Huge congratulations to club member Finley Potter, who represented Team North West at the prestigious Mallory Park Inter-Regional Championships (IRC)!
Every year, the top junior athletes from across the UK earn selection to represent their region at Mallory Park - a high-stakes event featuring a open-water lake swim, a fast bike leg around the iconic motorsport circuit, and a flat-out run around the lake. Earning the right to wear that personalized North West trisuit with your name on it is a massive milestone in itself.
Finley didn't just attend - he delivered a masterclass. In an incredibly competitive field of the nation's best young talent, Finley stormed to 2nd Place individual finish, taking a well-deserved spot on the national podium! ๐ฅ๐ฅ
And the hard work didn't stop there. Back on the line the next day for the Mixed Team Relay, Finley and his North West teammates showed world-class grit and depth, fighting hard to take SILVER in the team relay as well!
Two days of racing, two national silver medals. Absolutely outstanding work, Finley! Your hard work, dedication, and talent have truly put you on the national map. We are all immensely proud of you! ๐๐ดโช

Hi All.
Just in case you didn't see the Spond update or WhatsApp chat post...
We have cancelled tonight's session. With schools closing and other clubs cancelling we had to make the responsible call.
Hopefully you can all have a relaxing evening and keep your feet in a bucket of cold water.
See you next week
Thanks

Hopefully we get a dry night tomorrow so bring your bikes!
Last week we awarded Max the GOAT trophy. To be honest, he has been on our radar for weeks. He ALWAYS gives 100%! His cyclocross fitness means he is a force to be reckoned with on the bike. He is also no slouch on the run. He completed 6km in our 24 min brick endurance session last week...and was hungry for more!
He is growing into one of the more senior members of the club and he is a fantastic role model for the younger members.
Well done Max!!!

This was sent to us a few days back bit I didn't want it to be buried in the post event bluster. What a great example of how a junior athlete and their passion for triathlon can develop! Here is Finley 7 years ago doing his first Ruthin Triathlon - giving it his all. And here he is last week STILL giving it his all and more determined than ever and wearing his IRC trisuit! He brings valuable experience to our club and it is great for our younger members to see him using advanced skills in transition and his desire to push himself.
Brilliant to have you on board Finley! Who knows where you will be doing triathlons in 7 years time!

Great report of the junior event. Good to see some Tristars on the overall points sheet.

Triathlon is a funny old sport. To be the best you have to work relentlessly on three very different disciplines. But for the vast majority it is just about doing YOUR best. Don't worry about what everyone else is doing. Focus on the things YOU can control. Make the best of your swimming skills. Keep pushing on those pedals. Get that last kick of adrenaline to run for the finish.
When I look at this photo of the Ruthin Tristars athletes I see a lot of smiles. I see a lot children who won a battle. Who are feeling the sense of achievement that comes from just making it to the finish line. And that feeling can be addictive! I also see friendships and camaraderie between children who see each other every Friday. Thank you all for supporting our event today. We will reward you on Friday...with a beep test ๐.
A big shout out to Finley for his 2nd place in the T3 and Idris for 3rd in the T1 categories. Your success will inspire others to raise their game and find their limits.
Well done RTS athletes ๐
