This is not by accident.

The messaging is designed to keep you searching, spending and starting over.

Before and after photos that make you question why that isn't you.

The algorithm serving you body transformation content because you once searched for a new workout.

The "get back on track" messaging after any holiday (look out for these after Easter).

It's not a coincidence. It's a business model.

I still get sucked in sometimes. I'll be scrolling and suddenly I'm questioning myself, my body, what I'm doing. And then I catch it. I think wait, who is this actually serving. Not me, not you.

And before anyone tries to justify "but it's for your health" how healthy is it to spend decades at war with your body? How healthy is the anxiety, the restriction, the starting over, the shame? How healthy is an industry that makes more money the worse you feel about yourself?

That's not healthy. That's profit dressed up as concern.

You were never the problem.

The industry that profits from your insecurity is

Movement that comes from care rather than shame isn't a radical idea.

It just actually works.

Intentional rest is an important part of strength training programming.

So why are we so reluctant to include it in real life too?

I've written about this properly over on my blog, the guilt, the conditioning, and what strength training taught me about rest. Link to my blog is in my bio

P.s I'm giving blog writing a go! 😜 Come and have a read. Maybe I'll start a newsletter next who knows! Ha

This is what training from a place of care can look like.

Quiet. Unhurried. In your own space.

Not because you have to.

Because it genuinely makes you feel better.

That shift from have to, to want to

That's where everything changes.

I spent years pushing through workouts I dreaded, following programmes that didn't fit my life, moving from a place of wanting to change how I looked.

And I was consistent

until I wasn't.

What actually made movement stick wasn't more discipline.

It was learning to notice what my body needed and responding to that instead.

That's what I want to help you find this month.

If movement feels hit and miss, it’s usually not about motivation.

It’s about conditions.

Things like:

time of day
how long you have
how intense it feels
where you’re doing it

what you expect of yourself

So with February's topic of noticing, noticing what needs to be in place for movement to feel easier.

When you understand the conditions that help, movement stops feeling unpredictable.

I believe that exercise, fitness, movement (whatever you want to call it) matters.

I don't believe in the noise that surrounds women when it comes to exercise. The urgency, the shame, the constant pressure to be smaller or do more.

Real change doesn't come from pushing harder.

It comes from self-compassion, calming the nervous system, and learning to listen to your body again.

That isn't "letting yourself go"
If anything, it's the opposite. It's learning to trust yourself instead of the noise.

This space is going to reflect that more clearly.
Gentle reminders that you are already enough and that the reason we move is to feel good, get stronger and live our lives fully. Not to fit in.

Movement belongs to YOU, not to diet culture or societal expectations.

It’s time to reclaim it as something joyful and personal.

Move in ways that make you feel strong, happy, and free

How do you like to move?

💪

Ever feel like you're juggling everything except time for yourself? From early wake ups to bedtime battles, finding a moment to exercise can feel impossible.

Remember, it's ok to not have it all figured out. Your well-being is just as important as everything else on your to-do list.

Be kind to yourself and know that tomorrow is another day.

No guilt, no pressure

I think every single client I've had has said their mum's won't go to the pool/beach with their grandchildren because it means getting in their swimsuit.

I get it, wearing a bikini or swimsuit or whatever you choose to wear on a beach can be a very vulnerable thing and society has told women that we shouldn't change, our bodies should remain as they did when we were 20.

How many women in their 80s and 90s look like they did in their 20s?

None it doesn't happen. (It's the same for men btw but not as much as a big deal apparently)

Our mum's lived through the depths of diet culture so it's expected that they feel this way. It's sad though isn't it.

We put off doing things because we are worried about what other people think of our bodies, about what we think of our bodies.

To be body neutral means to accept our body as it is today, even if it's not how we want it or thought it would be but just how it is. I accept my body how it is today.

It's a physical representation of the life I have lived and I am not going to beat myself or my body up about it. I'm going to run on the beach, I'm going to enjoy the sun on my body, the sea in my toes and remember I only have one life to live.

Please this summer, accept your body for how it is now and experience life.

Also Maya took this photo, better Instagram boyfriend than Dan so there you go!

It's easy to forget to nurture ourselves amidst the constant care we give others.

Let's remember that self-love and self care is not selfish but a vital part of our journey.

Embrace yourself with the same tenderness as you would others

Feel like you need some encouragement. Send me a message and I'll get back to you.
