We are excited to be hosting an in-person seminar "The Rise of Inclusive Companies" on the 30th September presented by our CEO Heike. Join us for tea, coffee, biscuits - and an unmissable deep-dive into business accessibility strategies and the importance of treating your disabled and neuro-divergent customers with care and respect.

Let's paint the scene. Did you know that...the disability market is no longer a niche audience to consider “later”. It is one of the largest markets globally, representing millions of consumers, employees, and decision-makers with significant purchasing power and influence!

Consider this
- Disabled people represent £446 billion a year in spending power in the UK alone. Of course, the global impact is even greater!
- 62% of employees would reject a job offer from an organisation that isn’t inclusive.
- Companies that prioritise accessibility are 25% more productive and twice as profitable.
- Over half of UK consumers say a brand’s inclusion efforts influence their purchase decisions.
- UK retailers lose up to £17 billion a year by failing to meet the needs of shoppers with disabilities.

Join us at our offices on High Street, Reigate RH2 9AE at 10am - we look forward to seeing you there!

If you've ever questioned why accessibility matters, look at the numbers: at least 1.3 billion people live with a disability worldwide!

Yet most presentations lose part of the room before they've even started. Tiny text nobody at the back can read. Colour contrast that is difficult to read for anyone with colour blindness. Slides packed with information and no way to take it all in.

Caitlin will be hosting an online webinar “Why Most Business Presentations Exclude People Before The Second Slide” on LinkedIn 10am BST, Tuesday 8th Sept breaking down ways to make presentations accessible from the first slide to the last! Join here: https://zurl.co/cIurs

Video Description:
Caitlin Quinn, a white woman with dark curly hair stands in front of a screen, giving a presentation. She is wearing a grey vest over a green shirt and glasses. In the lower third of the screen there is a black box with white writing that says: "POV: Over a billion people on the planet live with a disability"

Caitlin uses her hands to gesture while she is talking. She says;
There are around 1.3 billion people globally who live with a disability, and that is probably an underestimate because we don't have accurate data for every single country."

THIS is what non-compliance with the EAA (European Accessibility Act) can look like...
It's important that businesses are aware of the key steps they need to take in order to avoid the risks of non-compliance.

We will be covering some of the key details regarding the EAA at our next in-person event on the 30th September in Reigate. Register here: https://zurl.co/tk9D9

Even beyond compliance, accessibility is increasingly becoming a competitive advantage. Organisations that invest in accessible customer experiences, inclusive recruitment, accessible digital products, and disability confidence are seeing stronger customer loyalty, broader market reach, improved innovation, and better talent retention.

Proper accessibility is within everyone's grasp and is something Good Access can help with.

Did you know that electric toothbrushes were created for people with limited mobility….?

Throughout history, innovations designed around accessibility have become hugely popular with the wider public. The 'accessibility first' mindset is highly beneficial for companies wanting to grow their business.

Learn more about accessibility at our online and in-person events this September: https://zurl.co/X76RW

Video description:

Caitlin Quinn, a white woman with curly dark hair and glasses, speaks to camera while looking into a bathroom mirror, filmed from behind. She wears a black turtleneck and is holding an electric toothbrush in her hand.

What Caitlin says:

Why do electric toothbrushes exist?
In 1954, the dentist Philip Woog invented the electric toothbrush for people who had limited mobility and were wearing braces and he noticed that people were struggling to brush their teeth so he invented the electric toothbrush.
Today, the electric toothbrush is used by millions of people around the world. The lesson isn't about toothbrushes, it's about innovation.
People often assume that designing to be accessible and for disabled people only benefits that group of people. But the electric toothbrush story shows that these innovations can impact the whole world.

Company culture isn't what you say. It's what your systems allow.
It's shaped by what people experience.
Accessibility often exposes the friction hiding in our organisations:

• policies people don't use
• processes people work around
• presentations people can't follow
• systems people tolerate rather than benefit from

Those aren't just accessibility issues, they're organisational issues.
And they're often the things standing between good intentions and meaningful change.

We'll be discussing exactly this at The Rise of Inclusive Companies in Reigate on 30 September

"I'm fluent in English. I'm not fluent in unclear English."
Caitlin Quinn, our Chief Marketing Officer heard a client say that and its stuck with her ever since!

Clear language isn't just nice to use. It's a huge part of accessible design, and it's the difference between bringing people along for the journey or leaving them behind.

Plain, direct language is an accessibility tool not enough companies make use of.
At Good Access we help businesses reach accessibility benchmarks by doing audits across their user facing content, from websites to presentations, so that nothing gets lost in translation.

She is wearing glasses. In the lower third of the screen there is a black box with white writing that says: "POV: If someone uses overcomplicated, unclear English - this is what you can say"

Caitlin uses her hands to gesture while she is talking. She says;

"You might say I'm fluent in English, but I'm not fluent in unclear English. That's something that a client said to us, and it's something that has really, really stuck with me". These captions appear at the bottom of the video.

At the end of the video, the screen changes to a coral pink background with the Good Access logo in blue, orange and black on it. Underneath is written "Driving success through accessibility."
