⚽️ Rhymney Under-10's Match Report ⚽️

What a fantastic day of football for our Under-10 Girls! Three games, plenty of effort, some brilliant football and a great way for the girls to put everything they’ve been working on into practice. 💪⚽️

⚽ Game 1 – Newport Corinthians

We started the day against Newport Corinthians and the girls started off slow and Newport put away a couple of goals but our girls soon picked the pace up straight into the second half.

Kaja was fantastic in goal, with Lola and Amelia-Rose working hard in defence. Isabel, Isla and Daisy battled away in midfield, with Bonnie leading the line up front. Darcey and Frankie came on from the bench, with Darcey slotting into defence and Frankie joining midfield.👏👏

Despite a determined second half performance, we couldn't get the lead. Bonnie took a good few strikes which were saved by the keeper. Daisy nearly scored two top corners which just tipped over the crossbar but on her third attempt she wasn't missing and Daisy produced an absolute cracker into the bottom corner! 🚀⚽️🥅👏

⚽ Game 2 – Chepstow Town

Next up was Chepstow Town, and the girls put in a really strong performance.

Kaja once again did a great job in goal and kept a clean sheet, 🧤 with Darcey and Lola holding firm in defence.💪 Frankie, Daisy and Isabel worked tirelessly in midfield,🚀 while Isla led the attack⚡. Amelia-Rose and Bonnie came on, with Amelia-Rose helping out in defence and Bonnie into attack.💪⚡

The girls took full control of the game and passed the ball around the field, they created chance after chance and kept shooting, but unfortunately the ball just wouldn't find the back of the net! 😅🙈 Credit to their goalkeeper who made some fantastic saves.

⚽ Game 3 – Treowen Stars

The girls finished the day against a strong Treowen side — and what a way to finish!

Kaja was between the sticks and made some crucial saves.🧤 with Amelia-Rose and Darcey in defence. Daisy, Isla and Isabel worked hard in midfield, with Bonnie up front. Frankie and Lola came on and both made an impact in midfield.⚡🙌

The girls showed brilliant character and determination to come away with a win! 🏆⚽️

Bonnie grabbed two outstanding goals which she deserved with an assist from Daisy and another assist from Frankie and Bonnie slotted the goals in perfectly! ⚽🥅👏While Amelia-Rose also got an absolute storming goal after putting on a fantastic show and playing at her very best!🎯⚽🥅👏

A big well done to our Players of the Match, Isla and Frankie! 👏🌟

Isla put in a fantastic shift, battling hard throughout the games, winning the ball back and never giving up. 💪⚽️

And a huge congratulations to Frankie, making her first appearance for us! She put in a really solid shift, worked hard for the team and picked up a few assists along the way. What a debut! 👏🔥

A brilliant day's football from the girls. They showed great teamwork, determination and a fantastic attitude across all three games. There were excellent individual performances from each player, but most importantly, the girls continued to work for each other and enjoy their football.👏⚽

Strong and reliable in defence throughout the day. Finished it with a fantastic goal in the final match. A solid performance throughout as always.

Put in a hardworking performance across the three games. Always willing to get involved and work for the team. A brilliant performance.

A fantastic shift from Isla. Battled hard, won the ball back repeatedly and never stopped working. A very deserved Player of the Match.

Worked hard in midfield and showed great attacking intent. Scored a cracking goal and a wonderful assist. Brilliant football played throughout.

✨Bonnie 🎯
Worked hard up front and finished the day brilliantly with two cracking goals against Treowen Stars. A super attacking performance.

✨Darcey 🛡️
Put in yet again another strong defensive performance and worked hard throughout every match. A dependable team player and a solid defender.

✨Frankie 🌟
A brilliant first appearance for the team! Put in a solid shift, worked hard in midfield and picked up a few assists. A fantastic debut and well-deserved Player of the Match.

🖤⚽❤️ Rhymney Girls Under 10's 🖤⚽❤️

Team Morgan

Game 1 vs. Ponthir Vipers: A tough opener against a well-organized side. Though the girls struggled to find their rhythm early on, their heads stayed high and their positive attitude set the tone for the rest of the day.

