Ross Juniors U11s JPL v North Somerset U12 Girls – 19/09/26

On Saturday, our U11 Juniors continued their impressive start to life in the JPL, despite producing a performance that fell below their recent standards.

Ross welcomed Joshua back from injury on Saturday and were able to field a full squad for the first time this season: Toby, Elijah, Henry, Jack, Louie, George, Mason, Pari, Nathan, Ollie and Joshua.

The match was scrappy at times, with both teams closing down each other quickly and neither able to establish control. Ross occasionally lacked a little composure when playing out from the back and when chances arrived in front of goal.

North Somerset deserve credit for their organisation and quick pressing, which gave Ross little time on the ball. Although Ross were let down by some of their passing, first touch and decision-making, the boys compensated with excellent work rate and determination. This effort helped them create several chances, with Ollie and George scoring through two well-struck shots.

This was another evenly contested match which provided another valuable opportunity for the boys to continue developing their understanding of the game, both individually and as a team.

Thank you to North Somerset for a close, competitive game and to our home and away kit sponsors, Plates&Shakers and Morgan Motors - Ross On Wye for their fantastic support.

Thank you also to Kane Shekyls for his photography.

Adobe Women’s FA Cup

A huge effort from our young Ross side against higher-grade opposition in Yate Town.

Despite the 5–0 scoreline, there were so many positives to take. The girls showed fantastic resilience, worked tirelessly and stuck to our structure throughout, making life difficult for a very strong Yate side.

The experience gained from games like this is invaluable, and the girls can be incredibly proud of their performance and attitude from start to finish.

A massive thank you to Yate Town for their kind words and for recognising the quality and potential within our young squad.

Ross Junior U10 – An Epic Battle at Clee Hill

Under a suitably dramatic Clee Hill sky, Ross Junior U10’s took to the pitch against Coroley for a game that had just about everything.

The afternoon began under heavy grey clouds before the rain arrived, but neither side seemed particularly interested in letting the weather interfere. What followed was a proper end-to-end battle, with goals at both ends, chances flying in, tackles being made everywhere and the game remaining a nail-biter throughout.

Brody stood tall in goal. Brave when coming off his line and alert when Coroley broke through, he produced some important saves and commanded his area brilliantly. Even when the pressure came, Brody kept his head and gave Ross a solid last line of defence.

Reuben, wearing the captain’s armband, led exactly as you’d want a captain to. He battled for every ball, kept working when legs were getting tired and set the example with his effort. No grand speeches required. He did his talking on the pitch.

Jack was relentless. He chased down loose balls, put opponents under pressure and never seemed to accept that a ball was lost simply because someone else happened to have it. If there was a challenge to be made, Jack was usually somewhere nearby.

Jordy threw himself into the contest and kept looking to move Ross forward. He worked hard both with and without the ball, competed for everything and kept going as the rain came down and the match became increasingly frantic.

George brought real determination to the midfield battle. He looked for space, competed strongly and helped turn defence into attack. When the game became stretched and chaotic, George kept getting himself involved.

Ted gave Ross energy all over the pitch. He battled for possession, chased opponents down and was always looking for the next opportunity. There was no hiding when things became difficult; Ted simply kept working.

Lucas showed plenty of composure on the ball, looking to make things happen rather than simply getting rid of it. He battled hard, found space and played his part in keeping Ross dangerous whenever they pushed forward.

And Arthur produced another gutsy performance, getting stuck into challenges and refusing to give Coroley an easy afternoon. He kept competing right through the game and played with the sort of determination you need when the weather turns miserable and everyone’s socks contain approximately three litres of Clee Hill.

By the closing stages, the rain was falling, the game was stretched and both teams were still hunting for goals. Every attack felt dangerous. Every clearance mattered. Parents on the touchline were experiencing considerably higher heart rates than anyone had planned for on a Sunday afternoon.

There’s no need for a scoreline here.

This was eight Ross Juniors players battling for each other from the first whistle to the last, against a Coroley side who gave them an excellent contest.

Jack. Jordy. George. Brody. Ted. Reuben. Lucas. Arthur.

Eight players. One filthy afternoon in Clee Hill. One absolute belter of a football match.

Up the Ross!

Sunday 20th of September
Longford Youth U12’s Emeralds v Ross Jnr Girls U12’s

Ross girls worked incredibly hard from start to finish, carrying out everything asked of them with great energy, intensity and teamwork. The positional changes were effective, and they adapted brilliantly throughout the game.

Ross created enough chances to win, but were denied on several occasions by Longford’s goalkeeper, who made some great saves.
Overall, it was a very encouraging performance, and the girls should be proud of their effort and attitude despite the loss.

Final Score 4-2

⚽ Ross Juniors U12 – Match Report ⚽

Ross Juniors U12’s 5–0 Minchinhampton

Ross Juniors U12 welcomed Minchinhampton to Ross Sports Centre today for a fantastic game of football.

It was great to have a full squad available, with Leo, Osian, Oliver, Rocco, Fred, Reuben, Thomas, Jayden, Isaac, Reggie, Liam, Jamie and Otto all involved. It was especially fantastic to welcome Leo back into the squad following his spell on the sidelines through injury. 👏

The first half was highly competitive, with both teams working hard and battling to find the opening goal. Ross eventually broke the deadlock when Fred produced a fantastic strike from distance to give Ross a 1–0 lead going into half-time.

The second half saw Ross really begin to dominate, playing some fantastic football and doing an excellent job of exploiting the wide areas. The goals followed, with Thomas, Liam, Reggie and Otto all finding the back of the net to secure an impressive 5–0 victory. ⚽

Once again, the work rate, effort and commitment displayed by the boys was fantastic from start to finish. A huge amount of credit to every player for their contribution.

🌟 Special Mention – Leo
A special mention to Leo, who made some cracking saves on his return from injury. His communication throughout the game was fantastic and it was brilliant to see him back between the sticks. 👏🧤

🏆 Player of the Match – Fred
Today’s Player of the Match was awarded to Fred, who broke the deadlock in the first half with a fantastically struck ball from distance. A great goal and a well-deserved award! 👏

A huge thank you to Minchinhampton for making the long journey over and for a great game. Some fantastic technical players within the squad who fought til the end. Great sportsmanship on display from both teams.

Finally, a big thank you to our fantastic kit sponsors, C & M Automations Ltd, for their continued support of the team. 👕⚽

Well done, team! 🔴⚽👏

Ross U12 Colts played at home today v Olveston, who made the long trip to join us.

Squad consisted of Kaiden, Arthur, Samuel, Alfie, Frankie, Jasper, Dylan, Will, Charlie, Harry, Jesaiah, Coen and Lee.

Ross started well, they managed to keep lots of possession and applied pressure on the Olveston team. Ross made it onto the scoreboard first with a great goal from Will. Olveston quickly came back, evening up. 1-1

Ross again gave a push with another 2 back to back goals from Lee giving us the upper hand which we managed to keep hold of. Olveston did manage to get another goal but Ross were on fire and with more goals from Will, Lee and Dylan, the win was sealed.

Ross 7 -2

Thank you to Tracey and Olveston and we look forward to the long journey for the rematch.
