⚽ **MATCH REPORT | REDDITCH 15–2 WREXHAM**

🏆 **Northern Wellbeing League**

A new league, a new opponent and a perfect start for Redditch as we welcomed Wrexham for our first-ever fixture in the **Northern Wellbeing League**.

It was the first meeting between the two sides, but Redditch settled quickly and produced a really positive display from start to finish, eventually running out **15–2 winners**.

Dan Nurthen opened the scoring from the penalty spot before grabbing his second after being picked out by Craig Wood.

Walker then opened his FF Redditch account finishing from an Az Benton assist, before Bentley made it four after a great through ball from Wood.

Nurthen completed his **first-half hat-trick** from a Walker assist to put Redditch firmly in control. Wrexham pulled one back before the break, sending the hosts in **5–1 ahead at half-time**.

Redditch came out strongly again after the restart, with Walker grabbing his second of the afternoon before skipper Benton got himself on the scoresheet with a lovely curled effort from outside the box

Kem Nedjat then opened his account for the day after being set up by Knight, before Bowen made it 9–1.

Wrexham found their second, but Redditch continued to push forward. Nedjat grabbed another from a Benton assist before Nurthen added his fourth, with Nedjat turning provider.

Nedjat then completed his own **hat-trick**, with Knight claiming his second assist of the afternoon.

Nurthen wasn't finished either. Two more goals, both created by Nedjat, took his personal tally to an incredible **SIX** for the afternoon, with an own goal completing the scoring.

A fantastic team performance, goals from all over the pitch and plenty of positives to take from our first outing in the NWL.

Most importantly, a great first meeting with Wrexham and we look forward to seeing them again later in the season. 🤝

REDDITCH 6–0 SUTTON 🤍🩶

What. A. Performance. 👏🔥

The boys started strongly against a competitive Sutton side who enjoyed spells on the ball, but Redditch were absolutely ruthless when the opportunities came.

⚽ 1–0 – Ryan Sproston
Kem Nedjat broke free before squaring across goal for Sproz to poke home and get us underway.

⚽ 2–0 – Az Benton
The skipper doubled the advantage, latching onto a ball from Kev Smith before firing home.

⚽ 3–0 – Kem Nedjat
A brilliant interception from Dan Bowen — who seemed to be everywhere today — started the move, with Nedjat getting free and finding the net.

⚽ 4–0 – Sam Bentley
Bentley rounded off a superb first half, breaking down the right before finding the net from distance.

HALF-TIME: REDDITCH 4–0 SUTTON

A couple of changes at the break saw Dan Nurthen introduced up top, and it didn’t take him long to make his mark.

⚽ 5–0 – Dan Nurthen
Another devastating Redditch counter ended with Nedjat unselfishly squaring for Nurthen to tap into an empty net.

The afternoon then took a slight turn when birthday boy Chris Brazier saw red after a last-man challenge went wrong — an earlier shower than planned on his birthday! 🟥🎂

Despite going down to ten men, there was absolutely no let-up. The boys stayed organised, worked for each other and never gave Sutton a chance to find a way back into the game.

Nurthen continued to cause problems, driving at the Sutton defence before being brought down in the box.

Nurth stepped up and calmly dispatched the penalty for his second of the afternoon.

Next up in our Meet the Team series is a player who has really made his mark since returning to the group…

Back with Redditch for the last six months, Craig Wood has quickly cemented his place in midfield and become one of the most reliable players in the squad.

Calm on the ball, blessed with quick feet and always looking to make something happen, Woody has already been voted one of the most skilful players in the group several times by his teammates.

He’s composed in possession, hard to knock off the ball and always seems to have that extra second to pick the right pass.

And he contributes off the pitch too — regularly sorting the food after games and helping keep the lads well fed after 90 minutes! 😂🍔
