GA 2011 Purples v EKFC

An early kick off this morning and a trip to the fantastic K Park to face EKFC, it’s always a tough encounter and today was no different. The same messages from the coaches, aggression, move the ball, believe and support one another. EK got the game underway, both teams playing some nice football, EK were pressing us high but the boys showed confidence and bravery as we played from the back, we created a few half chances but we just couldn’t break the deadlock, the best chance of the half fell to Emmanuel who looked to be in to put us in front, he tried to get the ball onto his preferred left foot which allowed EK to get something on it and stop us scoring. The first came to a close with both teams unable to find the opener 0-0.
Second half underway, boys start well passing and moving the ball, some big performances needed, we continue to press EK, forcing them back, following some great link up play we open the scoring thanks to Findlay as he neatly slots the ball low and beyond the goalkeeper 1-0. The boys seemed to find another gear as we continued to push EK back and Findlay found himself through on goal again, he showed great composure to round the goalkeeper and tap it home for his and the teams second 2-0. EK were struggling to cope with the intensity of our press, Findlay baring down on goal again and you would forgive him had he went for his hatrick, but fair play to him, he unselfishly squared it for Oisin to tap in from close range 3-0. Effort from everyone was top class and the boys were tiring which allowed EK to enjoy some possession, a foul conceded outside our box was superbly converted giving EK what would be a late consolation goal 3-1.
Boys seen the match out to take yet another 3 points on the road.