Game 2 vs. Abergavenny: The team bounced back brilliantly! Stepping up the intensity, they defended with real determination and put together fantastic attacking plays to score two cracking goals and claim control of the match.

Game 3 vs. Blackwood Blues: The best performance was saved for last. The girls covered every blade of grass, held their positions, and worked seamlessly as a unit. A tactical switch—Harper moving into goal and Elsie pushing outfield—paid off massively, with Harper pulling off crucial saves to secure a well-earned victory.

Individual Highlights

Angelica & Kelsie: A defensive powerhouse. The pair worked brilliantly together, defending like titans in the final game to shut down attack after attack.

Livvi Mae, Harper, & Paisley: The engine room of the team. All three worked tirelessly in midfield, supporting each other, digging deep in the final minutes, and chipping in with crucial goals.

Elsie: Showed fantastic versatility by making brilliant saves in goal during the first two games, then moving upfront in the final match to score her very first goal for the team!

Amelia: Ran her legs off from start to finish between midfield and attack. Her relentless pressing paid off as she got her name on the scoresheet.

🏆 Player of the Match: Angelica

A huge congratulations to Angelica! She was outstanding all day, repeatedly clearing the ball under pressure and stopping dangerous attacks in their tracks. A massive performance showing huge improvement—well done!

⚽️ FOOTBALL SUNDAYS ⚽️

Today our Under 11s made the early start down to Newport for a 9am kick-off. 🌅⚽️

🏆 Game 1 — GVD

It might have been an early start, but the girls started fast! 🔥

Dolcie was testing their keeper early doors with two great shots. The football was flowing, with Pollyanna flying down the wing and getting the ball into the box, while Skye was testing the keeper again. 👏⚽️

Rayah and Rose were solid at the back, and then came a fantastic pass from Rose to Dolcie. She picked the ball up on the halfway line, skipped past two players and smashed the ball into the bottom corner with a wonder strike! 🚀⚽️ What a goal!

In the second half, the girls’ confidence kept growing. Thea was making some great runs with the ball, but against the run of play, GVD grabbed a goal back.

The girls’ heads didn’t drop, though, and they were straight back on the front foot, passing the ball around — which was a pleasure to watch. 👌

Some lovely one-two football between Primrose and Dolcie ended with Primrose playing Skye through, who once again produced an absolute rocket of a strike, smashing the ball into the top corner! 🚀🎯

🏆 Game 2 — Cwmbran Celtic

The girls took on Cwmbran Celtic, and what a game this was! 👏⚽️

The passing in this game was absolutely amazing. The girls were playing one-two football and creating so many chances. Primrose and Dolcie were linking up brilliantly again and testing the keeper early doors. 🔥

We came so close with a great solo run from Thea, who just missed the target. So close to her first goal! 🙌

Rosie M was strong in goal, sweeping up any through balls and doing a great job at the back. 🧤💪

The girls threw everything they could at the game. Freya had a shot at goal, while Dolcie smashed the post — but that ball just wouldn’t cross the line! 😩⚽️

Rosie D was causing problems on the wing and creating chances for Pollyanna, who ran her socks off all game. 💨👏

It wasn’t to be in front of goal, but what a great game from the girls! ❤️⚽️

🏆 Game 3 — Newport Saints

For the last game of the day, we took on the hosts, Newport Saints.

It wasn’t the girls’ best game, but by this stage they were absolutely shattered after a long day of football. 🥵⚽️

Newport started strongly and grabbed an early goal. The girls were still passing the ball around well, with Pollyanna putting in a hell of a shift on the wing. 💪

We had some chances, with Dolcie — who had been outstanding all day — running at the defence and putting some great balls into Freya.

Thea and Rose were kept busy at the back with Newport attacking, while Rosie M pulled off some great saves. 🧤👏

Just before half-time, Newport added a second.

