​Tonight's Focus: Communication

​⚡ Sharp Start: We kicked off with our familiar fast-paced warm-up to keep sharpening those tight turns and crisp passes.

​🗣️ No Bibs, No Hiding: We quickly transitioned into a small-sided game with a brilliant twist—absolutely no bibs! With everyone wearing the exact same training kit, the boys were forced to get their heads up, scan the pitch, and actively talk to each other to find their passes.

​📈 The Verdict: Some of the football on display was top-class! We saw clear signs of the boys communicating better, and we will definitely continue working on this to get those voices even louder on the pitch.

​🏆 Player of the Month!
As it's the 1st of September, this month officially signals the start of our Player of the Month award! This will be awarded to the player who shows absolute consistency over the entire month. We are not just looking at how they play on match days, but how they train, how they interact, and the respect they show to their teammates and coaches. The slate is clean, boys—time to step up!

​The Road to the Season Opener
With our first official league game fast approaching, we know we are in for a very tough test against Denbigh Town Reds. We have plenty of hard work to put in between now and kickoff:

⚫🟠 SUNDAY MATCH REPORT: VS CPD HENLLAN ⚫🟠

What a brilliant morning of football down at the Corros for our final pre-season fixture against CPD Henllan! ⚽🔥

On the Grass:

🚀 1st Quarter: A lightning-fast start! The boys moved the ball beautifully and found the back of the net with some clinical attacking play to take early control.

🎯 2nd Quarter: The momentum kept rolling. We saw some fantastic link-up play and a coolly converted penalty to extend our advantage.

🛡️ 3rd Quarter: A much tighter, goalless period. Both sides dug in, and our boys had to show their defensive resilience against a physical Henllan side.

🔥 4th Quarter: A superb finish to the game! The lads found a second wind, stringing together some brilliant passing combinations to finish the morning strongly.

🧠 Coaches' Verdict:
Before kickoff, we asked the boys to look for their passes, use their voices, and match the physicality of the game. They rarely disappointed! The passing was brilliant at times, and they stepped up to the physical challenge perfectly. Defensively, we were rock solid. With Tommy playing every single quarter, legs naturally started to tire, but seeing our attacking players tracking back to defend as a cohesive unit was fantastic to watch. Communication improved slightly, but it’s still an area we will keep driving over the coming weeks! 🗣️📈

⭐ PLAYER OF THE MATCH:
A massive congratulations to Jacob for taking home POTM! The coaches were incredibly impressed with his maturity today—keeping his head after a near-scuffle and then showing total class by helping a Henllan player up off the floor moments later. That is exactly the attitude we want to see. Well done, mate! 👏🏆

🟠⚫ TUESDAY TRAINING REPORT: SHARP PASSING & STRONG DEFENDING ⚫🟠

​Another really good session on the grass tonight as the boys continued with our heavy theme of passing and moving! ⚽🔥

​Tonight's Drills:
​⚡ The Warm-Up: We kicked things off with a fast-paced warm-up, seamlessly integrating sharp turns and crisp passing to get the tempo right up.

​💪 Protecting the Ball: We then moved into a much more physical drill, encouraging the boys to use their upper shoulders to lean into opponents and properly shield the ball. We absolutely loved this one, so you might just see a bit more of it in future sessions!

​🛡️ Breaking the Line: Next up, we segwayed back to our passing theme, challenging the attackers to pass through a set defensive line. There was some really good passing on show, but honestly, some of the defending we saw was even more impressive!

​🎮 Underload/Overload Game: We finished off with the same small-sided game as last week. One team had the advantage of Jamie between the sticks but played with one less outfield player, going up against an overload of 4 outfield players.

​Coaches' Verdict:
Some of the passing on display tonight was brilliant to watch, but the biggest highlight for us was the communication. Every single week, we are seeing and hearing those little improvements from the boys out on the pitch, and that is exactly what it’s all about! 🗣️📈

Another brilliant morning of pre-season football down at the Corros as we welcomed Brymbo FC U9s for a fantastic friendly fixture! ⚽🔥

On the Grass:

1st Quarter: The boys started brightly, immediately looking to implement our training ground drills and getting an early foothold in the game with some great attacking moves.

2nd Quarter: An absolutely dominant display! The passing game really started to click into gear, resulting in a flurry of fantastic team goals and brilliant link-up play.

3rd Quarter: The lads kept the momentum rolling, continuing to push forward and creating even more chances with some unselfish play.

4th Quarter: A competitive final period where Brymbo pushed back hard and grabbed a well-deserved goal, but our boys responded brilliantly to finish the game strongly.

⭐ PLAYER OF THE MATCH:
A massive congratulations to Tommy, who was awarded Player of the Match today, chosen specifically by the opposition coaches! A fantastic, hardworking performance—well done, Tommy! 👏🏆

Coaches' Takeaways:
Overall, a really good performance today. It was brilliant to see the improvements in our passing game shining through on the pitch. Communication is definitely getting better, but there is still plenty of room for improvement, and we will continue to work on that over the coming weeks! 📈🗣️

​Another fantastic shift from the boys on the grass tonight as we built on our solid performance from the weekend! ⚡⚽

​Tonight's Session:
​🏃‍♂️ The Warm-Up: We kept the passing theme rolling with a fast-paced warm-up incorporating plenty of running, dribbling, and sharp passing. The boys brought great energy and really seemed to enjoy it!

