Last week, Walk Works were delighted to host a team of Reading solicitors and their clients in an afternoon of w**e tasting, walking and wonder.
We met the owners of boutique Henley vineyards, Oaken Grove Vineyard and Fairmile Vineyard, who welcomed us into their family run establishments and shared their knowledge and passion of the English w**e scene. We ate a wholesome and delicious lunch while sitting on the terrace overlooking the vines, and were delighted by the peace, the changing skies above us, the trees in the distance and the comical chickens and friendly vineyard cats at our feet.
We walked leisurely for an hour and a half, pausing along the way for snippets of information on the local history of the landscape, and nature appreciation. We read out a poem under an ancient oak tree to allow everyone to engage in the present, enjoy the views and embrace in the calm of the moment. We learned about Ironhenge, saw interesting railway memorabillia, giant sequoia trees, many species of deer, two scruffy emus and the most incredible views.
Really great things happen when you allow yourself the time to step away from the office and the everyday aspects of work. There is something so magical about just being outside, walking side by side, being out in the elements and reflecting on the natural world all around you.
Our team had a thoroughly enjoyable time together. The afternoon was incredibly relaxed and a lot of fun. The perfect mid-week reset.
Who knew that something as simple as a walk could offer up so much wonder.
