βͺοΈ WHITES WEATHER THE STORM π§οΈ Vs Ferndale Rodbourne // FT 2-3
The Whites were back on the road this week to visit our long-time besties, the Ferny Rods β but despite the usual good humour between the two sides, Ferndale meant business from the first whistle.
High balls and strong winds had Salisburyβs defence on their toes early on and made it difficult for the Whites to find their usual finesse.
Eventually, though, we got the ball down and started to play.
β½ 0β1 | Phoebe S
A lovely ball into the box from Brooke found Phoebe S, who calmly tapped home with her left foot to put Salisbury ahead.
β½ 0β2 | Daisy
Daisyβs turn next. A through ball from Phoebe S released her into the Ferndale defence, and she did the rest. Riding some crunching challenges, Daisy battled her way through before driving the ball home.
Ferndale werenβt going anywhere, though.
Some scrappy defending from Salisbury resulted in a penalty for the Ferny Rods. Hannah, who had been brilliant between the sticks, came close, but a well-placed spot kick found its way past her.
2β1 Salisbury.
β½ 1β3 | Phoebe S
The Whites went straight back on the attack. Some good work up the pitch ended with Gina delivering a cross towards the back post, where Phoebe S was waiting to grab her second of the afternoon.
Then came the rain. π§οΈ
And with it came wave after wave of Ferndale counter-attacks.
Eventually they found a way through to make it 3β2, setting up a nervy finish as the rain really started to come down.
Both teams battled right until the final whistle, but Salisbury dug deep, held off the Ferny Rods and headed home with all three points. πͺ

PLAYER OF THE MATCHπ
HANNAH
With the Ferny Rodsβ new shooting boots on full display, Hannah was the undisputed Player of the Match. A safe pair of hands throughout and called upon time and time again to keep Salisbury in front.
