October 1896, Edward Mansel Jenkins was transferred to Huddersfield Rugby League Club. He had been a coal miner and was probably offered a house and a job rather than wages in order to move.
I have always been very proud of my Welsh great grandfather and have followed Wales ahead of my native England, making the journey to the Principality Stadium once a year.
I look forward to coming to watch Penygraig when we are back to normal.
Just thought I’d share this sad news about Johnny Marine passing. Johnny played for Penygraig in the 1970’s. His grandson Josh Brabon said if anyone has any photos of him during that time please let him know.
RIP Johnny.

I believe my great uncle was many years ago a chairman of the penygraig social club. Does the name Will Jones ring a bell? He lived in Llwynypia.
Great turn out for our 1st session this evening, and s great session too.

[05/03/21]   Due to the adverse weather conditions the club is not open today.

Sorry for any inconvenience to everyone.

Thank you for everyone’s custom since we opened back up last week, it’s been great seeing everyone 👏🏻

[04/29/21]   As we opened on Monday for the first time in nearly 5 months we have had various visits from the local council, police etc checking we are sticking to the current guidelines.

Monday was a busy day, although we were at capacity, there were too many people standing so going forward we must make sure rules are adhered to, non compliance with the rules will result in your removal from the club and continued non compliance will result in removal of your membership.

Please stick to the rules to keep everyone as safe as possible......

• Strictly members only.

• Membership card must be shown, no card = no entry

• No mask = no entry/masks can be bought.
Table service only.

• Stay at your table unless you are using the toilet, going to the designated smoking area/tables, wear your mask if doing so.

Diolch ❤🖤💛

Some games to look forward to this New Year 👍🏻

[12/23/20]   Penygraig RFC would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and look forward to a happier New Year.

A Christmas Message:

2020 has been a year to forget for so many reasons. We as a Club and Community have all lost family and friends for a variety of reasons, including the terrible pandemic, and our thoughts and sympathy go out to all those who have experienced a troubled year.

During these difficult and unprecedented times our Club and Community has shown remarkable spirit and resilience by banding together to support and care for each other. Whenever possible I would ask you all to continue doing so.

Social media is a fine thing, but I’m old fashioned and believe that a text, phone call or better still a ZOOM call goes a long way to make someone feel better at this time of year.

We would also like to show our appreciation for all the NHS staff and cannot thank them enough for what they have done during the COVID crisis. We at the club have tried to help in our own small way, our senior team raised money for another charity close to the squads hearts, Multiple Sclerosis.

The club has been proactive over the past few months carrying out renovations in the club and creating a new training area over the field in anticipation of times returning to normal with rugby once again flourishing at The Graig.

We would like to thank all the sponsors and members who have given their support, time and effort and look forward to raising a glass with you on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon in the not so distant future.

It may not be the Christmas we wanted this year but we would like to wish you a Merry Christmas with the hope and expectation that 2021 will be a better year for everyone.

This weeks lottery carried out and no winners

Thank you to all who buy tickets to take part.

We will let you all know when the next lottery will be drawn 👍🏻

[12/05/20]   Penygraig RFC weekly lottery:

Due to local restrictions around the Rhondda regarding opening of pubs and clubs, we have taken the stance that we will suspend our Club Lottery until normal (or close to normal) operating conditions can resume.

We have many regular players and supporters of the lottery and we want to allow everyone thier chance to get their tickets for a fair draw.

All tickets purchased this week will count towards the first draw we carry out when we open again.

Everyone at the club wishes you the best of health and hope you are safe and well during this new restrictive time.

[12/02/20]   This weekends lineup....

29/11/2020

Some great photos of when Japan came to Penygraig

Proper heritage in the Valleys 👏🏻

22/11/2020

This weeks draw took place today with a couple of £10 winners.

No jackpot won so it’s a rollover for next week.

£1,600 jackpot next week, so get your tickets in early 👌🏻

19/11/2020

Hopefully this Welsh setup puts its differences aside and start playing as a unit

15/11/2020

This weeks numbers have been drawn...

No big winners today so the Jackpot is looking good for a nice Christmas cash injection for someone.

Tickets are available from players, staff, and at the club. There are a couple of committee members who have extra tickets on them and they leave them in pubs near the club.

Fingers crossed someone has a lucky win for Christmas 👌🏻
