🌟New Weekly Yin Class🌟

I’m so happy to finally be launching a weekly Yin Yoga class!

It’s something I’ve wanted to bring to the schedule for such a long time, and I’m so pleased it’s now happening.

Deep Stretch Yin
Thursdays, 7.20pm to 8.35pm
Houlton School
Starting 10 September

This will be a slow, steady, low-to-the-ground class where we stay in poses for longer, use props for support, and give the body time to soften and open.

It’s a lovely way to move from the busyness of the week into the weekend. A chance to slow down, stretch deeply, release tension, and feel a little more settled before Friday arrives.

You don’t need to be flexible and you don’t need to have done Yin before. It’s suitable for all levels, including beginners.

Expect deep stretches, quiet moments, warm layers, bolsters, blankets, and space to breathe.

Yoga doesn’t have to be the same every time. Some days we need Flow. Some days we need Yin. Some days we just need to lie down and breathe for a minute. 🌿

A little bit of the story behind Gemma Murphy Yoga. ✨

I didn’t start yoga because I was flexible. I started because I was curious.

When I was seven, I found an old black and white yoga book and tried to copy the shapes. I wasn’t very good, but something about it stayed with me.

Over the years, yoga has become many different things to me.

Movement.
Strength.
Space.
A way to steady myself when life feels full.

And now, after many years working in children’s education alongside teaching yoga, I’m making more room for this work.

My classes are practical, welcoming yoga for real life. A mix of movement, breathwork and thoughtful themes to help you ease tension, steady your mind and reconnect with yourself.

You can practise with me through weekly Flow, weekly Yin, longer weekend sessions, and retreats in beautiful spaces a little further afield.

And if you’re hesitant to start, you’ll be very welcome. Exactly as you are.

I love leading these Lifted sessions 🪽

There’s something really special about giving you 2.5 hours to slow down properly.

No rushing.
No pushing.
Nothing fancy.

Just movement to ease the body, deep stretches to release tension, myofascial release to get into those tight spots, and yoga nidra to help the whole system settle.

A chance to soften the shoulders, calm the mind, breathe a little deeper and leave feeling lighter.

That was Lifted this afternoon. 🪽

Lifted is this Saturday 🪽

When life feels full, it can be so easy to keep going, keep pushing, keep holding tension without really noticing.

For me, slower and more restorative practices have become an important part of my own yoga practice. They help balance out the stronger, more energising flows, and give the body and mind time to soften, release and rest.

That’s really where Lifted came from.

A 2.5-hour reset combining gentle yoga, yin, myofascial release, restorative yoga and yoga nidra. More spacious than a weekly class, but without needing to give up a whole day.

It’s for you if you feel like you need to slow down, breathe properly, ease some tension and come back to yourself a little.
