4-0, 5-3, then her second match 4-1, 5-3 and her final match a very impressive 4-0, 4-1. The counties they beat were Nottingham, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire. Well done to both girls and also to the Essex team for the 3 victories!

What an amazing summer for Rayleigh Tennis Academy's Sofia. At 14 years old she started the summer winning the Ladies Southend & District Singles, played in several high level singles tournaments with some great results, worked really hard on her game and has now won both the Essex Open ( with fellow Rayleigh Academy player Layla Rowe) and more recently the Essex closed Girls under 18 Doubles (with clubmate Kyla Eves) Sofia is currently ranked 11 in Essex for Girls 16& Unders and is poised to break into the top 10! Well done Sofia and keep up the hard work!

What a star! Rayleigh Tennis Academy's Cristian Hicks has completed a brilliant summer by winning the Essex Closed Championship in the Under 9 age group! Cristian also finished 5th in the 10& Unders. We believe the points earned will.make him the new number 1 in Essex for his age group! This caps aoff a great summer for Cristian who had already won some Grade 3& Grade 4 tournaments! Well done Cristian!

After a slow start and going 4-0 down the girls showed great character coming back to win 9 of the next 13 games, losing the first set 6-3 before taking control and winning the 2nd set 6-2. Unfortunately lost the tie break decider but both should be proud of the resilience they showed fighting their way back into a match. Well done girls!
