A look ahead at this weekends fixtures. Hopefully the rain holds off and we get some cricket in this weekend unlike last.

The 1s play division 6 champions Sheffield Centralians at home. With the firsts occupying the last relegation spot in the division, and this being their penultimate game of the season, a win is a must in this fixture.

The 2s travel to Worksop College to play Tickhill for the third time this season. After losing by less than 10 runs in the last two games against them, the 2s will look to get one over on them and finish their season with a flurry by making it three wins on the bounce!

The Sunday side entertain Thurgoland at home and will be hoping for a better result than they had in the reverse fixture.

Unfortunately, the first team are off today against Whiston. Currently, the 2s are still on at home to Frecheville.

Match report from the seconds victory against De La Salle:

After winning the toss, the skipper decided to bowl first on a green, wet deck. Josh Wilkie (available to sponsor) and Oli Lister (The Candy Van) opened up, with Josh striking first, leaving our opponents 11-1 and taking the second a few balls later. Oli got into the action straight away with a great take by Alain David (available to sponsor), leaving De La Salle 19-3. First change saw Jacob Sverdloff (available to sponsor) come on and take a wicket courtesy of a catch from Fez at cover. A great caught-and-bowled was taken a few overs later by Jacob as well. After 10 overs, the next change was Sam Ferris (Go local Extra Hoyland), who took a wicket via a Simon Sverdloff catch at point. After 5 overs by Jacob, Oli Lister returned, and picked up another wicket, this came from another catch from Alain. Sam took the final one with an LBW, leaving us 58 to chase. Openers Simon Sverdloff (available to sponsor) and Nigel Ward (available to sponsor) showed grit and determination on a tricky wicket. They chased the total of 58, with Simon ending on 34* and Nige 11*, which included some classy shots throughout, but more importantly they valued their wickets. This made it two wins on the bounce!

1s match report from their victory against Whitley Hall on Saturday:

Having won the toss and electing to field we restricted the flow of runs in the early exchanges but failed to get a breakthrough. Enter Lewis Pursglove (C&J (UK) Consultants LTD) who ripped through the Whitley top order. In his 10 over spell Lewis took 6-37 claiming the top 6 batters! Towards the end of the inning’s S&HCC turned the screw limiting Whitley to 167-9 from their 40 overs. Jake Panting and Jamie Oliver (Oliver Business Services) took one wicket a piece and some sharp fielding from Callum Jones (Barrhead Travel & AC UK Services LTD) claimed the 9th.

At the top of the order Ian Couldwell (Kimvo Sports) got us off to a solid start scoring 19. A couple of wickets in quick succession brought Mike Dearden (Peron Property) and Jamie together at the crease at 51-4 and the pair started to put a dint in the run chase. Mikey finished on 35 off 27 before being caught on the boundary. This brought Tom Wade (Jason Wade - Painter & Decorator) to the crease who looked in good nick scoring a quick 30 to get us within reach. At 128-6 the equation was simple, hang around til the end with the RRR being less than 4. Callum joined Jamie at the crease and played his role perfectly, scoring a patient 26* alongside Jamie’s 42*. The pair saw us reach the required total in the 38th over.

3 wins on the spin sees us face off against Whiston next week in another must win game.

For the second week in a row, we have a Scholes & Harley double!

The 1s moved up to 7th in division 6, and with results mostly going our way we are now 14 points off safety with three games to go.

The 2s put in a brilliant performance to get a 10 wicket win at De La Salle as they managed back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Down at the ground today, the Sunday XI entertain Parkhead. Match begins at 1pm.

The squads for this weekend's games. The 1s will be looking to make it three wins on the bounce as they are in the midst of a relegation battle in division 6. With half the teams in the league being relegated this season it's four more cup finals for them! The 2s will look to make it back-to-back wins for the first time this season and potentially move off the foot of the table as they travel to Beauchief Hall. The Sunday side entertain Parkhead and will look to improve on last weeks performance.

Match report from the 2s vs Coal Aston:

Having lost the toss, Scholes and Harley were put into the field. After some very tight opening overs from Josh Wilkie (available to sponsor) and Oliver Lister (The Candy Van), the first breakthrough was by Josh in the 11th over, with the skipper claiming a high catch at cover. First change saw Lewis Pursglove (C&J UK Consultants) and Skipper Sam Ferris (Go Local Extra Hoyland) come on. Sam took a wicket with his first ball, burgling yet again, and then another with his third, caught and bowled. The next breakthrough was taken by Lewis in the 21st over, with another catch from Fez. Wickets continued to fall, with the skipper grabbing another and Lewis combining with Jordan Bolland (HLM Architects). Lister and Wilkie came back on, with the number-one all-rounder, Oli, taking three wickets in his second spell with some excellent bowling. The last wicket was taken by Josh with a great caught and bowled, leaving the visitors 174 all out. Figures as follows:

After some tea, openers Simon Sverdloff (available to sponsor) and Nigel Ward (available to sponsor) laid the platform before Simon was bowled for a well-fought 19. Wickets fell quickly, and after Jordan was caught, Lewis Pursglove kicked on with the skipper, putting on a well-fought 50 before being bowled, leaving us 100-6. Josh Wilkie joined Fez on the crease, looking to keep us ticking over, until Sam chopped one up for his 20 at 137-7. Oli 14* and Josh 36* went on to steer us over the finish line with some lovely shots from both, with 3 overs to spare. 12 points in the bag and a great game by everyone on the pitch.
