It's all happening this Saturday at St Asaph Cricket Club! Our 1st XI have their final game of the season. We are in the running to win the league but it will be a tight battle to the finish line.

After the game, we will be celebrating all our teams with live music, pizza and the bar open until late.

It is going to be a baller in every way!!

The Saints 1st XI continued in their quest to win the North Wales Premier Division title with a 6 wicket win away at Hawarden Park.

Having won the toss the home side elected to bat and were brushed aside by the Saints bowling attack being bowled out for only 77.

The Saints opening pair of Dan Evans and Joe Norman each collected 5 wickets as they made light work of the Hawarden batting lineup. In reply the Saints reached their winning target in only 15 overs but did lose 4 wickets in the process. Matty Ryan again led the way with 31 runs and opener Evan Williams scored a well made 26. Collecting another 18 points for the win the Saints go into next Saturday’s final game needing a further 4 points to bring another league title to Elwy Grove.

Meanwhile back at St Asaph the 2nd XI narrowly lost by 13 runs to Llay Welfare. Chasing 179 for victory the Saints batting fell just short, ending on 165 for the loss of 8 wickets.

Gaining 4 points for their efforts the side find themselves still in the relegation spot in Division 2.

Next weekend is going to be an exciting one!! End of season match for our 1st XI against Denbigh. Will we win the league?? A nail biting finish with all to play for.

After the match, we have our end of season party where we get to celebrate all the teams. Great food with Rudolf's / pizza collective and fantastic music with Joseph Lee.

The bar will be open late!

Our very own Matty Ryan, who has been in quite superb run scoring form for the Saints throughout the season, made history playing for Wales NC on Sunday. Opening the batting against Cheshire in a 3 day game played at Alderley Edge Matty cracked a quite breathtaking 241 runs off only 232 balls faced. His innings contained 12 x 6’s and 24 x 4’s. Matty becomes the first double centurion ever for Wales in their history. An absolutely amazing achievement 💯💯. The Club is incredibly proud 🗝️🗝️ and here is Matty celebrating with his father (our Club Chair) post his superb innings.

🏏 Saints Finish the Season on a High! 🏏

St Asaph 1 brought their NWWCL Div 1 campaign to a fantastic close today, finishing the season with a brilliant win against Menai Bridge! 💪🏏

The Saints took to the field first and put in a complete team performance from the very first ball to the last. Some superb catches from Jenn, Liv & Jade, along with two fantastic run-outs from Donna & Jade, kept the pressure firmly on. Kerry & Jan also produced some important wickets to round off an excellent bowling & fielding display! 👏🔥

The Saints’ batters stepped up & delivered with a final score of 309 and losing just three wickets, there were some excellent contributions with the bat, including big scores from Donna & Millie. It was a fantastic all-round performance from the whole team! 🏏💥

Congratulations to our woman of the match; Donna-Marie Cooke for great batting (22r), really good improved bowling + 1 run out 👏🌟

Also thanks to Flo Sidney from the 2nd Development team for stepping up into the 1st’s today.❤️💪

The First XI finish the season 2nd in Division 1 — an incredible achievement, especially after stepping up to face several teams who were playing Premier Division cricket last season. 🥉👏

This season has been a real showcase of the strength, determination & togetherness within this team. From the experienced players leading the way to our juniors steadily stepping up into the First XI, the Saints have continued to grow and develop into a brilliant team.

A huge well done to every single player who has contributed throughout the season.

2nd in Division 1. What a season. What a team. ❤️🏏

The Saints 1st XI faced a very tricky encounter today against 3rd placed Mochdre, even more so without their 2 opening bowlers Dan Evans and Joe Norman.

However the Saints continued their successful season by coming on top by an 88 run winning margin to retain their position at the top of the Premier Division table. Having won the toss, Mochdre put the Saints into bat and thankfully the vaunted Saints batting line-up came up trumps once again. The Saints opening batsmen, Kyle Williams and Evan Williams put on 36 for the 1st wicket. Kyle and Matty Ryan (having the season of his life) then added a further 100 runs for the 2nd wicket before Kyle was dismissed for 60.

There then followed a quite sublime innings from young Will Norman who blitzed a breathtaking 70 runs from only 38 balls to push the initiative very much to the Saints. Meanwhile Matty Ryan continued serenely onto another century, which further enhanced his status as one of the premier batters in the region.

Skipper Will Ryan then added a run a ball 17 to maintain the momentum in the Saints favour before former star Duncan Midgley (coming out of welcome retirement to help the Saints out in their hour of need) cracked a swashbuckling unbeaten 29 and with Danny Ryan helped to add 22 off only 15 balls to see the Saints close their innings on a mammoth 322 for 5.

In Mochdre’s reply, Jack Griffiths took the new ball and produced the goods by taking 2 of the key Mochdre wickets to get the Saints off to a terrific start. He was backed up by the other Saints bowlers, with Robbie Prior continuing his excellent form by capturing 3 wickets. Matty Ryan also added 3 wickets (to confirm his Man of the Match performance) and Danny Ryan and Will Norman captured the other 2 victims. With 3 league games to go in the season it is still all to play for 🗝️🗝️

Last Saturday was an historic day for St Asaph CC as Liv made her debut in the 3rd XII, the first woman to bat in hardball.

She had a great game being active in the field and got her few runs under her belt. Both teams were incredibly supportive and she really enjoyed it.

Always developing, always growing as a grassroots, community cricket club.

Well done Liv!

We are so lucky to have such a community and family based cricket club and nothing showed that more than today. We had playing brothers, dads and sons as well as a dad, daughter and boyfriend combo!

We welcomed Menai Bridge and their young and ambitious team who were a pleasure to play against. After Menai put on 164, St Asaph were able to score 165/3 from 22 overs - a strong performance with outstanding batting from Cam Davies with 58 and Tim Cloete not out on 53.

A great season from the 3rd XII to take us to second in the league. Next year aiming for one better!
