Bill, we love what you do for our community. Keep up the great work x
I’ve been out and about in our community this week doing regular checks on some of the 24/7 defibrillators that I am responsible for in Irlam and Cadishead.
As a Defibrillator Guardian, I regularly check the defibs that I look after (10 currently!), making sure batteries and pads are okay, boxes are locked correctly, keypads are working and that everything is ready for use in an emergency. This work is vital to keep defibrillators active and available on The Circuit, which is the national defibrillator network.
I am proud to have been able to support the installation of six 24/7 defibrillators for our community, with massive thanks to all from Niallfest, Freya’s Little Legs, Titan Security Fencing and the Tiger Moth for their funding and support towards them.
Also, a big thank you to Angela and the David Pennington Charity for providing funding when replacement pads and batteries are required, due to use or because they are out of date.
I am hoping to help find or raise funds for at least two more machines and lock boxes for our community to increase the availability of these potentially lifesaving devices, for when they might be needed in an emergency.
Thank you for all your support, don’t forget to get out and vote on 7th May!

Alan McKay Invitational Pairs 2026
The day started with a bit of practice for visiting bowlers to help level the playing field.
Burgers and bacon barms were plentiful, with George Formby working overtime — as was Maggie on the drinks 👏
There were several close matches throughout the day, with some fantastic bowling on show.
The final saw Dave Yates Snr & Dave Head take on Dave Yates Jnr & Steve Cairns.
The winning pair’s game plan was to use the gully to stop the corner-to-corner play — and although Dave Jnr and Steve eventually worked their way out of it, the final corner-to-corner went to the winners.
🏆 Winners: Dave Head & Dave Yates Snr
🥈 Runners-up: Steve Cairns & Dave Yates Jnr
A big thank you to everyone who helped make the day a success — those marking cards, the refreshments team, all the bowlers and spectators.
A brilliant day, and one we all know Alan McKay would have loved ❤️

🦆🎳 Just a flavour of a cracking couple of hours at Cadishead Grange…
What a great way to spend Good Friday morning before everyone headed off for the holidays!
🎳 Bowls were rolling
🦆 Ducks were on parade (some better behaved than others!)
👦👧 Our youth team got stuck in and had a ball
👏 And a special shout out to Matilda and her brilliant MCFC duck
A big thank you to:
👏 Margaret for keeping the kitchen running and everyone fuelled
🧁 Dave Y for his fabulous buttercream cupcakes
🍊 Jayne for the chocolate orange cupcakes
….all completely demolished!
🎳 Special mention to Brian Johnson for getting 6 in a row on the block after eating one — incredible effort!
It was one of those mornings where everyone got involved — whether you were playing, watching, chatting or just there for the cake (no judgement 😄).
And somehow… the rain stayed away too ☀️
🦆🎳 A proper community morning — and a quacking good one at that!
