Romiley v North East Cheshire

The Romiley ladies went into bat against Poynton for their last league match of the Summer. Losing 2 wickets in the first over, the ladies thought it was going to be a quick exit home. However, Captain Alison turned it around by going in fourth and ticking up the runs to retire at 30. Sharon’s new partnership with Corrine continued the magic, as Corrine ramped up an impressive 31 runs, and retired after facing just 16 balls. Dawn then majestically completed Romiley’s innings, to finish on 172/2 after 16 overs.
After a quick break, Sharon then opened the bowling, going back-to-back with Ellen. Romiley had a breakthrough in the fourth over with Ellen bowling out one of NECC’s opening batswomen. Amy Shipton then continued the mischief, bowling out two players in the seventh over with consecutive bowls. Anj applied the pressure in the ninth over, and NECC’s fourth batswoman was stumped by Ellen in wicket. Some excellent stops in the field by Jane K, tonnes of running, and some fabulous backing up, meant the home team just couldn’t get to Romiley’s score, finishing on 104/4.
A confident win for the last match of the season, where 2 of our brand new players Corrine and Jane K played like total pros!! Bring on the indoor league!
