FARLEY HILL C.C VS SHINFARLEY HILL FIELD C.C. 15.08.2020 PART 1

FARLEY HILL C.C WIN
Last week's games saw a trip to Bagshot Cricket Club in the Surrey Slam before the 1st XI took on Farley Hill Cricket Club on Saturday in a must win game in the Berkshire League August Cup.

At Bagshot Park the hosts batted first putting an intimidating 182-7 on the board. Only Lachlan Birse (3-28) was able to stem the tide in an otherwise powerful batting display.

In reply the Camels looked out of the contest despite Narendra Gogna (21) and Harj Singh (21) getting themselves in. However, up stepped Aussie Lachlan Birse (55* off 18 balls) to smash the Bagshot bowling to all parts. Unfortunately that meant him retiring with just a few balls left and whilst Sam Green-Armytage smoked 10 off the two balls he faced we finished up just short to lose by 4 runs.

On Saturday the Camels batted first in a must win game against Farley Hill and looked well set thanks to Andy Tutty (75) and Ted Batchelor (45) putting on 115 for the second wicket. However, momentum was lost in the later overs and the home side finished up a little below par on 189-7 from their 40 overs.

In reply the visitors got off to a flyer, scoring freely in the first 15 overs which set up the game for them. Whilst veterans Aron Shallom (2-32) and Simon Hards (2-36) managed to make some inroads, it was not to be and the visitors came away with a 6 wicket win.

This leaves the Saturday team outside of the top two who will go on to contest the cup, though the side can be happy with competing with many of the sides in the division they would have been promoted to this year but for Covid.

This weekend we have 3 sides out again as we look to take advantage of the warm weather for some more cricket! 🌞

We welcome 4 new players to the club over the weekend as the 1st XI take on Farley Hill Cricket Club at the Memorial Park whilst the 2nd XI take on Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club in a local derby as they look to get back to winning ways.

On Sunday the Camels travel up the A30 to take on Bagshot Cricket Club in a friendly.

Go Camels 🏏🐪
This weekend has seen the Camels consolidate their positions at the top of Division 1 and 3 of the Berkshire League with 2 more wins. So far in the league season we have now won 8 from 8 👊🙌🏏

The 1st XI travelled the short distance to Farley Hill Cricket Club and batted first. Contributions from Adam Birch (63), Adam Battisson (38), Ted Batchelor (40) and Lachlan Birse (55*) saw the Camels post a competitive total of 241 for 6 from their 40 overs.

In reply wickets fell at fairly regular intervals with Farley Hill eventually bowled out for 204 in the final over. Lachlan Birse returned 5-40 and Luke Mills 2-32 as the Camels completed a 4th win on the bounce.

The 2nd XI hosted Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club 3rd XI at the Memorial Park and batted first. They had Chris Pharo (28) and Dan Chesterman (18) to thanks for their total of 114 which was felt to be around par on a tricky wicket for batting.

In reply the bowlers were always in control with Mark Clapham (3-9 off 8 overs), Martin Pharo (2-9 off 8 overs), Calvin Hall (2-15) and Ejaz Rafique (2-16) doing the damage. The opposition managed to complete their 40 overs scoring 84-9 leading to a 30 win run for the Camels.

Both sides are now riding high in their respective divisions with one more win/lose game to come next weekend.

There is also a quiz night at the club on Friday evening from 7.30pm and we look forward to seeing everyone there!

Farley Hill Cricket Club was formed in 1889. The club and ground is located in the picturesque surroundings in the village of Farley Hill. We have excellent facilities and one of the friendliest atmospheres you'll find anywhere.

It is arguably the most enjoyable places to watch and play cricket, so if you're in the area - pack a picnic and wander down with the family and come and see for yourself!

Operating as usual
