Join Dr.Naomi Middleton this Wednesday for a wonderfully nurturing Restorative practice: Unravel to Rest, in person or online at 8pm.
Last two practices with Naomi this December 14th and 21st Dec! (no class 28th Dec).
Restorative Yoga has so many benefits to our whole being, psychologically and physically. It helps to balance the nervous system, boost immunity, helps improve sleep and to de stress.
It does seem to be one of the hardest classes for us to prioritise but one that leaves us feeling so nurtured, safe and rested. There is a lot of stress that we face on a day to day basis so we can often find it hard to be still.
This class starts with gentle movement, which will help to release stress and tension, leading us into stillness to be able to receive the benefits of this restorative practice, one which nurtures our physical and psychological wellbeing.

Stew is coming to Yoginah and we CANT WAIT to practice with our teacher in person again! ๐
Join Stew for a practical workshop demonstrating how the 5 principles of Yamas in Patanjaliโs Classical Yoga can be integrated into an asana and a yoga practice.
The workshop consists of the four practical aspects of astanga yoga: mantra, asana, pranayama and dhyana (meditation).
It is open to all levels though not for complete beginners. You should have a yoga practice and be prepared to sweat.

The term Prana can be translated to 'Lifeforce energy' or any life giving energy. It is within us and around us. The term 'ayama' can be translated to 'expansion' or 'dimension', therefore Pranayama is the expansion or dimension of the Prana. The breath is merely the surface.
In Pranayama class, expect to practice ancient Yogic breathing practices, including methods to expand, lengthen, manipulate or retain the breath.
You will leave feeling calmer, clear and a sense of clarity ๐

Last chance to join us this Sunday 27th Nov for a Gong Bath with Charlie Merton following today's New Moon in Sagittarius. Coming out of the height and intensity of the eclipse period yet in the midst of Mars retrograde.
The eclipse portal can be a time of intensity for many, itโs a period where the light from the luminaries (sun and moon) is obscured, so itโs a not a time to initiate anything, although of course some things need continuation and motion, so in this case slow down and simply focus on taking a step at a time, rather than giant leaps!
Coming out the challenging eclipse period, there could be a renewed energy and an impetus to start a project, begin a new hobby, or set a target which is supported by the this new moon growth phase. The symbol of the Sagittarius Archer shows us to set focus and attention to a chosen target and then trust that the bow with the support of the conditions (the right wind direction) will help the arrow to hit the target.
The eclipse season can be a time of feeling heavy, exhausted and lack of motivation, if you are experiencing this energetic hangover, or in way of supporting your energetic bank account, take some time be be still and quiet to gather a scattered mind. Take time to rest more to support better sleep. The gong bath can also help with that, giving you time to be still and bathed within the relaxing and transformative vibrations of multiple gongs and other instruments.
A gong bath is an ancient type of sound therapy in which you get comfortable either laying or seated position to receive the waves from these sacred instruments, transmitting the frequencies which connect you and balance you within and without.

If you've not been to a Gong Bath before, you may just think it's lying around listening to music and wonder what all the fuss is about.
If you have been however, chances are you keep coming back!
In our experience, you can come away feeling like you've shed a layer of heavy emotion and even feel a natural grounded high!
A gong bath is more than an auditory experience, the vibrations work through the body. Itโs sometimes called working with the third ear.
The gong waves are physical and enter the body influencing the cellular activity. The sound waves move through the whole body so that when an energetic /physical blockage are encountered sensations around those areas may heighten.

It was so wonderful to meet, practice, sit and chat with a couple of weeks back at her Dynamic Yoga and The Yoga Manifesto workshop.
We practiced Ashtanga before sitting in a circle with a cuppa herbal tea, chatting about Yoga and life. It was wonderful to hear everyone's unique experiences and connect in such a wholesome authentic way ๐ค
Our space is always available to sit and chat before and after classes. Workshops are an incredible way to learn more, deep dive and bring together community.
Cant think of better ways to spend Saturdays and Sundays โบ๏ธ
PS Nadia's book will be added to our library once Purdy is done reading it, so grab yourself a tea or smoothie after class and get stuck in!

We have a new class starting October 25th for select dates through to December!
Yoga Conditioning and Mobility!
So often, movement is undertaken whilst distracted or in a rush. In this class we take chosen postures and break down the shape. This gives our body, mind and breath an opportunity to explore how this feels encouraging full presence beyond just the physical body.
This class is aimed to act as a bridge between a novice and someone who is becoming more experienced. A space to understand how your individual body moves and breathes in order to develop further.
A mixture of flow, breakdown of specially chosen poses for the class, some mobility work focusing on key areas of the body for chosen poses, Pranayama (Breathwork) and a soothing Relaxation helping us to wind down for the evening.
Karishma is Yoga teacher and also practices as a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist specialising in persistent pain management.

THIS SATURDAY ๐๐๐ Dynamic Yoga & The Yoga Manifesto Workshop lead by Nadia Gilani.
Nadia is a yoga teacher and author of The Yoga Manifesto published earlier this year. She first discovered yoga after her mum took her to a class in the 1990s (and she really didnโt want to go!) She has been practicing ever since.
So if you also fall into that category, this workshop could be for you!
The afternoon will kick off with a 75 minute dynamic practice rooted in Ashtanga followed by tea and conversation. Nadia will introduce her book, share a reading and answer any questions you might have. You'll also have the opportunity to buy Nadia's book and maybe hear an informal short reading. (if you've already got a copy of the book feel free to bring it along if you'd like to get it signed!)

We pride ourselves on the inclusive community and relaxed feel we embody at Yoginah. You don't have to be quiet if you don't feel like it before/after class, but you totally can if that's your jam.
We have a space to hang out after class, to enjoy a good book, a smoothie or tea and a friendly deep or silly natter.
We know we always go on about quietening the 'chatter of the mind', but here you get to speak your truth.
We've personally made lots of friends here and continue to build our beautiful family ๐ค๐ฅน It's truly an honour.

Feeling the pull to turn inwards and hibernate now weโre in Autumn? US TOO!
Yoga Nidra can really help us ground and relax into slowing down. You might have heard it referred to as yogic sleep, but this is an incorrect interpretation...
Here is Omโs explanation, straight from the source;
Yoga-Nidra is a traditional Indian practice of pratyahara - or sense withdrawal - that relaxes and restores, without need for sleep. Often mis-translated as 'yogic sleep', the purpose of yoga-nidra is in fact to forgo the bodily need for sleep, bypassing those processes entirely and rejuvenating the energy by releasing that which drains us from the subconscious while simultaneously developing the foundational skills needed for meditation.
