A New Local Karate Club for Pendlebury
Although the Pendlebury club is one of Ippon's newest locations, it is part of an academy with a history stretching back to 2006.
The club was created to bring Ippon Karate Academy's approach to karate to a new local community.
Our aim is simple: provide high-quality martial arts training in a friendly environment where beginners feel welcome and experienced students have the opportunity to progress.
The club is led by Sensei Dan Gidley, who brings his own experience and passion for karate to the local community.
Karate for Children, Adults and Families
Karate is an activity that can be enjoyed by people of many different ages.
For children, regular training can help develop:
- Confidence
- Discipline
- Concentration
- Coordination
- Fitness
- Resilience
- Respect
For adults, karate offers a rewarding way to stay active, learn a traditional martial art and become part of a positive local community.
Families can also become part of the wider Ippon Academy together, making karate something that can be shared across generations.
Traditional Karate Training
Our training covers the complete foundations of karate.
Students develop their Kihon, learning fundamental techniques such as punches, blocks, kicks and movement.
They study Kata, learning traditional forms that develop balance, timing, coordination and technical precision.
They also develop Kumite, learning controlled partner work, movement, distance and timing.
This complete approach allows students to experience different sides of karate as they progress.
Community at the Heart of the Club
Ippon Karate Academy believes that a good martial arts club should become part of its local community.
Our Pendlebury club is based within the local community and provides an opportunity for families to meet, train and develop together.
The relationship with the church community is an important part of the club's identity, reflecting Ippon's wider history of working alongside community and faith organisations.
A Supportive Environment for Beginners
Starting a martial art can feel intimidating if you've never trained before.
That's why we focus on creating an environment where beginners can learn without feeling pressured.
You don't need to be particularly fit, flexible or athletic to begin karate.
Our instructors teach students progressively, starting with the fundamentals and helping them develop at their own pace.
As confidence and ability grow, students can progress through the Ippon grading syllabus towards black belt.
Part of the Wider Ippon Academy
Joining Pendlebury doesn't mean you're limited to one class.
The Ippon Karate Academy has eight locations across Greater Manchester and provides additional training opportunities for members.
Students can progress through the academy's structured syllabus and, where appropriate, access specialist sessions and competition training.
This gives local beginners a friendly place to start while providing a pathway for students who want to take their karate further.
