5️⃣ Common Mis-Beliefs 🤥
Most athletes don’t have an effort problem.
They have a thinking problem.
They believe more sessions always means more progress.
They think playing their sport is enough to develop every physical quality they need.
They chase PBs every week, copy the latest exercises from social media and judge sessions by how exhausted they feel afterwards.
The problem is…
Those beliefs don’t just slow your progress—they can completely change the way you train.
The athletes who improve the most aren’t always the most talented.
They’re the ones who understand why they’re doing what they’re doing.
They train with intent.
They recover with intent.
They progress with intent.
Because performance isn’t built by one great session.
It’s built by hundreds of the right ones.
Which myth do you see most often? 👇

Lifting Will Make You Not Break You
Most footballers don’t get injured because they lift.
They get injured because their body isn’t prepared for what football demands.
Every sprint.
Every tackle.
Every change of direction.
Every high-speed deceleration.
They’re all stress.
The question isn’t whether your body will experience load…
It’s whether it can tolerate it.
One of the biggest mistakes I see during pre-season is players completely ditching the gym because they’re worried about feeling tired.
The answer isn’t to stop lifting.
The answer is to manage the dosage.
During pre-season we typically reduce overall gym volume, avoid unnecessary soreness, and limit exercises that create excessive fatigue.
But we don’t stop building strength.
We don’t stop training power.
We don’t stop improving robustness.
Because those qualities are exactly what help you handle the increasing demands of football.
I’ve already seen multiple injuries during pre-season this year.
Not because players were in the gym…
But because their bodies weren’t ready for the amount of running, sprinting, training and matches they were suddenly exposed to.
Your gym work should support your football, not compete with it.
Off-season is where you build the engine.
Pre-season is where you prepare it for the road.
Get that transition right and you’ll give yourself the best chance of staying available when it matters most.
