This week the very first thing I’ve been asking people to do when they sit on their mat, is give a name or an adjective to what they feel in that current moment.
And then I’ve been asking them to check in with their breath and see how the quality of it feels, maybe when the last time they took a really deep breath?
I then asked if there’s a connection to the word you gave yourself and the breath.
I always see people either laugh to themselves with a little eye roll or they have a soft smile on their face.
I give repeated moments to check in with that word or feeling through the class to see if there’s been a shift.
There almost always is.
Yoga asana is about movement and physicality but people are often shocked by the peace and calm they feel at the end. Because what is the point of all the hustling/stressing/doing if we are unable to see what’s around us.
When you lead from a place of peace or a place of calm, your perspective opens up, it’s like someone’s pulled the curtains up to reveal a whole new world.
When was the last time you stopped to just notice?
