Aldershot Town 4
Wight Eagles 0

Wight Eagles produced an encouraging performance in a productive, friendly match, using the game as an opportunity to build fitness, sharpen tactics, and give valuable minutes to the squad.

Newly promoted division one Aldershot provided a great test for the young Island side, forcing the players to remain disciplined and focused throughout the match. Although there were areas that will still need improvements, the overall performance offered plenty of positives.

"It was well worth the trip up to Aldershot.
It was our toughest friendly but the most encouraging one. Our players put a great shift in & were competitive for long periods of the game. We created some great link up play & were unlucky not to get on the scoresheet in the 2nd half. Two late goals make the scoreline more flattering." said manager Sammie Mumford.

Wight Eagles kick off the new season away to Romsey Town Women on the 6th September.

Our ladies travel away to face Aldershot Town tomorrow in the last friendly before the new season begins.

Venue: The SB Stadium, Memorial Park, Bottom, York Town Road, Sandhurst

Longfleet Lionesses 5 Wight Eagles 3

The Islanders travelled to Poole to face Dorset Div One side Longfleet in their second pre-season friendly.

Another evenly matched game with both sides playing some neat football & creating chances in the extreme heat.

Lyla Cooke came closest to scoring in the first half for the Islanders, with a great strike from the edge of the area, which was well saved.

More chances were being created at both ends in the second half. Wight Eagles stand in keeper caught her opposite number off her line & lobbed it straight over in to the the back of the net.

Tawnie Siddall saw her strike push on to the post before Millie Tinsley scored from the edge of the area.

Millie again scored with another great strike from outside the area & also saw another terrific shot parried on the crossbar. Denying her of a hat-trick.

Overall, it was great team performance & another successful runout for the squad. Plenty of mins for the players as they prepare for another season.