But the girls’ heads didn’t drop! ❤️

A great through ball from Rosie D saw Dolcie get us back into the game. 🔥⚽️

The girls ran their socks off, with Primrose and Skye linking up well, but unfortunately we couldn’t find our way back into the game.

Newport attacked themselves and played some great football, but Rayah and Rose were making some fantastic tackles in the second half. 👏💪

Our Player of the Day goes to our captain, Dolcie! 🏆👏

What a performance from Dolcie today — goals, assists and an all-round captain’s performance. 💪⚽️

She was winning the ball back whenever we lost it, creating chances and leading from the front.

Her goal in the first game was one of the best we’ve seen at this level. Truly amazing! 🚀🎯

It was probably the best football I’ve seen since coaching the girls. Everything they learn in training, they are taking onto the pitch, and the football they play is an absolute pleasure to watch. ⚽️😍

🚀 MATCH REPORT | RHYMNEY ROCKETS U13s v WATTSVILLE SKY U13s 🚀

❤️🖤 HOME GAME — ANOTHER FANTASTIC ROCKETS PERFORMANCE! 🖤❤️

Following a midweek trip to Newport, the Rockets were back at home this week to welcome a Wattsville Sky side who have started the season well.

The message before kick-off was simple:

🔥 FIRST TO EVERY BALL
⚽ TAKE OUR CHANCES
🚀 ENJOY THE PASSING FOOTBALL

Captain for the day was Heidi, and the girls started exactly as they meant to go on.

From the first whistle, the Rockets were strong in the tackle and first to the ball. The midfield and defence set the tone, with Poppy, Lacey, Erin and Evie Stephens putting in a fantastic shift at the back and making sure Wattsville had very little time to settle.

It was from this pressure that Esmai closed down brilliantly, winning the ball before finding Frankie, who unleashed a rocket into the top corner to give the Rockets the lead inside six minutes! 🚀⚽

Just two minutes later, Esmai was involved again, providing another fantastic assist for Frankie to find the net and make it 2–0. ⚽⚽

Wattsville battled hard and the game was well contested for the next 15 minutes, but the Rockets’ defence continued to stand firm, winning challenges, closing down space and protecting the goal, allowing the midfield and attack to play with confidence. ❤️🖤

Then Heidi took matters into her own hands, driving through midfield and beating the defence to score her first of the day. 🔥⚽

Shaylah came onto the pitch with one instruction — press the defence!

And press she did! Within three minutes she was causing problems and got her first goal of the day. Less than 60 seconds later, she had her second! ⚽⚽🔥

At the other end, the defensive unit continued to deal with everything Wattsville threw at them. Evie Stephens in particular was doing an excellent job keeping the Wattsville striker quiet, while Lacey and Erin continued to show great composure and strength.

Netty was lively throughout, constantly looking for one-twos and taking on defenders. After threatening several times, she finally got the goal her performance deserved following a brilliant slide pass from Shaylah. ⚽👏

Then Netty turned provider, setting up Shaylah for her second of the game. The Rockets finished the half firmly in control. 🚀

🔥 SECOND HALF

The message at half-time was simple — keep going, keep playing the football and take our chances.

And captain Heidi led by example once again, finding the net with a fantastic finish following a great assist from Shaylah. ⚽

Shaylah was causing all sorts of problems and completed her hat-trick with a brilliant solo effort, finishing with her left foot. 🎩⚽🔥

The Rockets were rampant, but credit to Wattsville — they kept their heads up, continued to work hard and tried to play football throughout. 👏

Behind the attacking football, the Rockets’ defence remained outstanding and continued to defend as a unit, winning the ball and starting attacks from the back. It was a brilliant all-round defensive performance. 👏🛡️

With the mercy rule in place, the Rockets continued to press.

Erin picked the ball up in defence, beat a player into midfield and played a superb through ball to Frankie, who made no mistake to complete her hat-trick! 🎩⚽

Then came another moment of quality. Hope picked up the ball and played an outstanding through ball, splitting the defence and sending Frankie racing clear. Frankie calmly found the top corner to grab her fourth goal of the game! 🚀⚽

The Rockets weren’t finished there.

