What a fantastic day of football at our Johnstone & Linwood Girls Football Festival last week! 👏

It was brilliant to welcome approximately 100 P6/7 girls from 10 local primary schools for a fun-filled festival of football, teamwork and lots of smiles!

It’s great to see so many girls getting involved in football, building confidence, developing their skills and enjoying the opportunity to represent their schools.

A huge thank you Mairi for hosting the festival at the ON-X in Linwood, and to our two referees from St Benedict’s High School for their fantastic support throughout the day! Thanks also to all the school staff and parents for their continued support in making events like this possible.

Well done to all the girls who took part, a brilliant day of girls’ football! ⚽️

A huge well done to our Active Schools Coordinators Emma, Nicole, Amy and Mairi, who all took part in the Great Scottish Run last week in Glasgow 👏

Emma, Nicole and Amy took on the Half Marathon, while Mairi completed the 10K! 🥇

It’s fantastic to see our team getting active, challenging themselves and leading by example, both in and out of work.

A fantastic achievement all round, and they should all be so proud of themselves! ❤️

The big question now is… who can they convince from the team to join them next time? 👀

Yesterday, we hosted our very own Renfrewshire Young Ambassador Conference at Paisley Town Hall!

It was fantastic to welcome Young Ambassadors from 11 Renfrewshire high schools for a morning of team building, discussions and sharing ideas. 👏 There were lots of great conversations, opportunities to network with other schools and exciting plans being put in place for the year ahead.

We’re looking forward to seeing our Young Ambassadors put their ideas into action and make a positive impact on sport and physical activity within their schools!

We also had a special birthday to celebrate, and of course we couldn’t let the occasion pass without some cake and a sing-song! 🎂

A huge thank you to Lewis for hosting the conference, and to our Active Schools team and PE departments for their continued support in making the day a success.

Well done to all our Young Ambassadors, here’s to a fantastic year ahead! 🙌

It’s been a busy and exciting first couple of weeks across our three RSSE centres as we welcome our new group of young people to the programme. It’s officially our busiest year yet, with over 80 young people taking part! 👏

So far, we’ve been getting to know each other, building friendships and taking part in a variety of introductory activities. We’ve also been delighted to welcome Scottish Sports Futures, who have delivered a fantastic accredited Conflict Resolution course across two of our centres, with one more session still to come! 👏

We’re now looking forward to getting stuck into the year ahead, meeting weekly, planning volunteering placements, developing new skills and creating opportunities for our young people to make a positive impact across Renfrewshire.

Here are a few highlights from our first couple of weeks!

Here’s to another fantastic year of RSSE, and help us wish all our young people the very best of luck on their journey! 💛

It’s Game On again as exciting opportunities
continue across OneRen ⭐️

OneRen, working in partnership with sportscotland, is continuing to provide free and low-cost opportunities for young people locally as part of the national 2026 Summer of Sport initiative.

Our Summer of Sport programme has delivered a broad, inclusive range of opportunities for children and young people across Renfrewshire. To date, we have delivered over 40 holiday camps and activity programmes, covering more than 20 sports and physical activities and generating 255 sessions and 5,598 attendances. 👏

The programme has supported all six Summer of Sport priorities, providing opportunities for young people, strengthening pathways into sustained participation, enhancing existing provision, delivering targeted interventions, developing the workforce and raising the profile of sport. Activity has been delivered across schools, communities, clubs and ASN settings, with a particular focus on reducing barriers for all across Renfrewshire.

With the programme continuing into the colder months and beyond, young people across Renfrewshire can find even more opportunities on their doorstep and there has never been a better time to get involved.
