A quick update to confirm Salford Sub Aqua Club BSAC 0253 is still very much an active Club!
Due to COVID it took a little while to get back & start diving again!
We still meet every Monday at Broughton pool 20.00 - 21.00 and afterwards at the Friendship Public House Prestwich.
We currently share the pool with Dive Manchester.
This month we have just shared a dive trip to the Red Sea with Dive Manchester divers
Well we eventually get back in Broughton Pool tonight.
We are severely restricted on numbers due to covid rules & regulations in place at the pool.
Therefore all Club members will have to check first to see if a dive/swim session is available!
All activities including arriving, changing & leaving the baths have to be within the hour slot & a strict one-way system is in place.
Further updates to follow once we have seen how the system works.
Additionally I called in 'Aqualogistic's' today to check how long cylinder servicing is taking & I was adviced 7-10 days, so again if equipment is required & tested you need to build this in!

The Club finally moves closer to a baths session!
We await the news this week for a return to Broughton baths on a Monday evening but due to Covid regulations numbers will be very limited & it will not be possible to just turn up or sit poolside as everyone is counted as part of the group booking

Well a very sad today as we attended a funeral for one of the Club's founder members who died after a short illness.
Alan P or otherwise known as the ' chairman' for years by the club started diving 60/70's & then helped many of us with our training before then joining the then newbies for many more years both in the UK & Abroad including Egypt in the early days!
You will be sadly missed.
Well the club is ready & waiting!
Memberships paid, members kit ready, BUT still no baths!
We await Broughton confirming our slot on a Monday will be returned & we can start.
Hopeful this week that information will arrive ( Please!!)
BSAC guidance re possibility of diving restarting
I hope useful & we are keeping well!
Step 1: no earlier than 29 March
Outdoor sports facilities including open-air swimming pools can reopen.
Up to six people or two households may meet outdoors for exercise, sport or recreation.
Formally organised outdoor sports can restart.
Stay home order ends, but people are encouraged to stay local wherever they can.
We believe that when these changes are implemented, it will allow for shore diving and include allowing inland managed dive sites to reopen with Covid-19 secure measures in place as before. Travelling locally and limits on overnight stays will reduce the amount of access to diving locations.
Step 2: no earlier than 12 April
Indoor swimming pools will be able to open for individuals and households.
No indoor mixing of different households will be allowed.
Self-contained holiday accommodation can open.
It is not yet clear if pools reopening will allow diver training to restart in indoor pools at this time but we will continue to monitor progress and advise as soon as possible.
Step 3: no earlier than 17 May
People can meet outdoors in groups of up to 30.
Six people or two households can mix indoors.
Adult indoor group sports and exercise can resume.
Indoor hospitality and hotels open.
Pool training should be able to resume where facilities allow access.
Step 4: no earlier than 21 June
All legal limits on social contact (both indoors and outdoors) removed.
The implications of each easing step will be conditional on measuring against the four conditions and progress being made against them. The implications for diving will be evaluated as the detail of each change in the guidance is documented by the government

Preparation for a return to diving It is a common part of diving in the UK that we promote the need to get ready for an approaching diving season. Whether you have been out of the water for the winter or for a few years, this section will help you prepare to get back out there.
Well still unable to use any baths for training understandably, but we wait patiently for the first opportunity to get back diving.
BSAC are running online training courses and some interesting web seminars!
Please be patient with the Club & hopefully back to normal eventually!!
The Club is looking forward to a relaunch using a new website set up and linked to the British Sub Aqua Club. The old website has hung up its fins and been decommisioned! As soon as we are up and running WATCH THIS SPACE! Once training recommences with a baths session again this will be reported here. I have added a few pictures from the Club outing to Capernwray on Wednesday.
