πŸ›Ÿ Summer Water Safety – Key Advice from Royal Life Saving Society UK

When temperatures reach 25Β°C or higher, the risk of accidental drowning can increase fivefold. To stay safe around water this summer, follow the RLSS Water Safety Code:

Stop and Think – Look for dangers before entering the water
Stay Together – Never swim alone
Float – If in trouble, lie on your back and stay calm
Call 999 – Get help in an emergency

βœ… Practical Safety Tips
- Swim in lifeguarded areas whenever possible
- Be cautious of cold water shock – enter water slowly, even on hot days
- Avoid inflatables in open water – they can drift away quickly

Speak up if someone is taking risks

Know emergency actions:
If you fall in β†’ float and call for help
If someone else is in trouble β†’ throw something that floats (don’t jump in)
