⚫️🔴 Weston Youth U14s v Tenbury Utd U13s- first round of the Dave Howes Cup.

The boys were looking for a fast start to this cup game and took the lead early as Harry broke from midfield to run through and score across the keeper.
Weston continued to control possession and territory but Tenbury were always a threat on the break. The defence stayed alert and Weston could feel unfortunate not to increase their lead with the woodwork being hit on three occasions.
With halftime approaching, another dangerous counter attack from Tenbury saw a penalty awarded, which was dispatched confidently into the top corner to level it up at 1-1.
The halftime team talk was to keep playing the same tempo and chances would be created. This was how it proved to be but the Tenbury goalkeeper was in inspired form, making save after save to frustrate Weston.
However, Thomas finally found a way past the Tenbury defence to give Weston a deserved lead before he provided another lovely finish to wrap the game up 3-1.

Credit goes to Tenbury for a resilient performance which pushed Weston all the way.

There were alot of stand out performances from Weston today too, with player of the match going to Harry, who controlled midfield with a dominant display.

⚽🏆 Weston Youth v Pegasus – Cup 🏆⚽

Yesterday we travelled to Pegasus for our cup game, with an earlier kick-off than the team are used to. The wind was blowing, but thankfully the rain stayed away!

It was a really difficult game for us to settle into, but I have to give huge credit to every one of our players. They battled hard right until the final whistle and there were some really good moments of link-up play along the way.

Finley was fantastic in goal today and made some excellent saves, but this was a real team effort. Everyone kept going, kept trying and battled right to the end. 👏

For me, though, the biggest positive today wasn't the football — it was the character shown by our team.

There were moments when things could easily have become frustrating, but our players kept their heads, showed calmness and integrity, and continued to conduct themselves in a way that makes me incredibly proud to coach them.

Results won't always go our way, but how we respond is what matters. We keep our heads up, learn from today and go again next week. ❤️🖤

💥 MATCH REPORT U9’s 💥

🔴⚫️ Weston Youth v Lucton 🔴⚫️

The U9s took the long journey over to Lucton for a well contested match, played in great spirits.

A lovely sunny morning and the whole team gave a great effort but wasn’t quite to be our day after a few quick fire goals from brilliant strikes by Lucton.

Tommy, Hugo, Sam, Josh, Ben, Lewis and Rowan worked well together making lots of chances but were unlucky, being kept out by great goalkeeping multiple times.

Tommy, Hugo and Josh were brave, sharing the goalkeeping duties but taking a few knocks for the team to keep the score down. It was nice to see set plays working, being able to move up the pitch together. Lewis, Ben and Rowan all were getting crosses in to make those chances with goals coming in the end from Josh and Sam, both finishing well from those team moves.

A fun morning with lots to be proud of and build on.

⚽️ Weston FC U8s v Leominster Town ⚽️

What a morning for our Weston FC U8s! 🙌
The boys welcomed Leominster Town this morning and put in a fantastic team performance 👏⚽️

There were some brilliant individual performances throughout the game:
⭐️ Finley – Great movement with the ball and some excellent defending.
⭐️ Charlie – Showed fantastic perseverance when defending and worked hard to push the ball upfield.
⭐️ Fred P – Continuous effort throughout the game, particularly when defending.
⭐️ Louie – First to step into goal and defended really well, before helping move the ball up the pitch with some great passing.
⭐️ Joel – Lightning-fast movement, brilliant crosses into the box and excellent work up the wing. He also bagged a couple of fantastic goals! ⚡️⚽️
⭐️ Fred C – Never backed down from a challenge and scored a couple of great goals.
⭐️ Tommy – Put the opposition under amazing pressure as a forward and scored several well-timed goals. ⚽️
⭐️ Vinnie – Seemed to be everywhere today, even putting in a stint in goal! Scored several fantastic goals and was deservedly named Parents' Player of the Match! 🏆👏

A brilliant all-round team effort from the boys today. Plenty of hard work, determination, teamwork and some fantastic football on show. 💙⚽️

🔴⚫ Lydney vs Weston Youth U12 🔴⚫️

A tough game today in difficult, wet pitch conditions against a well-organised, strong and physical Lydney side.

Lydney did an excellent job of denying us time and space on the ball. We struggled to adapt and never really found our normal passing rhythm, with our play too rushed at times and lacking the control we’ve shown in recent weeks.

Lydney scored twice, once in each half, with two excellent finishes from their centre-back, who had a very impressive game and controlled things well from defence.

⚽ Goal – Lyla

Lyla scored our only goal of the game, calmly finding the bottom corner after one of our best passages of football – a flowing team move that showed what we can produce when we move the ball quickly and play with composure.

⭐ Player of the Match – Bobby

Bobby led the line superbly with pace, strength and determination. He battled throughout, caused problems for the Lydney defence and never gave up.

Not our best performance, but games like today are an important part of the team’s development. We’ll learn a lot from it, take those lessons into training and continue working on playing our football even when we’re under pressure.

🔴⚫️ Weston U11 vs Ledbury U11 🔴⚫️

The scoreline might not have gone our way today, but there are so many positives to take from this performance! 💙⚽️

With only one substitute available, we knew it was going to be a physically demanding game, but the boys gave absolutely everything from start to finish. They kept working, kept supporting each other and, most importantly, never stopped trying to play football and create

⚽️ Oscar – 1 goal 👏

A fantastic performance from Harley, finding the net four times and causing problems for the opposition throughout the game. Four goals is a brilliant achievement! ⚽️🔥

🌟 Players of the Match – Harley, Archie & Corey 🌟

What impressed me most was the attitude of the whole team. Even when things were difficult, the boys kept their heads up, continued battling and played right until the final whistle. That mentality is exactly what we want to see. 💪

Every game gives us something to learn from, and performances like this help us develop and become stronger as a team.

Really proud of the boys today. 💙 Keep working, keep learning and keep enjoying your football. We go again! ⚽️💪

💥 MATCH REPORT U14s 💥

🔴⚫️ Weston Youth v Ledbury

Weston travelled to Ledbury yesterday lunchtime looking to bounce back after last weekends opening day defeat.

🔴⚫️ Squad today Jack B (gk), Chase (c), Ryley, George, Ted, Fred, Thomas, Harry, Jamie, Jack J, Alfie, Jacob K, Charlie and Conor.⚽️

On the slippery pitch both sides tried to get a foothold in the game early on but with two well matched teams there was little to separate them.

Half chances were created by both, but it was Ledbury who broke the deadlock to go halftime 1-0 up.

The boys were told to keep up the work rate and intensity second half, which they did but were finding it hard to create that one clear opening to get back into the game.

It looked like a set piece would be a way back and so it proved as Harry’s out swinging corner was met with a towering header by Jacob K to level it up at 1-1.

Both teams went in search of a winner with chances at both ends but the game ended in a fair draw.

Weston can be pleased with how they dug in and responded to going a goal down with great character shown by all the lads to get a result.

🏆 Player of the match went to Ted, who was superb at left back, showing great pace and strength throughout and not letting his winger get the better of him.👏🏆