Esmai, already with three assists, produced another great piece of play to find Sienna, who made no mistake, curling the ball around the defender and into the bottom-right corner. ⚽🔥

The girls showed everything the coaches asked for — tackling, pressing, passing, movement, creating chances and, most importantly, working together as a team. ❤️🖤

⭐ OPPOSITION PLAYER OF THE DAY — EVIE STEPHENS

Evie was outstanding, keeping the Wattsville striker quiet and continuing to show how much she is developing and progressing. A really deserved award. 👏

A really difficult decision this week, with both girls building on their midweek performances while also working towards specific objectives set by the coaches.

Both delivered brilliantly. 👏🚀

🔴⚫️⚽️ Rhymney U12s vs Monmouth ⚽️⚫️🔴

A good away performance from the girls yesterday as we came away from Monmouth with a 2-2 draw after a game full of chances and plenty of hard work from everyone.

🧤 Starting Lineup
Megan in goal, Ayla, Mali & Elle in defence, Maddie & Marnie in midfield, Mariah & Olivia on the wings, with Scarlett up front.

With no substitutes available today, every girl played the full game, putting in a fantastic shift from start to finish. ❤️🖤

We started well and took an early lead when a great long throw from Maddie found Scarlett, who produced a lovely lob over the goalkeeper to make it 0-1. ⚽️

We created plenty of opportunities to extend the lead, but the Monmouth goalkeeper was having an excellent game, making save after save to keep her team in it. Maddie came particularly close on two occasions.

Mariah and Elle took turns in goal during the first half as we continued to push forward, with Monmouth eventually finding an equaliser before half time.

Half time: 1-1

The second half continued in much the same way, with the girls creating chances and looking for a winner. Olivia started in goal, with her and Maddie switching places throughout the half.

Megan and Marnie both went close, along with some good long-range efforts from the rest of the team. We kept getting ourselves into good positions, but the Monmouth keeper continued to be the blocker, making several more important saves and keeping the score level for long periods. Without her performance, we could easily have added more to our tally.

Mariah also showed some great dribbling skills, taking players on and creating opportunities going forward, while Marnie had a spell up front and worked hard to cause problems for the Monmouth defence.

Monmouth edged ahead late in the game, but the girls kept going and eventually got the equaliser they deserved.

⚽️ 2-2!

Some excellent footwork from Marnie created the opening, finding Scarlett at the back post, who finished neatly to bring us level. 👏

Both were excellent defensively, putting in really solid performances and doing a great job protecting the goal throughout the game. 🛡️

A good all-round performance from the girls, with plenty of chances created, some great individual play and a lot of hard work from everyone across the full game.

Rhymney U16’s Girls 🔴⚪️🔴⚪️

Last night we travelled down to Ponthir to play Ponthir Puma’s in our second league match of the season. We always get a tough match from the Puma’s and this time we didn’t expect any different!! 🔴⚪️🔴⚪️

The match kicked off….. it was cagey in the early stages with both teams proving hard to break down. If anything Ponthir started the better keeping our defence busy. Lilly H has looked backed to her best this season and she continued that form today with some excellent tackling and intense pressing from our defensive line…… AWESOME WORK LILLY H KEEP IT GOING 💪💪💪
Other stand out performers in the first half were Mazie L who also defended extremely well, clearing everything that came at her with confidence and Lily E who made her defensive work look easy as she always does 👌👌👌
We didn’t manage to create a lot in the first half but anything positive was coming from Breah J who is another player that has started the season really well…… our best chance fell for our superstar Gracie J who was back playing for us….. Gracie struck the ball well only for it to go just over the crossbar!!

