Another brilliant weekend for RTC! 💙💪

Saturday saw Julie & Martin take on The Lap – Windermere 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🌊

The Lap is a tough 47-mile (75km) ultra-marathon circumnavigating the beautiful shores of Lake Windermere in the Lake District. It’s a seriously challenging event, with plenty of elevation, technical trails and some spectacular scenery — although the weather definitely didn’t make it any easier! 😳🌧️

It was a brutal day with pretty grim conditions, but you both dug deep, battled through and finished in amazing times. Absolutely incredible achievement — well done Julie & Martin! 🤩👏

Saturday also saw Kaylie Busby, Jack, Rachel, Jacqui & Sami take on the Sundowner Olympic Distance Triathlon, with Neil competing in the Aquabike 🏊‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♀️

What a brilliant day it was, with Jacqui & Neil absolutely smashing it and taking 1st place in their age groups! 🥇 Huge congratulations to you both, and well done Kaylie, Jack, Rachel & Sami — fantastic racing from all of you! 👏🤩

Then Sunday saw Ethan Burt take on the Vitruvian 70.3 Triathlon! 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️

And this wasn’t even Ethan’s first 70.3 of the season — he’s already taken on an Ironman just in the last few weeks too! 😳🤯 Ethan, you really are a machine! 🤩💪 What an incredible season you’re having!

And while some were battling it out at events here in the UK, some of our club members took their training weekend to Spain for a little bit of sunshine, swimming, biking and running! ☀️🏊‍♀️🚴🏽‍♀️🏃‍♀️ What a way to train! 😎

Another fabulous weekend for RTC! 🤩💙

On Saturday, Nicky Mellons took on the incredible THE ROC England – and what an epic challenge it is! Starting with a 1.5km swim in Windermere, competitors then take on a bike ride through the stunning Lake District before heading out on foot to summit Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain, followed by another bike leg and a final trail run to the finish. In total, it’s an incredible 112km across five stages, with a whopping 6,916ft of total ascent! 🏊🏼‍♀️🚴🏼‍♀️🏔️🏃🏼‍♀️ (THE ROC⁠)

Nicky absolutely smashed it, coming 1st in her Age Group and 10th female overall! 🥇👏 But that wasn’t all… she even took the time to stop and administer first aid to a fellow competitor who had taken a nasty fall and sustained a head injury. Absolutely amazing work, Nicky – both on and off the course! ❤️👏

We also saw our wonderful Peter Ball taking on his 176th triathlon at Alderford! 😱👏 What an incredible achievement. Well done, Peter – keep smashing it! 💪🏊🏼‍♂️🚴🏼‍♂️🏃🏼‍♂️

On Sunday, some of our members came together for our monthly social bike ride 🚴🏼‍♂️ We head out on the first Sunday of every month, and it’s such a lovely way to build confidence and strength on the bike while enjoying some great company too. And, of course, no social bike ride would be complete without stopping for a nice cuppa and a slice of cake along the way! ☕🍰

There are only a few weeks of the triathlon season left, but that certainly doesn’t mean the training stops! Our members will continue to train throughout the week with regular swim, bike and run sessions, as well as our Strength & Conditioning session on a Monday. Strength work is such an important part of training and helps to keep our members strong and ready for whatever challenge comes next! 💪

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Another fantastic weekend for Redcar Tri Club! 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

Lots of running for the club this weekend! 💪

Peter Dunne represented RTC all the way over in Australia 🇦🇺, taking on the Sydney Marathon and absolutely smashing it with an amazing 3:45! 💪🔥 Incredible racing, Peter! What an achievement! Now it’s time to relax and enjoy the rest of your holiday 😎🌴

A little closer to home, a couple of our members enjoyed Brotton Parkrun on Saturday 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️👏

Then on Sunday, Pam, Brenda Thompson Tracy Ruddick took on the Hardmoors Roseberry 10K & Half Marathon 🏔️🏃‍♀️ Pam absolutely smashed the 10K and came 1st in her age group! 🥇👏 Brilliant running!

And it wasn’t all about running… a few of our ladies enjoyed a lil’ social ride, taking in the sights of Redcar 🚴‍♀️🌊☀️

A special shout-out to BellaDonna Appleby-Roe too, who was busy supporting events over the weekend! 🙌 On Saturday she was a sweeper for the Punk Panther Dales Dazzler, before heading back out on Sunday to sweep the Roseberry Hardmoors 10K.

Sweepers and marshals are such an important part of keeping our events going, and without the amazing people who give up their time to volunteer, these events simply couldn’t happen. ❤️ So thank you Donna, and thank you to everyone who gives up their time to support races and events! 👏

Whether you were racing, training, volunteering, cycling, running, swimming, taking on a Parkrun, enjoying a social ride or simply getting yourself out the door this weekend — every effort counts! 🙌

It’s not always about PBs, podiums or big miles. Sometimes it’s about turning up, challenging yourself, supporting others and enjoying being part of this amazing community. ❤️

Keep showing up, keep putting in the work and most importantly, keep enjoying the journey! 💪🔥

🌍👟 GIVING YOUR RUNNING SHOES A SECOND CHANCE 👟🌍

Redcar Tri Club are trying to do our bit to help the planet, and we’ve just sent our first 15 pairs of old running shoes off to JOGON! 🤩🙌

With around 18 billion pairs of running shoes sold worldwide and an estimated 33 million pairs ending up in landfill every year, we thought it was time to do something about it. 🌱

JOGON gives unwanted running shoes a second chance, helping to get them back onto the feet of people who need them rather than sending them to landfill. 👟❤️

So, if you’ve got any old running shoes hiding at the back of the cupboard that you no longer use, don’t throw them away!

