It was evident from the first 2-3 minutes of the game last night how much love was at Graig park for Logan Luker. A full stand of supporters and most of the pervious youth players at Graig Park for their annual rugby game against Beddau for the
🖤❤🧡 "LOGAN LUKER MEMORIAL CUP" 🧡❤🖤
The boys literally did save their best performance until last, they emptied their tanks and put their hearts and souls on the line for their former captain Logan.
The boys are bitterly disappointed to have lead Beddau for all but the last two minutes of the game with the final score being
Penygraig 17 - 20 Beddau
It goes without saying that as a club we are incredibly proud of each and every player, this was grassroots rugby at its very best.
A massive thank you to Beddau for coming up to Graig Park and being part of this special occasion. Your support has been ongoing since loosing our captain.
Unfortunately too many young men are suffering in silence. It’s good to talk boys

🖤❤🧡 LOGAN LUKER MEMORIAL GAME 🧡❤🖤
THIS FRIDAY 28TH APRIL 2023 WE WELCOME BEDDAU RFC YOUTH BACK TO PENYGRAIG RFC.
Back in November 2021 we sadly lost our captain LOGAN LUKER. Logan was a keen sports man who's passion was rugby, he put his heart on the line each and every game. He may have been small but he was fearless and would run at anything in his way no matter how big or small they were. Logan was a good soul who's memory will forever live on through his family, friends and Penygraig rfc Junior & Youth .
Logan's last game of rugby was against Beddau rugby football club youth , that game logan took a bump, Beddau's coach went to Logan straight away, he asked logan if he was ok, to which Logan replied "yes, im all good. He then said asked Logan what team he was playing against, Logan looked up at Beddau's coach who had a bobble hat on with "Beddau" written on it. Logan giggled and said "Beddau of course". That's a memory that will stick with us all, the cheeky chappy, kind loveable soul that Logan was.
Come along this Friday and join us in remembering Logans life, as we welcome Beddau rfc back to graig Park for a Friday night game under the lights.

After a very tough but encouraging first half of the season done and the new Cardiff division 1 league starting today, the boys and coaches new this game was going to won by the team who wanted it the most
The boys trained hard this week, in preparation for our game.
The game started with 20 minutes of the boys digging deep and defending well with a few breaks out of their half showing what they were capable of , With the graig youth captain choosing to play up the slope against the wind in the first half the team knew they had to keep digging deep. On the 25 minute mark the Dinas powys outside half made an outside break that the defensive line misread and he was in under the posts for the first try , the conversion was missed in front of the posts, the Dinas backline broke through again minutes later and after good scramble defence the Dinas 10 sat back in the pocket and landed a good drop goal in tricky conditions.
This was to prove to be a catalyst for the home pack who were slowly starting to get on top at the breakdown .
Within minutes of the restart the graig pack were smashing their way 50m upfield with strong carries from openside Kian parlour and second row kallem Daniels making big yards before fellow second row Zak Davies made a few telling carries along with big tighthead Brandon chapman now starting to come into the game.
After a couple of good drives from forwards and the the two centres Ethan Thomas and captain iolo bloom, big no.8 Ieuan Jenkins crashed over outwide scoring the first try for graig, the conversion was missed but the score now, Penygraig 5-8 Dinas Powys .
Straight from the kick off the graig pack smashed their way back up field and to the opposition 22 with more good carries from Kian parlour and fellow backrower Joseph hemmings ,with quick ruck ball, speedy scrum half Charlie Davey broke blind and fed Brandon chapman who took three defenders over the line with him to score graigs second try and put them in the lead right on half time . Conversion missed again from out wide . Score now Penygraig 10- 8 Dinas Powys.
With the pitch now starting to cut up from the heavy running and hard tackles, the home team started to take it's toll on the travelling team with a number of their starting players now leaving the field.
With graig making two changes at half time with fresh legs the graig pack really started to make the hard yards look easy, with big Brandon chapman busting through and making 60m before being tackled 5m short of the line and then the ref ,who had a very good game letting it flow as much as he could , adjudged that graig scrum half Charlie had knocked the ball on with the try line at his mercy , the break was short lived for the away team and came at the cost of another player who was injured trying to stop the big graig tighthead . With Dinas now pinned in it looked like the graig pack would smash their way through for another try but a bit of ill discipline cost the team big metres and after a couple of quick rucks the ref adjudged that the dinas second row had crossed the line despite it looking about 18inches short , the conversion was missed and Dinas were back in the lead 13-10.
In games earlier in the season the graig team may have started to falter but that wasn't the case today they were determined to get the first win of the season and from the kick-off by now outside half Charlie Davey , Kian parlour recovered a fumble by the Dinas forward and after a couple of busrts by Joseph hemming and Zak Davies along with ho**er Callum woolford the ball was driven well into the Dinas 22 before a quick pick up and twist saw sub Caleb 'sid ' Lee cross for the try out wide with conversion again missed the score now stood at Penygraig 15-13 Dinas .
From the following kick off and nice run by fullback Sam parlour made big yards upfield then a couple of quick rucks and the ball being fed by now scrum half Cameron fisher getting faster and faster causing a lot of problems for the away team but a couple of handling errors cost them and it took another fine run by full back Sam parlour to set up a ruck 30 yards out and when quick ruck ball was won cam fisher fed big Brandon chapman who was running full out onto the ball looking like he was going to run over the opposition when he threw an massive left foot step to completely wrong foot the lucky defender and raced away and under the post to take the score to 20-13 to graig.
Now losing more players the opposition coach decided that was enough and the ref blew the final whistle 12 minutes early to a very welcoming first win of the season for this hard working team .
The boys rightfully celebrated their win despite the atrocious weather and hopefully the boys can step up again next week when they travel down to the big city to play Llanhishen again in the Cardiff league 1 .
As coaches we would like to thank all the boys who put in a massive shift in very difficult conditions on a very difficult field we are very proud of you and the team you are becoming .
Man of the match today was very tough as everyone had fine games but with his big carries and big tackles man of the match went to the graig tighthead Brandon Chapman well done buddy .
Tries today
Ieuan Jenkins
Brandon Chapman x2
Caleb Lee

Just over a year after the passing our of captain Logan Luker, we've had devastating news that someone had taken it upon themselves to vandalise the place where Logans family and friends pay their respect. Not only pulling out and removing Logans Cross, but stealing a pair of rugby boots and a Penygraig rfc bobble hat, not to mention smashing a photo of logan that was sat upon his Cross .
There are simply no words that could describe how cruel this is. A young man taken to soon , a village that has been left heartbroken, a rugby team trying to hold it together, battling on and supporting one other and a family torn apart.
This was a place we could all go to pay our respects to Logan...all destroyed... for what???
Please please return these missing items and show some respect for Logan and his grieving family, friends and loved ones 🙏
