🚨Class Cancellation Notice - Thursday August 13th 2026.

Due to the extreme weather forecast across the UK and in the interests of the safety and wellbeing of all our members, coaches, volunteers, and families, we have made the decision to cancel all judo classes on Thursday 13th August 2026.

We appreciate that this may be disappointing, but we believe it is the responsible course of action given the expected conditions.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the dojo at our next scheduled sessions. Please stay safe, keep hydrated, and take care in the heat.

Charlotte continued her good form today with a bronze 🥉 medal at BUCS representing Oxford University.
This follows her success at the Oxford V Cambridge Varsity at the beginning of the month where she fought in the Oxford A team alongside Izzy & Lucy in the Oxford City A & Uni B teams. Overall Oxford teams beat Cambridge 4-3.
These successes follow Charlotte achieving her 1st Dan black belt at the end of last year.
Charlotte will be back home at SWJC for the next few weeks ahead of her return to Oxford.

We had just the two players competing today at the Eastern Area Development event & Eastern Regional Schools Championships.
Ethan W won gold in the development event & also fought two higher graded players in the Schools event where he achieved a win & loss after taking an early lead.
Ethan H-H was competing at his first competition. He thoroughly enjoyed the experience and came away with a well deserved bronze medal.

Huge congratulations from everyone at SWJC to Charlotte who collected the last of her points today & is now a 1st Dan Black Belt.
A fantastic achievement and very much deserved.

Additional training opportunity: Tom & Faith at West Essex JC are opening up new classes on Friday evenings in Braintree. For anyone looking for some additional training please see details below. These classes are in addition to the Tuesday & Saturday sessions at Stebbing. West Essex Judo Club members are always welcome at Saffron Walden JC on Thursday evenings too.

We are excited to announce that we will be running classes on a Friday evening at The Martial Arts Centre Braintree (Official Site) in Braintree from the 5th December. Kids 6:30pm - 7:45pm, Seniors 7:45pm - 9:00pm. The first session is free! Drop us a message for further information.
Please note: We will continue to run our classes at Stebbing Village Hall. Tuesdays 7:30pm - 9:00pm for Seniors. Saturdays 10:15am -12:15pm for Seniors. 12:30pm - 2:00pm for kids.
