Hi all (be warned sentimental message from David)

As you may have been aware Dawn decided that after many years of running the dance school it's time she moved onto a new chapter in her life and her decision has been to close the dance school and sell the premises. As of 1st September the dance school is no more. (however classes will continue to be run by David under his own studio name)

So many memories have been made by myself and so many other people that have come through the doors over the years making the dance school a place to remember and such a special place to be. JD DANCE CLUB would not have been what it is without the amazing customers and dancers that have helped us over the years pushing us to keep going.

I started dancing as a young boy when Dawn lured my friends and myself off the street into the ballroom with the promise of girls to dance with (hahaha because that’s what I was interested in). She showed us all how to dance and got us hooked.....She then went on to create a boys mini chippendales which i am still in therapy for as are all the other lads i'm sure. If we ever tried doing the same these days I'm sure social services would be knocking on the door.

I took part in dance teams, competitions, dance shows, pantomimes, weekends away and I have a vivid memory of it all. I myself have way too many stories to share on a post like this and i know people that have even more stories that are just not suitable for facebook but at the centre of all these stories is Dancing and the dance family we have all created growing up in a place like JD Dance club. I wont mention the time Dawn and Neil took me to the gay village to a lets saynaughty shop to find a team outfit for competitions at the age of 13/14 (i most definately kept my eyes shut!)

People have made friends for life, they have met their life partner as well as dance partner and people have even argued and it's all been very entertaining to watch. We have seen generations from the same family come through the doors, dancers i taught when they were 10yrs old now bringing their own kids to classes (i should note they have got a little older before having kids not had a kid at 10yrs old)

So before i ramble on anymore i would like to say thank you to Dawn for supporting me over the years, thank you to all the dance partners i have had and the teachers i have worked with and thank you to all the dancers and parents and all the other staff that have made my time working and dancing at JD Dance Club amazing and finally thank you to John Jackson who opened the dance school with Dawn all them years ago.

Finally, my dancing days are not yet over. I want to continue making memories and help young children and teengers and anyone else i can create special memories and a dance family like I experienced. I am opening my own dance studio where classes will continue hopefully for many years to come but I can't do that on my own. I will need the help of all you amazing people that are still here with me. The new studio will be called KIRBY DANCE STUDIO and i hope to see you in one of my dance classes very soon.

Just a reminder there are no dance classes tomorrow SATURDAY 14th AUGUST!

David is at a wedding. All classes will be back to normal the following week.

Anyone that has missed a class feel free to come to an extra class in the week just send us a message and we can advise best class to come to.
