Would you stand barefoot on a bed of nails?
This is a Sadhu board practice: a guided experience of standing on specially made boards covered with rows of evenly spaced nails. The sensation is intense. With a guide beside you, you use your breath to stay present and notice what happens in your mind and body as you meet the challenge.
People come to the practice with an intention: something they want to face honestly, a choice they are ready to make, or a step they have been postponing. The board doesn’t make that change for you. It creates a powerful moment to focus on it—and to notice the fear, doubt or determination that comes up when you do.
Your intention might be:
“I’m ready to have the conversation I keep putting off.”
“I choose to stop making myself smaller to keep everyone else comfortable.”
“I’m ready to trust my decision and take the first practical step.”
“I want to honour what has ended and make space for what comes next.”
As the practice ends, stepping off the board can become a personal ritual: a physical expression of the step you’re choosing to take in your life.
It’s a strong, personal experience, held with care and at your own pace. We finish with the calming sound of singing bowls, allowing time to rest and reflect.
What would your intention be?
This is a spiritual wellbeing practice, not a medical treatment. It may not be suitable for everyone.
