🏆 U6 Sharks 🏆

No Player of the Week trophy for the U6s today… because the whole group deserved one! 🏆

Back at school and back into routine seems to have had a really positive effect on this group. Some fantastic skills, dribbling and tackling on show today, but what impressed the coaches most was the standards this group has and how well they listen to all the coaches. 👏🏻

A brilliant bunch of kids who every parent should be incredibly proud of. 💛🖤

The coaches are super excited for the year ahead and what this group can achieve! ⚽🏆

🏆 U7 Player of the Week — Lucas 🏆

Lucas was consistent throughout the session, showing excellent listening skills and great technical ability. He understood the drills quickly, responded brilliantly to coaching and worked hard from start to finish. 👏🏻

A fantastic start to the new season from both groups!

Football’s Back! 💛🖤⚽

This weekend sees our teams back in action!

Saturday
The U10 Lionesses and U14 Allstars kick off their campaigns with away games.

Sunday
The Pav will be buzzing as the Tigers, Hornets and First Team all play their opening games at home.

Keep your eyes peeled too… we’ve got two new teams joining the Saxilby family!
Welcome to the girls of the U12 Leopards (Year 6 & 7) and the U9 Panthers (Year 4) 🐆🐾
Both will be playing selected development games this season, so keep an eye out and come down to show your support.

During recent research, I found this shocking report in the Lincolnshire Echo, 4th March 1911.

FOOTBALL - On Saturday Saxilby had Hykeham as visitors.
In the second half the referee awarded a penalty against J. Hardy for hands.
This was attended with a sensational result.
The Saxilby keeper saved it, and the referee allowed the game to proceed, but to the consternation of players and spectators, the local Saxilby linesman was seen to be appealing to the referee for a goal, as the ball had crossed the goal line.
THE REFEREE AWARDED THE GOAL, and the score 1-0 against Saxilby breaks two records.
It was the first friendly match Saxilby have lost on their own ground, and the first match in which they have failed to win at home.

🏆 Retford FC Juniors Tournament day 2, and this time it was our U9 Tigers who travelled across the border to one of their favourite tournaments, and the last of the summer before the season kicks off!

⚽️ Facing some quality opposition from across the region, the tigers held their own and scored some lovely goals, finding themselves through to the ‘Europa League’ Final against Epworth, a team they drew with in the group stages…

🐯 The team worked hard and put together one last superb performance to come away with a win, with goals from Theo and Tommy, and a clean sheet from Connor ensuring the boys lifted the trophy!

🏆 Huge shoutout to our new Saxilby Athletic Girls U12 Leopards who played their first ever tournament yesterday at Retford FC Juniors! Playing a year up against some really strong sides the girls gave a good account of themselves and ended the day all smiles and with the first of many medals for their collections! Well done girls! 🖤💛

Good luck to our U9 Tigers who are there this afternoon! 🐯
