RSJC crown green bowls club, Rubery

Our Triple J competition was won on Bank Holiday Monday by Andy, John and Mike, beating Jerome, Alan and Ellen in a final that ended 21-15. The triples competition commemorates significant club members Jim Cowling, John Swingler and Johnny Mitchell, first held in 2021.

This year we saw a great turnout of 32 bowlers participating, and plenty of supporters throughout the day. After a preliminary round, we then went to quarters, sems, and then the final, completing a full day of bowling, (mostly) under sunshine.

Thanks to Ian Lawson for running the day, Steve Flood and his helpers for the amazing barbecue and cakes, and everyone who helped tidy up after - much appreciated.

Well done to both Sunday teams today, with the A winning away at Henley (pictured), and the B team also winning at home vs The Bell. Another hot one, but all bowled well. With just three matches left for both teams and everything to play for, we wish them both all the best

Yesterday we held our Club Doubles Competition, with Ian Lawson and Ellen Aindow the eventual winners (21-12) over Keith Moore and Trevor Brant. It was great to see a turnout of 24 entries, including some of our new bowlers this year. Thanks to Ian for organising, and all who turned out to bowl and support. Well done all!

Something a bit different tonight, a knockout competition using lawn bowls jacks... With no bias! How do you get to it then? Through knowledge of the green. 16 bowlers turned out for quarters, semis and then a final. Well done to Helen and Mark, beating Stephen and Dave in the final.
