We are a friendly, family orientated club with the local community at the heart of our club based in Roade, Northamptonshire. Founded by head coach Robert Solesbury who grew up in the village of Roade. Affiliated to the BJC (British Judo Council) through the North London Area and British Judo through the Midlands area. Club Rules
We strive at Makoto Judo Kwai and within the Judo community to bring a warm and friendly atmosphere. Please remember to be kind and respectful to others. No jewellery, watches or shoes to be worn on the mat, this is for the safety of yourself and others. Finger and toe nails should be short and hands feet should be clean. White Judo suits are preferable, however blue and other colours will be excepted for visiting members. Meet The Team

☀️ School Holiday Opening Hours – South Northants Judo Club ☀️

As we head into the summer holidays, we’ll be taking a short break to give everyone a chance to enjoy some well-earned time with family and friends.

📅 Club Opening Schedule:
✅ 22nd July – Open as normal
✅ 29th July – Open as normal
❌ 5th August – Closed
❌ 12th August – Closed
✅ 19th August – Open as normal
✅ 26th August – Open as normal
✅ 2nd September – Open as normal

We hope everyone has a fantastic summer, whether you’re travelling away, relaxing at home, or staying active. We look forward to welcoming everyone back onto the tatami after our two-week break.

🥋 Guests are welcome to train on any of our open sessions, provided you hold a valid British Judo or recognised governing body licence. It’s always great to welcome visitors to the club!

🥋 NO-GI JUDO IS HERE TO STAY! 🥋

Following the success of our previous sessions, we’re excited to announce that No-Gi Judo is now a regular monthly class at South Northants Judo Club!

📅 Every last Wednesday of the month
🕢 7:30pm – 9:00pm
📍 Lobb Gymnasium, EWS, Roade, NN7 2LP
💷 £10 per session
👥 Ages 14+

Whether you’re a judoka looking to develop your gripping alternatives, improve movement, transitions, takedowns and groundwork, or you’re simply after a new challenge, these sessions are for you.

No gi. No belts. Just great training in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Open to all with valid license with BJA, BJC or AJA. Come along and see what No-Gi Judo is all about!

Good luck to Dan at Samurai Judo Club! 🥋

Today Dan is attending the grading at Samurai Judo Club as he continues his journey towards achieving his 1st Dan (Black Belt). Every grading is an important opportunity to demonstrate technical ability, knowledge, commitment, and to earn valuable points towards that goal.

The road to 1st Dan is a long one, requiring dedication, consistency, and countless hours on the mat. From refining techniques and improving competition skills to supporting training partners and embracing the values of judo, every session contributes to the journey.

Representing South Northants Judo Club colours with pride, Dan will be looking to showcase the hard work and determination he has put in throughout his training. Everyone at the club is wishing him the very best as he takes this next step and works towards adding more points to his 1st Dan progression.