HALF TIME SCORE!!
PONTHIR PUMA’S 1 - 0 RHYMNEY

The second half got started……. And it was not the start we’d hoped for with Ponthir scoring a goal within minutes of the restart 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ 2-0 down looked a mountain to climb.
Our girls never gave up we kept fighting, Layla O was covering crazy ground in midfield putting in a real shift and getting on the ball to drive us up the pitch 🔥🔥🔥
Gracie J was starting to get into the spaces creating chances and getting shots off and it seemed it was only a matter of time before we got our first goal…… Emelia P picked the ball up on the half way line and played a nice one two with Alivia D….. Alivia played the ball in behind for Emelia to run onto….. Emelia drove to the edge of the 18 yard box and got a great shot off….. the keeper made a great save only to palm the ball into the feet of Layla O who finished in excellent fashion to get us on the scoresheet!! GREAT FOOTBALL GIRLS WELL PLAYED 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🔥🔥🔥
We continued to play on the front foot taking more risks while pushing for an equaliser! Unfortunately Ponthir caught us on the break to go 3-1 ahead with only 8 minutes remaining on the clock!!
With time running out we still kept fighting and battling away….. nearly every attack was starting with Layla O who was playing an unbelievable match in midfield….. with 5 minutes remaining Layla and Breah J linked up on the right hand side of the 18 yard box to set Gracie J through on goal, this time Gracie blasted the ball into the top corner!! SUPER CLINICAL GRACIE & WELL PLAYED BREAH AND LAYLA 👏🏻👏🏻👌👌🔥🔥🔥
This goal gave the team a massive lift and for the remaining minutes we ramped up our work rate and intensity putting the Ponthir defence under a lot of pressure…… With only a minute remaining Layla O played a ball into Gracie J who had her back to goal with a defender tight behind her…. Gracie span and turned with an excellent turn of foot and slotted the ball into the Corner with another excellent finish!! ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING GIRLS, EVERYONE OF YOU SHOULD BE PROUD FOR CONTINUING TO FIGHT UNTIL THE LAST SECOND 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💪💪💪💪💪

RHYMNEY COACHES PICK FOR POTM!!

LAYLA O - Layla was excellent last week but today she was another level. We all know Layla has high qualities on the ball but Layla’s work rate and effort for the team was truly unbelievable. She covered every blade of grass, helping to defend and making a difference in the final third with her clinical decision making. Layla scored our first goal and assisted Gracie’s 2 goals. It was a masterclass of box to box midfield play!! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING LAYLA… THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR EFFORTS, WELL DONE!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🔥🔥🔥

Apologies there were no photos taken this week, with the match not finishing until 8pm it was too dark and everyone was in a hurry to get home after a long day in school and work!!

🌙 WEDNESDAY NIGHT | ROCKETS ON THE ROAD ❤️🖤

With almost a full squad available, the coaches had plenty to think about following the Rockets’ opening-game victory. But one thing was certain — these girls were hungry for more! 🔥

And they certainly delivered, producing some fantastic football from start to finish. ⚽️🚀

🫡 CAPTAIN’S PERFORMANCE

Captain tonight was Netty Owen, who led from the front with a brilliant captain’s performance. 👏

A huge shout-out too to Frankie, who started the game in goal, and Hope, who finished the game between the sticks. Another fantastic example of the teamwork and selflessness within this squad. 🧤❤️🖤

🚀 FIRST HALF

The message was simple: enjoy the game, play our passing football and be first to every ball.

The travelling Rockets parents didn’t have to wait long to see that message put into action! 📣

⚽️ Shaylah opened the scoring after a fantastic assist from Netty.

Netty then got in on the action herself, producing one of her trademark runs towards goal before finishing brilliantly. ⚡️⚽️

Shaylah was causing all sorts of problems for the defence and her determination to win the ball back earned her a second goal and a well-deserved brace. 🔥

She then turned provider, delivering a fantastic cross across the box for Netty to finish into the roof of the net! 🚀⚽️

Both girls had early braces and were setting the tone for what was to come.

Heidi then entered the action and immediately made an impact, powering forward with a brilliant run before calmly slotting the ball to the right of the keeper. 👏⚽️

The Rockets had their tails up and the football was excellent — but it wasn’t just the attacking play that impressed.

