A little education thought for the day.
WHAT ARE THE REFLEXES LEARNT BY OURSELVES THAT COMPROMISE THE WAY WE MOVE ?
The green light reflex, the sense of fight-or-flight that calls the body to action πͺππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈ
The red light reflex, or startle reflex, which occurs in response to anxiety, apprehension, fear, or any perceived threat π¨βπ»π©π»βπ»ππ·ββοΈ
The trauma reflex, which puts you into avoidance mode π€π¦Ώπ¦΅π
When you live in a perpetual state of fight or flight, the tension builds up (unlike with animals) and chips away at your whole system. It also undermines your ability to listen, move, express yourself, and even plan for the future.
Each of these reflexes is related to certain stressors ππ’ππ€¬π€π«¨ and past or present traumas and can show up everywhere β from your feet, to your pelvis, and up to the ribcage, shoulders, head, and even eyes!
The good news is, through the power of somatic movement and pandiculation, you can strategically address each of the three stress reflexes and interrupt your habitual trauma responses βresetting your nervous system β and finally experience the relief youβve been seeking.

Yourself
Is your hip hurting? It might not be because of the thing you think it is...
When hip joints are tight, itβs because there is muscle tension in the system.
It could be because the muscles that attach to the joints are tight, but it could equally be tight muscles somewhere else that manifest as pain in the hip joint.
These muscles need to be retrained, slowly and intelligently (not forcefully, as if working out at the gym) so they move more efficiently and effortlessly.
This is why a Somatic Movement practice incorporates many different movements (not just ones directly targeting the hip) so we can release tension in the whole body.
When the muscles of the waist, back, and abdominals are once again under the brainβs conscious control and can contract, lengthen, and relax voluntarily, then a routine of functional strengthening can be very beneficial.
When we do Somatic Movements, instead of stretching the muscles you will reset their length and relax their tonus by pandiculating β contracting the muscle first, then slowly lengthening it to a full relaxation (as if you were imitating a cat or dog getting up from rest).
Pandiculation is the key to resetting muscle length and restoring sensory awareness and motor control without forceful or painful stretching.

I received this wonderful testimonial and summary of understanding from one of my clients visiting me for problems he was enduring from pain in his aching body after having tried other multiple therapies.
I canβt understand why most people keep going to chiropractors for years and allow themselves to keep getting worse.

Itβs never too late to start β¦β¦take control and live your life to the full the best way you can.
Did you ever wonder why animals pandiculate up to 40 times a day in the wild? Tigers, lions, big apes, and horses β all powerfully strong creatures β pandiculate reflexively in order to be fully in control of their muscular system; their lives depend on it.
Somatic Movement is probably the best and smartest practice you could ever do before engaging in strength training.
Somatic Movement and pandiculation prepare you to move well in any and all activities by reducing excess tension in your sensory motor system so that you can train your muscles in the most efficient manner.
In essence, Somatic Movements improve the ability to sense the muscles you are strengthening.
If you want to maintain as well as improve your strength consider incorporating a short Somatic Movement routine before you train and follow your training with a short practice to reset and deactivate the muscles you just worked out.
Train smarter, not harder.
