In Loving Memory of Simon Christopher Shaw;
we gathered at the West Chapel-Thursday 13th August 2026...we shared memories of Simon, memories of family, memories of friends...we then attended Medway Rugby Club and celebrated Simon's life together...Liz Shaw & family welcomed everyone who attended, in person, remotely & otherwise...we sang too...you are all deeply thanked...Easy does it Simon Shaw...❤️🧡

Spirit Of Rugby Lodge No.9922 was proud to take on the mantle of sponsor of Medway Rugby Club at silver level last season, 2025/26.

Although the lodge is a new sponsor, virtually all of our members are current or ex-players or referees. Indeed, we have quite a number of members from Medway RFC, so whenever we attend events at the club, there are always many familiar faces as well as new friends to make.

Watching Medway play from their famous balcony at Priestfields is a real thrill, and we know the players appreciate what is a very vocal crowd.
As sponsors we are proud to say that Medway RFC win with joy & lose with grace, but whatever the score, we know that the true spirit of sportsmanship will be the ultimate winner. As well as which, we’re proud to know that our sponsorship helps Medway RFC grow the game of Rugby – because we, as freemasons, and members of the Spirit of Rugby Lodge in particular, share the same values.
And so far, the relationship has been reciprocated! Our lodge has grown as a direct result of our sponsorship at Medway, with many club members and visitors alike wanting to know more about what we do.

The Volunteers' Lunch was a particular highlight for us because it illustrated that Medway is a club that values and celebrates everyone, on and off the field, who help to make things happen week in and week out. We were delighted to take the opportunity as a lodge to show our appreciation too, as we hosted as our guests for the lunch the head coaches of all the mini and youth sections – some 16 amazing volunteers in total!

As silver sponsors we are very much looking forward to our first day out at Allianz/Twickenham with the club to see England play in an international match - tickets being part of the sponsorship agreement.
We are sure it is going to be a special day.
We have loved our first year as a sponsor at MRFC and are proud to continue our sponsorship into 2026/27 – Medway Rugby Club’s 95th season.

During season 2025/26 we enjoyed sponsors lunches & meeting up with friends Old and New. We watched Medway RFC play from the famous balcony at Priestfields whilst making much noise (players say they get a huge lift)!

The Christmas cracker was a fantastic day; lunching, singing, watching Rugby and in our case, using the opportunity to host our own business clients & family making the most of Medway RFC's amazing Hospitality.

We also loved the business lunch in March 2026 when we hosted a table of our friends & clients. We met the mayor, saw Ade' the Speaker and helped raise a tidy sum for Charity!

Across the past 40 years we at The Cannon Pub have been blessed to watch our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren play on Sunday mornings. From the under 18's to the swarm of under 6's at Medway they have a brilliant time, whilst learning respect & discipline.

We are very proud to see Medway boys, girls, Men & Women earn representative colours with Kent RFU;

Some have earned the right to wear the England Rose...

We saw the rugby World Cup final at Allianz in Twickenham and watching the England women, "red roses" win the 2025 Rugby World Cup whilst recording 82,000 spectators (the biggest Single spectator event for any women's sport to date) was a thing of beauty...The Club helped us get tickets!

Our pub business has utilised the Clubs social media reach with Medway's 3,000 plus followers on Facebook and 3,300 plus on instagram helping promote our business.

Our business/cannon logo is displayed around the club & is upon the club's accreditation boards, sublimated onto the clubs kit, on our flag on match days plus we enjoy the social media exposure and support mentioned.

We have agreed to continue sponsoring Medway Rugby Club for season 2026/2027 its 95th season.

We are delighted to hear Medway Rugby Club has the largest women and girls section in England.
The club has a total number of 1414 members and deploys Four men's teams, a Women's team, youth teams (both boys and girls) from the u18 Academy of excellence through the u12 and then continuing from the under 11s into the throng of minis where resilience, teamwork and passion are fostered.

Castlerock Wealth Management is proud to have supported Medway Rugby Club for over 10 years through our sponsorship of both the Senior Club and its Academy.

The club has become a significant part of our family life since our son first started playing at just five years old. It wasn’t long before our daughter also joined, and both went on to represent Medway and Kent, with Will also representing the London & South East Division at U18 and U20 level in the same year. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of watching both Will and Ems develop as players within such a supportive environment. Darren also had the honour of serving as Head Coach for our son’s age group, working alongside a fantastic coaching team to guide the squad from U6s through to the Academy.

We now take great pride in seeing many of those players progress into senior rugby, representing the club, Kent, the England London Division, and their universities. These journeys have given us a real appreciation for the values, commitment, and strong sense of community that make Medway RFC such a special place.

As one of the leading rugby clubs in Kent, Medway RFC continues to play a vital role in developing grassroots rugby and providing opportunities for players of all ages and abilities. We greatly admire the club’s energy, its dedication to the local community, and its ambition to continually grow and improve.

Beyond rugby, the club provides a fantastic social environment, bringing together players, families, supporters, and local businesses. We always enjoy attending events throughout the year, from sponsors’ lunches and Christmas celebrations to end-of-season tours.

Our involvement also provides valuable networking opportunities, helping to strengthen relationships across both the local business and sporting communities.

We would like to thank everyone involved in making Medway RFC the club it is today—from the volunteers and coaches to the players and supporters who give so much of their time and energy.
