MEBC Ladies Friendly v Woodley

11th Aug 26, MEBC vs Woodley Ladies Friendly - The MEBC Ladies received a very warm welcome from Woodley for our friendly match. As it was such a hot afternoon, we decided to play just 14 ends. We had one winning rink, one drawn rink and, sadly, one losing rink.

Congratulations to our winning rink of Gill, Lilian and Janet — well done, ladies!

There was some great bowling from both sides, and it was a lovely afternoon of bowls. 🌞

Thank you to Woodley for your warm welcome and a great game!

4th Aug 26 - Friendly against 3 Mile Cross. On Tuesday we welcomed TMX for our Ladies friendly match. The weather was kind to us and there was even a sprinkle of rain. It was a hard-fought match but played in good spirit. We did have one winning rink but sadly we lost on the other two rinks meaning a win for TMX. A lovely afternoon with some great bowling. Well done to all MEBC ladies who played so well.

27 Jul 26, KLV-C - MEBC hosted Maidenhead Town D in a rearranged match from June. After a couple of defeats we needed a win to ease our very precarious league position. We prevailed and the win we needed was achieved by a scoreline of 74-32 and 10-0 points. Skips Adnan, Mark and Damian a much needed win but probably not enough to stay in the division.

28th July 26- MEBC Ladies Friendly. A lovely sunny day for our ladies friendly match against Thatcham. It was a closely contested game as the rink scores show. Thatcham just pipped us at the post but a great afternoon was had by all. Rink scores: 13-14, 11-13, 8-10. Well done to all Maiden Erlegh ladies who played so well.

28 Jul 26 - KL-A. The Kennet League A team went into their final match of the regular season at Three Mile Cross, knowing that a win would be necessary to secure their position as winners of Division 2 East ahead of rivals Maidenhead Thicket. The pressure was on, but the team performed strongly again, winning on 3 rinks and drawing on one, to confirm the league title!

Congratulations to all who have played for the team this year.

Rink scores: 25-15, 29-11, 19-14, 17-17. Skips: Mark Hiley, Mike Fraser, Mike Lewis and Trevor Wright.

20 Jul 26, KLV-B vs Reading (away). A good encounter with Reading B which went to the outcome of the third rink to decide the overall result. Unfortunately it went to Reading and we lost 8-2 and 55 shots to 51. Mick D's rink won well but it was not enough to offset the losses on Keith B's and Peter H's. With one round of matches to go for us we're still in with a shout of winning the division. Rink scores:19-8, 14-21, 18-26.

Tuesday 21st July 2026- Ladies friendly match at Maiden Erlegh bowls club versus Tilehurst. A warm and pleasant afternoon for the match which was a relief from the very hot weather we have had lately. The match was nip and tuck all the way and the end result was a draw. A good time was had by all and the company was great. Each team had a winning rink. The winning rink for MEBC was Liz A. Teresa and Gill. Well done ladies.

15th July 2026- Friendly away vs Woodley

With most minds thinking about England's semi final against Argentina later that evening it was agreed to reduce the match to 14 ends and forego the pleasantries afterwards. What followed was was a good tussle with Woodley on another warm evening, ending with the rinks shared and an overall victory for MEBC by 55-42 shots. The bulk of the difference is down to the extraordinary exploits of Geoff M, Tracey B and Derek P who were 20-0 up after 10 ends, going on to win 25-2. Rink scores: 12-15, 11-9, 7-16, 25-2,
Skips: Peter H, Frank C, Chris N, Geoff M
