⚽️U14 REDS⚽️

Ruskington Lions 0–2 Skegness Imps

Today we welcomed Skegness Imps for what we knew would be a tough game and an excellent test of just how far this team has come over the past couple of months.

The first half was extremely tight, with Skegness using the wind to send a succession of long balls over the top. The Lions stood strong and defended brilliantly, only for the visitors to finally break the deadlock five minutes before half-time.

At the break, the message was simple: remain patient and trust our usual passing game. Despite the clear difference in size and physicality between the two sides, the lads did exactly that.

The Lions continued to play their football, created a couple of good opportunities and were denied by an outstanding save from a free kick. Unfortunately, it simply wasn’t our day in front of goal.

The result may not have gone our way, but hats off to every one of the boys. They worked tirelessly for each other, stayed committed to the way we want to play and delivered another really encouraging performance.

⚽️U12 YELLOWS⚽️

Ruskington Lions 5–2 Lowland Bolts

Well, what can we say - what a performance in our first league match! 🔥

The Yellows started strongly and opened the scoring with a brilliantly worked team goal. Lowland Bolts responded quickly, but the Lions remained composed, settled into a fantastic rhythm and began producing some excellent passing football.

Every player got stuck in, competed for every ball and showed brilliant teamwork across the pitch. Three more goals gave the Lions a 4 - 2 advantage before the team regrouped, went again and found a fifth to complete a superb opening-day performance.

Fraser fought for everything, threw himself into every tackle and gave absolutely everything for the team. A top-class all-round performance - thoroughly deserved!

Ruskington Lions 5–2 Swineshead

It was great to be back in action, and the team were certainly ready for it! 🦁

This season, the players have been challenged to perform as one team rather than eight individuals - and so far, the coaches have been incredibly impressed by their attitude, togetherness and commitment to the team effort.

Four different goalscorers, four different assist providers and contributions from every player made this a fantastic all-round performance.

This year, the team are also getting families more involved by introducing both a Parents’ Player of the Match and a Coaches’ Player of the Match.

⚽️ U15 REDS ⚽️

Alford Town 4–1 Ruskington Lions

The scoreline certainly doesn’t tell the full story of a competitive performance from our U15s.

The Lions took a deserved lead after 25 minutes through a brilliant solo goal from Josh G. Alford found an equaliser shortly afterwards, sending the sides into half-time level at 1–1 with everything still to play for.

The second half remained tightly contested, but a couple of breaks fell Alford’s way and suddenly the Lions found themselves 3–1 behind. Our lads continued to push, looked the more likely side to score next and were unlucky not to pull one back before Alford caught them on the counter to make it 4–1.

Despite the result, it was a decent performance with plenty of positives to take forward into next week. Heads up, Lions! 🦁

⚽️ U11 BLACKS ⚽️

A fantastic team performance from the U11 Blacks against St Helens, with some brilliant football and plenty of exciting attacking play on display!

The Lions started brightly, working together, creating opportunities and showing real confidence on the ball. Luke produced an incredible moment by finding the back of the net from inside his own half - striking the ball with so much power that the goalkeeper simply couldn’t keep it out! 🚀

Kian was rewarded for his determination after working hard to retain possession before finding space to shoot inside a crowded penalty area.

Joseph and Lukas then combined brilliantly with some lovely one-two passing, building the play patiently and creating another well-taken goal. This was exactly the type of football the team has been practising during training! 👏🏼

At half-time, the players were encouraged to communicate, support one another and continue building their attacks and they responded superbly. The Blacks moved the ball confidently, created plenty of opportunities and showed some excellent teamwork throughout the second half.

Another flowing passing combination between Joseph, Lukas and Jacob C demonstrated the team’s continued development, with the players supporting each other perfectly before Jacob finished the move! 🔥

Joseph really stepped up his communication throughout the game and consistently helped the team build from possession. His excellent passing and selfless work created numerous opportunities for his teammates and he also found the back of the net twice himself!

HBW 0–2 Ruskington Lions U13 Reds ❤️

If Carlsberg did U13 performances… this would be it! 👏🏼🔥

Facing one of the league’s strongest teams, the Reds produced an absolute all round masterclass. Every single player gave 100%, competed for every ball and won battles all over the pitch.

Tyler was a constant menace up front, chasing everything, providing an outlet for his teammates and completing his performance with a thoroughly deserved goal.

George was relentless down the left, repeatedly driving at the HBW defence. His direct play earned the Reds a first-half penalty, which captain Jacob coolly slotted home! 🎯

The back three of Ezra, Jacob and Lottie played with real confidence and assurance, protecting goalkeeper Joseph brilliantly and helping to secure a thoroughly deserved clean sheet.

Alex and Dex worked tirelessly and commanded the middle of the pitch, allowing George, Max and Harley to attack the HBW defence time and time again. Jake also delivered a superb performance, looking equally composed in both defence and midfield.

⚽️ U9 LIONESSES⚽️

Just their second ever match together and already there is so much to be proud of! 🥹

The Lionesses played some really lovely football at times, moving the ball well, working for one another and creating plenty of chances. The finishing touch didn’t always quite arrive, but the confidence to keep getting forward and creating those opportunities was fantastic to see.

For such a new group, the progress they’ve already made is incredibly exciting. Every training session and every match brings more confidence, experience and understanding and these girls are building something very special together.

They keep smiling, keep trying and support each other from the first whistle to the last. That is exactly what grassroots football should be about: learning, growing, having fun and making memories with your teammates!

What a beautiful day for a game of football! ☀️

The Reds worked on some of the key fundamentals of the game during yesterday’s training session, alongside building their strength and physicality and it was fantastic to see them putting it all into practice today!

After a slightly slow start while they found their rhythm, the boys began moving the ball confidently, combining brilliantly and creating plenty of exciting moments. There was some excellent teamwork on display, with the players encouraging one another and enjoying their football together - lovely to see!

A particularly memorable morning for our two hat-trick heroes! Well done Tyler B & Fletcher🔥

⚽️ U10 BLUES ⚽️

The U10 Blues faced Witham Juniors FC today in another challenging fixture against older opposition.

Witham were a strong, physical side whose players towered over many of ours! The difference in age was clear, but the Blues adapted brilliantly and continued to show why they’re more than capable of competing at this level.

They created chance after chance during the first half but just couldn’t find the finishing touch. It wasn’t their most fluent performance - the players looked tired following a busy week of football and struggled to find their usual rhythm, but their character never disappeared.

The breakthrough eventually came through some brilliant quick thinking from Frankie, before Bradley produced the moment of the match with an absolutely stunning left-footed volley! 🔥

What impressed Coach Ryan most was the final ten minutes. Despite running on empty, every player dug deep, found another gear and gave everything they had for their teammates. That determination and togetherness speak volumes about this talented group.

Jack’s work rate and ability were outstanding. When the team needed somebody to step up and settle the nerves, he gave 150%. Even when he looked exhausted, he refused to give up - working tirelessly to regain possession and drive the team forward.

Another fantastic learning experience for the Blues as they continue testing themselves against older players and showing just how capable they are.