​🎯 Passing Drill: We moved straight into our regular passing drill. Some of the passes and the overall passing intent were brilliant to watch! While we still have big improvements to make with our communication, it was a very solid, focused drill from the lads.

​🛡️ Underload Match: We finished with a small-sided game specifically designed to put the teams under pressure by playing with one less outfield player. Both sides experienced being a player down, and the response was top-tier! The boys defended for each other and constantly encouraged their teammates throughout—that team spirit is what it's all about! 👏

​🏖️ Squad Update: We will be without Arthur this weekend as he heads off on his holidays. Have a great time, mate, and we'll see you in a couple of weeks!

​A fantastic morning of pre-season football on the road today as we visited Colwyn Bay Jaguars! ⚽🔥

​On the Grass:
​1st Quarter: A tight, defensive battle to kick off the morning with both sides feeling each other out and keeping things completely locked down.

​2nd Quarter: The game opened up nicely! Both teams traded great spells of attacking play and found the back of the net in an entertaining quarter.

​3rd Quarter: Our best spell of the match. The combination play clicked into gear, leading to some brilliant attacking passages and clinical finishes.

​4th Quarter: Colwyn Bay pushed hard in the final period, making for a thrilling, end-to-end finish right up to the final whistle.

​⭐ PLAYER OF THE MATCH:
A huge congratulations to Jake, who was awarded Player of the Match today! He put in an incredible shift from start to finish with fantastic work rate and great decision-making on the ball. Well deserved, Jake! 👏

​Coaches' Takeaways:
Plenty of positives to take away from this morning’s runout! The passing was slightly rushed at times, but whenever the boys got their heads up and picked out a pass, the football was brilliant to watch.

Communication remains our main area to keep developing as we build towards the new season. Also, a big mention to Jamie, who was outstanding between the sticks today with some unbelievable heroics to keep us solid under heavy pressure! 🧤

​Another brilliant Tuesday night on the grass with the lads! First off, it was fantastic to welcome Jacob back to the squad tonight after a couple of weeks away on holiday! ☀️👋

​Tonight's Session:
We continued with our ongoing theme of passing, following the ball, and finding space. The drills took a little time to get fully flowing, but the boys persevered, and the continuous improvement week in, week out is so pleasing to see as coaches. That progress is what it’s all about! 📈⚽

​🗣️ VOICES ON THE PITCH:
Some of the communication from the squad tonight was top-class! A special shoutout to Remy and Tommy, who were both exceptional tonight—constantly using their voices, leading by example, and encouraging their teammates throughout the entire session. Keep that energy up, boys! 👏

🟠⚫ TUESDAY TRAINING REPORT: HIGH FOCUS & SHARP PASSING ⚫🟠

​With a couple of the lads away on holiday this week, we were down to a squad of 7 for tonight's session. Rather than taking our foot off the gas, we used the smaller numbers to keep the session highly focused on the pass-and-move principles we've been drilling recently! ⚡⚽

​Tonight's Session:
​🏃‍♂️ Warm-Up & Pressure: We kicked off with a sprint warm-up focused on pressing the opposition, which blended seamlessly into a pressure-passing drill
designed to force quick decision-making under stress.

​🧠 Mastering the Drill: We then revisited the passing drill we've been working on over the past couple of weeks. Some of the passing on display tonight was nothing short of excellent! The boys are really starting to "get it," and it’s a pattern we’ll definitely keep building on once the full squad is back together.

​⚔️ Attack vs. Defense: We wrapped up with an Attack v Defense scenario, and it was so pleasing as coaches to watch the lads take what we worked on in the drills and put it directly into match-style practice. Top-class effort lads!

🟠⚫ TUESDAY TRAINING REPORT & NEW CAPTAIN ANNOUNCEMENT! ⚫🟠

​Another fantastic session with the boys on the grass tonight, focusing heavily on sharpness, space, and a very special team announcement! ⚽🔥

​Tonight's Session:
​⚡ Dribbling & Pressure: We kicked off with some unopposed running with the ball and sharp changes of direction, before introducing defenders to put the players under real pressure. There was some top-quality footwork on display!

​🧠 Passing Drill: Next, we moved into a transition drill with the main goal of transferring the ball smoothly from one end of the pitch to the other. It took the players (and the parents on the sidelines!) a little bit of time to grasp the concept, but once it clicked, the passing on show was absolutely fantastic!

​🎮 Small-Sided Game: We wrapped up with our usual small-sided game, and it was brilliant to see the lads immediately putting those passing and moving concepts into real-match scenarios.

​👑 INTRODUCING OUR NEW CAPTAIN! 👑
Before we wrapped up tonight, we had the very important job of handing over the captaincy following the departure of our OG captain, Kevin.

​The coaches unanimously selected Tommy as our new team captain! 👏

​Since joining us, Tommy has been fantastic. He’s always the first player to pick a teammate up when they’re down, and his ability to read the game is brilliant. We’re confident that taking on the armband will instill even more responsibility and maturity in him, which will massively benefit the entire squad heading into the new season. Well done, Tommy—fully deserved, mate!

​Note on Vice-Captaincy: Moving forward, we plan on selecting vice-captains on a week-by-week basis, based on performance and attitude in training leading up to matchdays. Ultimately, our long-term goal is for every boy on this team to lead like a captain on the pitch! 🦁
