Advanced Motorcycle Mentoring on the continent, Wales and the South West on our unique tours. It has now grown to much much more.

It began in 2008 when 6 friends went to France for a few days on their bikes. Some of the riding left a lot to be desired and needing sorting so Paul B who has been a Police Class 1 covert rider for nearly three decades, a ROSPA examiner and a former IAM chief observer offered a few words of advice. That evening someone suggested what a great idea it would be to be to have advanced motorcycle trai

How many of you have a Garmin 660 or BMW Navigator IV, V or VI and have lost your weatherproof cover?

They are obsolete in the Garmin lineup and with fleabayers asking frightening prices for them we now have our own available to buy.

There are two versions, with lanyard securing holes so you can keep it safe with your keys and without holes with its slightly cleaner lines. Both fit exactly the same as the original ones and at a fraction of the cost.

They are only £14 delivered, just drop us a PM for further details.

Last month we did a one to one intensive mentoring overnighter with a rider who is already well qualified in the civilian advanced world. The reason was he was due for a three year retest and wanted to refine his already impressive skills to get the best result possible.

We spent some time going over where he felt he might need to improve and as he progressed we introduced new facets for him to consider.

We predicted a very high score as he took on board everything we told him. Today, he had his IAMRoadsmart Masters retest and passed with a Distinction qualification which will allow him to continue to fulfil his various roles in the biking world.

Well done to him for all his efforts and he should be very round of his achievement.

We offer bespoke services from a few hours to mentored tours in the UK and Europe.

If you would like a one to one or even a two to one mentoring session with FTT Advanced just get in touch.

Another two days in Wales on a one to one mentoring tour in preparation for Greg’s IAMRoadSmart Master retest.

Surprisingly it didn’t rain and we had excellent weather to hone Greg’s already impressive riding skills.

The 1:1 enabled us to combine feedback, demonstration riding and development plans flexibly so the process flowed really well over the two days.

New roads and routes have been added to this bespoke tour so things were fresh and challenging even though Greg is a Wales regular.

We offer a maximum of 2:1 mentoring and can offer a variety of routes to suit all tastes and needs from Wales, the West Country, the Home Counties and Germany.

If you would like to know more about our services get in touch.

Do you own a BMW Navigator IV/V/VI or Zumo 660?

Are you one of those many riders who have lost the weather cover for your cradle?

If so, you're in luck as we have a supply of these custom made ones complete with lanyard loop so you can clip it onto to something so it doesn't go missing again.

These fit securely into the existing mounts and will protect the connectors from the worst of the weather.

Had a discussion with a co mentor yesterday about some advanced bike training companies and the credentials of those delivering said advice.

It appears that a number of companies are now struggling to get suitably qualified and experienced riders and are using terms such as “emergency service trained” or “cascading emergency service principles”.

Who you use for your advanced riding provisions is down to you but take some time to drill down into what real qualifications and experience the person who is delivering that training has and is it what you want learn from and are you will to pay for that level of experience.

Ask yourself what do those terms really mean, does it mean they’ve done a Bikesafe day and hence can say they have had some emergency service training?

As for cascading emergency service principles in reality meant they were using Roadcraft as the basis for their training and charging a hefty fee for it.

There are lots of providers to suit all styles, wants and needs of advanced riding experiences. Before handing over your hard earned cash check you will be getting what you want from those with suitable skills and experience.

Just two more days until our next tour. FTT South West takes us south down through Dorset and then over to Devon on day one.

Day two takes us up to the north coast of Cornwall before returning to Devon for the second nights stay.

Day three returns us back up through Dorset, Hampshire and Surrey.

Over 600 miles on all sorts of roads to test and hone those advanced riding skills.

We’ll try to remember to post some pictures of the sunshine and countryside along with the bikes.

Another successful tour with four riders given some expert mentoring over two days. These tours are designed to hone skills with challenging roads of all types covering a variety of roads.

On this tour we had riders who hold various civilian advanced riding qualifications and wanted to receive honest, constructive feedback.

Yet again FTT Advanced delivered as requested across the board. From routes, stops, hotel, quality of mentoring to that all
Important banter keeping things little hearted and encouraging.

Well done to everyone who took part, it was hard work but everyone improved massively.

Day one of FTT Wales 2025 carried out in glorious sunshine. This is the first tour of the year where the riders get a chance to hone their skills on some fantastic roads.

Plenty of overtaking opportunities and loads of fast sweeping bends along with chocolate box type rolling hills with technical bends that are challenging but also great fun.

Plenty of stops to debrief and chat over where improvements could be made as well as compliments on things done well.

Great start to the tour and the year.

The tours to the continent are now bespoke requests, we have two which increase in intensity, the first to the Ardennes and then the ultimate to the Eiffel region.

If you would like to know more get in touch but hurry as places are going fast.

Been a busy few weeks for us with three tours to Wales and our first new tour to the South West.

We managed to come up with some great new roads to push the participants skill levels as well as keeping in some old favours of ours.

It’s great see new people joining the tours from both the IAM and RoSPA groups and of course we still have a really high returning customer base adding to the mix.

Great fun and we look forward to the rest of the year with more tours to run.

Here’s a few photos with tea and cake as usual
