Congratulations to those who have passed their grading today, L to R: cath & Dan passed 1st Dan's and between me & Andrea, Ewan passed 2nd Dan.
Andrea awarded her certificate from passing her 3rd Dan on the previous course. Well done to all of you. George Cheshire 7th Dan far Left and myself 8th Dan far right.

It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of Sensei Charles Gidley, our Chief Instructor since the inauguration of the British Shotokan Kyogi. A personal friend of mine, not only instructing me over 46 years, but guiding me through life’s obstacles. Those who knew Sensei Gidley and had the pleasure to have trained with him, will know that he was renowned for his ability to know just how the body mechanics worked, his knowledge of pressure points and his timing was phenomenal. For those who go back to the days at the start of the BSK and before, will know that his training was quite brutal at times, but anyone who truly wanted to learn martial arts, instinctively knew they could not find better. Sensei will be sadly missed by many and fondly remembered by many more.

Our next open course and Dan Grading will be held on Sunday 24th March at Oldham Leisure Centre 11am - 1pm.