Bring them along to RTC and we’ll make sure they get a chance to keep someone else moving. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️♻️

One pair of shoes might not seem like much, but together we can make a difference! 💚

🤩 WHAT A WEEKEND FOR REDCAR TRI CLUB! 🤩

It’s been another absolutely fantastic weekend for the club, with so many amazing achievements to celebrate! 🙌

Saturday saw us take over Redcar Parkrun 🎉 We had a fantastic turnout from the club, with members marshalling, pacing runners, encouraging everyone along the way and, of course, baking some delicious cakes for the finish line! 🧁😋

Then onto Sunday…

🏊‍♀️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♀️ Geordieman 70.3
Esther Carr & Ethan Burt took on the Geordieman 70.3 Triathlon, with Esther absolutely smashing the swim (I’m convinced she’s actually a mermaid 🧜‍♀️😂) and Ethan taking this on just one week after completing Ironman Leeds 😳 What an achievement! Well done both! 👏

🏊‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃 Bishopton Triathlon
We had a huge RTC presence at Bishopton, with:

The season might be coming to an end, and I’m definitely a little sad about that… but there’s no slowing down for RTC! We’ll keep training, keep supporting each other and get ourselves ready for next season – and I’ve got a feeling 2027 is going to be even bigger and better for Redcar Tri Club! 🤩🔥

Teesdale Triathlon 2026

We’re heading towards the final countdown to Teesdale Triathlon which is only 4 weeks away and just two weeks until entries close! A great chance for either an end of season race or a first try at triathlon in the beautiful County Durham countryside!

What can you expect from the day:

🏆 A weekend of fantastic achievements for Redcar Triathlon Club! 🏊‍♀️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♀️

We’re going to work backwards and start with Sunday, which saw Jordan Mcmahon & Ethan take on IRONMAN Leeds! 🤩

Sadly, the swim was cancelled due to blue-green algae, but that certainly didn’t stop these two from absolutely smashing the enormous bike and run! 💪🔥

You both did absolutely amazing and we couldn’t be prouder. Jordan & Ethan… YOU ARE AN IRONMAN! 🙌🏅

Sunday also saw Stu, Laura Morley, Becks Claire, Julia, Jo Whistler & Nicola Kydd take on the York Sprint Triathlon 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♂️

🥉 Stu – 3rd overall & 1st in his age group! Fantastic racing, Stu! 👏
🥈 Nicola – 2nd in her age group! Absolutely flying! 🚀

What a brilliant turnout from the club – well done to everyone who took part! ❤️

Then onto Saturday, where Jane Lisa Raif & Peter Ball took on Bassenthwaite Triathlon, with Jane coming an amazing 2nd in her age group! 🙌👏

So many fantastic achievements across the weekend and another reminder of just how incredible our club members are! 💙

A huge well done to everyone who was racing, training or simply putting in the work this weekend. Keep going, keep supporting each other and keep smashing those goals! 💪

This Saturday, Redcar Tri Club are taking over Redcar Parkrun at Locke Park! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Our members will be there marshalling, pacing, running and cheering you on — so why not come down and join us? 🙌

Whether you’re a seasoned Parkrunner, getting back into running, or thinking about starting your running or triathlon journey, Parkrun is a fantastic place to begin. And with plenty of friendly faces and encouragement from the club, you’ll be made to feel right at home! ❤️

🏊‍♀️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♀️ Another busy weekend for the club! 💙

Sunday was a brilliant day for our members, with plenty of you out there training, racing and representing Redcar Triathlon Club! 👏

⛰️ Hardmoors Farndale 10K & Marathon

We had several members take on the beautiful (and challenging!) Farndale routes, with a special shout-out to Jacqui, who took 1st place in her age group! 🥇👏 What an achievement!

🌊 The Big Lime Triathlon – Hartlepool

We also had a fantastic group taking on The Big Lime Triathlon, including a sea swim in the marina… where competitors were joined by what seemed like half the jellyfish population! 🪼😂

A huge well done to Stu, who had an absolutely brilliant race to finish 2nd overall in the Sprint distance! 🥈 Fantastic racing, Stu!

And we had two relay teams taking part too! 🙌

One of the things we love about triathlon is that you don’t have to be able to do all three disciplines to be part of the club. Relay teams are such a great way to experience a triathlon, have some fun and be part of the race-day atmosphere without taking on all three disciplines yourself. 💙

Whether you were training, racing, supporting or simply getting out there and giving it a go, you’re all doing brilliantly.

🏊🏻 Looking to improve your swimming?

Why not join us tonight at Loftus Leisure Centre for our weekly Redcar Triathlon Club swim? Whether you’re training for your next event or just fancy getting some lengths in with great company, you’ll be made very welcome.

We have a swim plan available to follow, or if everyone in your lane is happy, you’re welcome to do your own swim too.

If you’re after a more structured session, we also have a fully coached swim every Friday evening at Redcar Leisure Centre, helping swimmers of all abilities build confidence, improve technique and get fitter.

We also love our open water swimming! 🌊 Throughout the season we enjoy social swims at places like Ellerton Lake, Bishopton Lake and Scaling Dam on a Tuesday evening. So, if open water swimming is something you’ve always fancied trying, we’d love to help you take that next step and enjoy the experience with a friendly group.

Don’t worry if you’re new – we’re a friendly bunch and there’s always plenty of encouragement (and a bit of laughter too… especially if you’re in Lane 1! 😂).

✨ Your first swim session is completely FREE, so why not Tri before you buy? 😉
