Rotherham Phoenix has reason to celebrate before this year's rugby season starts Sunday.

4 girls have been selected to be part of England Rugbys, Player Development Group. This is part of Yorkshire Rugby's Centre of excellence.

They went through a tough trial involving over 105 girls from 26 clubs and schools from all over Yorkshire for only 30 spots.
Coaches David Reid, Bobby Layte and Kieran Bass are incredibly proud of the girls and the whole girls squad.

“It really shows that down at Rotherham Phoenix, we are doing something right. The efforts of all our coaches, and players should be celebrated.” Said David

“This marks the first time that any girl has been selected in Rotherham Phoenix Colours, representing the club at this level.”

“We train every Monday night on Herringthorpe playing fields at 6pm, if any girls want to get involved in growing the club, please get in touch.”

Rotherham Phoenix U14 and U16 start the season away at Sandal RUFC this Sunday.