At the back, the defence remained a compact, organised unit and defended brilliantly throughout. 💪🛡️

👏 Big shout-out to Lacey, Erin and Evie Stephens for keeping things tight at the back.

Heidi then turned provider herself, winning the ball high and producing an excellent assist for Shaylah, who finished to complete her hat-trick! 🎩⚽️

And she wasn’t finished there… Shaylah found the net again to take her tally to FOUR goals! 🔥🔥🔥🔥

The Rockets came back out with the same intensity and shortly after coming out of goal, Frankie got herself on the scoresheet, finishing from an excellent assist by Alyssa. ⚽️👏

That goal brought the game to the mercy ruling. 🚀

Frankie wasn’t done there adding her second goal of the evening before Heidi also got her second of the evening in a commanding and class display

A special mention to Netty and Shaylah, who then moved into the unfamiliar roles of right-back and left-back, joining Lacey in defence. 🛡️❤️🖤

That’s what this team is all about — doing whatever is needed for the team. 👏

🌟 ESMAI — WHAT A GAME!

Esmai continues to grow into her wing position week after week and tonight she was a constant threat.

She played some fantastic balls in behind the defence and was rewarded with an assist when she put Alyssa through to score her first of the game. ⚽️🚀

And Esmai wasn’t finished there!

Reading the space brilliantly, she slipped another excellent ball through for Frankie, who calmly slotted home her third of the game. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Some excellent wing play and two assists — fantastic stuff, Esmai! 👏🔥

In the closing stages, Sienna came agonisingly close, firing into the side netting. So unlucky! 😩⚽️

Then, with some excellent wing play, Netty got to the byline before the ball found its way to Alyssa, who finished brilliantly for her second goal of the day. ⚽️⚽️

Another fantastic performance on the road, with goals, assists, teamwork, defensive discipline and some excellent football throughout. ❤️🖤

And you know what that means… FOOTBALL!! ⚽🔥

Let's hope the caretaker had a nice weekend break and remembered to open the amenities this time! 😂

A great start from our motley crew! Passing galore, which made Coach Ant smile.
Nope… it wasn't wind before you asked! 🤣
Bridie scored a screamer, followed by a porches goal from Lydia! ⚽⚽
Ash and Lydia were getting in each other's way, sending Coach Ant into a meltdown:
"ONE OF YOU! SPLIT UP!" 🤯🤯
Lili appeared to be sleeping between the sticks 😴, but there was some great defending, with Amelia doing a great job protecting that leg. ✔️

We had a bye, so a little break for the girls.

Well… that break killed us! 😫
The girls weren't anything like they were in the first game.
Lydia got clattered by a double tackle, got back up and retaliated!
The New-Tredegar girl came out of her! 😤😂
A very pushy, scrappy game, and unfortunately a sloppy goal cost us. 😫

🆚 GVD Colts
Lovely passing from the girls. Has the training finally been sinking in? Coach Ant was wondering to himself! 🤔😂
Lili meant business in this one, she took her smock off and looked much more awake! 👀😂
Ashleigh grabbed a goal from one of Bridie's trademark long balls… or as we like to call them…

Here we go.. Thought Coach Ant…
The girls in navy kit came out attacking straight from the off.
We leaked an early goal, but that didn't dishearten us.
We played well in parts, with some lovely passing and good spells of football.
Amelia carried her injury through this game, showing great determination. 💪
Ashleigh broke through and struck the ball but it just clipped the side netting.
Tiredness eventually set in and we started to leak goals. With no subs available, it really took it out of the girls.

This young lady had an absolute STORMER today! 🌟
Bringing out all of her tricks, drag-backs, the odd steps overs, but it was her distribution, those 🫏🦵 donkey kicks and her ability to put players into space that were second to none.
Well done Bridie! 👏⚽

🎙️ BACK TO THE STUDIO

We played well in parts today, with some lovely passing and, importantly, making the ball do the work.
The girls are getting more confident with every game, and you can see the training starting to sink in.

As for Coach Ant…
He needs to calm his t**s. 🤣🤣
